He used to be among the elite over on Pill Hill, but left the cabal because he wanted to be a family doctor in his own neighborhood. You know, like in a Frank Capra movie. He treats his patients like neighbors, even if they're not... yet... like me. Helped me out when my arthritic hip tried to kill me. You don't want to know the details. Trust me on that. The point is, he knows his stuff and he CARES. Damn, West Seattle. Just... damn. Sell me a craftsman cottage at a price I can afford so you can be my permanent hometown NOW. And Dr. Harrington? I would like to start off with the fact that I have never actually meet or was treated by Dr. Harrington. That is because I've never been able to make it past his exceptionally rude receptionist. I first tried to go to his office in 2014 because my youngest son (3 at the time) wasn't feeling well. At the time my husbands work had renewed there insurance and our old cards had expired and we had not received our new ones yet. I told the receptionist that I had an email from the insurance company with all the new information on it as well as my old cards. She promptly got up from her desk and practically pushed me and my two sons out the door while saying if we didn't have insurance, which we did, we couldn't be seen and then proceeded to close the door behind us and lock it! I decided to try again in 2015 and called to make an appointment for both my sons and my husband. She once again asked about insurance where I told her all the information that was needed. She said that our insurance would not work there so we couldn't be seen. I said that I could pay for the appointments out of pocket and get reimbursed from the insurance company. She said again, in a more rude tone, that if we didn't have insurance (once again we did) that we couldn't be seen and hung up. Needless to say if you have insurance and want to see a doctor, don't call this office because the receptionist does not want to do her job or help anyone with a medical problem. read more

Dr Harrington has taken very good care of me for more than 4 years now. Appointments are always available within a few days if not the same day which so nice especially when you are really feeling sick. He also just extended his hours into the evening, which is a great way to avoid unwanted ER visits. I saw him accept salmon for payment once from a fisherman who didn't have insurance and that made me feel like he really does care about his patients. He also takes his own call 99% of the time so you are not passed off to a partner after hours. I'd have to say he is one of the most dedicated Family Practice Doctors I've ever been to. read more

I've seen Dr. Harrington twice now, and I can say he's easily the best doctor I've ever had to work with. The first time was an urgent care visit after a wine glass blew up in my hand as I was trying to clean it and put a couple of pretty good gashes into my hand. (Safety tip, kids: Doing dishes is dangerous!) He got me cleaned up, stitched up, and did so with a wonderful sense of humor, helping keep me at ease as I'm a terrible patient (and a wimp). The second time was with a run of the mill medical issue. In the past, when I've gone in to see a doctor, they've been in and out of the room in about 60 seconds, handed me a couple of pieces of paper printed from the internet (You know, doc, I could have done that at home and saved the copay!!), written me a script and sent me on my way. Dr. Harrington spent a good several minutes with me talking things through, doing a proper checkup, and made sure all of my questions were answered before I left. Our family used Dr. Harrington's services for two years. While he was good with my child and my husband, I found our personal interactions to be patronizing and dismissive. He was fine lecturing, but when questioned his demeanor turned almost defensive. It made for uncomfortable interactions. I finally left his clinic after he missed a longterm sinus infection. I was reluctant to leave because he is close to our home and was good with our child. But, I think he's a mismatch for women. I visited his clinic three times about fatigue and unremitting colds. I was told my problems were completely normal for a woman of my age who had had a child. He told me I should strap on a backpack with a 10 lb weight and walk around the neighborhood to get back in shape and get more energy. I was feeling so poorly I couldn't think to tell him that I was regularly carrying my 20 lb toddler around daily. Saw an ENT out of desperation and was diagnosed with chronic sinus infection. Post treatment felt better than I had all year. I saw the other practitioner at the clinic twice. He was fantastic. Listened, kind, and thoughtful, but not an MD. read more

Dr. Harrington treats my whole family and I recommend him with enthusiasm I typically reserve for music and favorite books (won't shut up about him!). I came to him more than a decade ago, when my husband had a very serious illness and had been to several doctors who brushed it off. Dr. Harrington recommended him to a specialist right away. It was found and treated and I will forever be grateful for that. Then I had a baby and he became our trusted family doctor, who saw us as new parents and helped ease my new mom nerves. I never feel rushed through an appointment. He has made room for us in his schedule and gone out of his way to see us with short notice. Trust in a doctor is the most important thing. I've had some terrible experiences, especially with urgent cares (super high bills, missing ear infections...etc. etc.) and am so grateful to have a doctor like him in West Seattle. read more

Moved here a year ago and needed a GP. Dr Harrington is located righ across the street from our apartment building. A nice departure from the typical Dr's Office visit. Dr Harrington always has a great bedside manner, he even called me personally to discuss blood work results and on a Saturday no less! Super-easy to get a quick appointment and an air in the office that says everyone cares about their patients. From a guy that hates going to Dr's appointments but knows it is a nesessity to have checkups, I can't highly recommend Dr Harrington enough. read more

The family doc is not extinct! He's alive and well and practicing in West Seattle and his name if Terill Harringon. Dr. Harrington is thorough, knowledgeable, calm and unhurried. He gives full attention and all the time that's necessary to address the problem. He referred me elsewhere for some of my care needs that could be obtained at the same quality but significantly lower price. I like holistic care that includes my finances. The hours are very convenient with time for appointments and drop-in afternoons. Picking up lab results is a snap. Such a joy not to spend hours waiting.... though the waiting room is comfortable, stocked with good reading material and has an interesting view out to Alaska Street. Also, his staff is just incredible. Warm, friendly, helpful and smart. No cranky bureaucrats here. The office itself has clean and beautiful colors and textures. And on one lucky visit I met the doctor's family dog, an adorable little pup who obviously has him wrapped around her paw. Highly recommend. read more

I got an appointment for 9:15am, hoping that they wouldn't already be running late. 9:10 - Arrived. Paperwork completed by 9:15. Insurance card and ID photocopied. 9:45 - I finally went from the waiting room to the exam room. The aide didn't apologize or offer any explanation. The aide was beyond unpleasant. I'm fairly certain she didn't introduce herself. She came and took my vitals and informed me that the doctor would not have time to address all my concerns today. Seriously? Its not like I wanted to discuss a solution to the Middle East conflict. 10:00 - I went home. The exam room was freezing cold and I didn't have time to sit around waiting for them. You'd think they'd call and at least apologize or trying to reschedule. Nope. I can't really comment on the doctor, since I never saw him. read more

My husband really likes this doctor and he has some good reviews so maybe it was a fluke, but I did NOT have a good experience here. During my visit, Dr. Harrington was rushed and arrogant. Not even 30 seconds in the room and he blurts out a diagnosis, without asking any questions or listening to me at all. When I ask how he knows (wondering what symptoms led to the diagnosis or what's he's observing), he says with an attitude, "25 years of medical experience," rather than it's swollen here, you can't move it this direction, etc. Sure, he will give you painkillers and recite a memorized page from a medical textbook, but I don't think it's wise to trust a doctor who won't take the time actually understand what's wrong. Really upset I have to pay for this horrible experience! Worst bed side manner I have ever experienced. read more

Dr. Harrington is a true, old-school Family Doctor. He and his staff are kind, accommodating and sincerely engaged in patient care. Staff are friendly and quick to know patients by name. The doctor never rushes his time with me and always listens carefully to any complaints, asking follow up questions and paying close attention, engaging fully in crafting a response and any necessary treatment. He's always looking me in the eye as we talk never listening distractedly as he scribbles on my chart. He has adjusted or reversed course on several treatment regimens previous doctors had prescribed, to my great benefit. His community clinic hours in the evenings are convenient when issues arise between scheduled appointments, and far less expensive than the cost of Urgent Care or ER visits. read more

I saw Dr. Terrill yesterday for cellulitis in my foot. What can I say, this man is a gem. I was scared and in significant pain and he totally reassured me. He prescribed some aggressive treatment and I expect a quick and complete recovery. I saw him last year to remove a sebaceous cyst on my back (I wrote a review about him then, but now I can't find it on here). I am uninsured and he gave me a bunch of antibiotics to take beforehand which saved me a ton of money, then he gave me a discount on the procedure itself. Super cool. If you live in West Seattle you should seriously consider seeing Dr. Terrill. Especially if you're uninsured. It's only $99 for a visit, and he will actually diagnose and treat you, not string you along with endless tests and BS like those self-absorbed demi-gods up on Pill HIll. No choirs of angels sing when he enters a room, and genuflection is not necessary - he is a REAL DOCTOR. There aren't very many private practice general practioners around, so he is not bound by the dictates of some mega insurance conglomerate. He's a "free-range" doc. What are you waiting for? Make an appointment already! You know you need to see a doctor about that... thing. read more

I found Dr. Harrington when I was looking for a family doctor in West Seattle, mainly for my husband and my daughter who was due to be born. I had a long standing relationship with my doctor who was also near my place of work, so I didn't feel the need for a new doctor at the time. Five years later, Dr. Harrington is still my daughter's doctor, as well as my husband's and my infant son. We have experienced nothing but excellent service by everyone that works at his practice, and even more so from him. This also goes for his walk in urgent care which is an amazing and important service for our neighborhood. They have been so helpful to my mom when she was visiting from out of state to both my children when they were sick. My kids and husband love Dr Harrington and I respect him a great deal. I have been through some ok doctors at the polyclinic and while though they were extremely expensive, they also seemed extremely rushed and I never felt like they were really listening to me when I had issues. But not Dr. Harrington. One incident I will never forget was when I was pregnant with my 2nd child and the last month of my pregnancy I developed asthma (when the the wildfires occured). At the time every nurse and doctor I came across diagnosed it as allergies, acid reflux, a cold. I suffered through it, even having to sleep sitting up. The coughing was not as bad in the hospital when my my son was born. However, a day after I was released from the hospital I ended up going to the ER because it came back and felt worse than before (unfortunately Dr. H's urgent care was closed late that night). The ER doc said it was probably just a cough and hopefully it will subside. The next day we brought our newborn in to see Dr. Harrington and he noticed my coughing while he was checking my son. Even though I wasn't one of his patients he asked to check my breathing because he thought I had asthma. Well he was right and he immediately had his nurse set up a nebulizer (i think that's what it was) and also prescribed me medicine an inhaler and medicine. Within a day I was finally feeling better after a month of suffering. As I previously mentioned, most of the doctors I have dealt with in the past as a patient, and someone who works for a well known hospital in Seattle, Dr. Harrington and his practice has provided my family with better service than anyone else in the area has to offer. Very clean and updated clinic. The staff is very nice and even offered me a bottled water while I waited, very unusual in a primary care office. I came here after work as the hours from 4-8pm are on a walk in basis to help us working folks avoid urgent care! The Doctor was very nice and seems knowledgeable. There is no better family doctor than Dr. Terrill Harrington!!! Period. Finding a Doctor you are comfortable with is one of the toughest things to do and possibly the reason why some people don't bother. I cannot say enough about Terrill Harrington, he takes the time to greet patients, explain the symptoms, possiblitilies, treatment, right down to the diagrams and pictures for the average "Joe" who didn't go to medical school. I drive 30 miles to continue to see Dr. Harrington since he's moved his practice to his Neighborhood. Although I am sure there are plenty of good physicians in my local neighborhood it is not even an option. Like the old Brett Chevrolet saying goes, "Worth the drive from anywhere". I seldom take the time to write reviews, but following my experience with Dr. Harrigton I felt compelled to do so. While roller-staking with my children I fell and injured my elbow. I put off going to a see my doctor (an internist with Minor & James) because it's a hassle to get there and I was short on time. I recently because aware of Dr. Harrington's office location, and had seen a sign outside advertising drop-in hours between 4-8PM. I decided to drop in to have my elbow examined because I couldn't fully extend my arm. I have an inflammatory bowel disease, am a cancer survivor, and my mother-in-law is a doctor, so I am well acquainted with the profession. While I've never had a truly negative experience with a doctor, I would also say that I've had few that were exceptional. One of those was with Dr. Harrington. Dr. Harrington thoroughally examined my eblow and then took time to explain to me how the elbow joint works and why it wouldn't extend fully. He informed me that I had a swollen tendon and suggested that I apply heat to it in order to help it relax so that it would more easily stretch. He also told me it would be at least another 10 days before it would function fully. I found Dr. Harrington to be personable, accurate in diagnosis, economical, convenient, and kind. As needed, I will definitely take advantage of his 4-8PM drop-in hours. He's an excellent alternative to driving to First Hill (where all of my other doctors are located). read more

Great office, great doctor. I went to the walk-in clinic to have a very swollen insect bite looked at. I was welcomed warmly. Dr. Herrington was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He eased my fears and recommended over the counter treatments. Dr. Herrington has a great sense of humor and I actually enjoyed my visit to the doctor. We have a Great Family Doctor in West Seattle who just got even better. Dr Harrington has been my Doctor for the last 3 years or so. He has always been great with both my children and me. I have referred my co-workers to him and they have been equally pleased with his care. Now he has stepped it up a notch and opened up a walk in clinic from 6pm to 9 pm Monday - Thursday . Last night at 8:15 when my son's fever spiked with an extremely sore throat we were able to take him in with no appointment to check for strep. OMG OMG OMG!!!!! What can I say about my doctor.... He is amazing! Where else can you go after 5pm and receive exceptional care in this city. NOWHERE! Not only does Dr. Harrington give you the best care but he takes the time to educate you regarding your condition and he has never advised me to have costly unnecessary procedures done. The office is updated and professional. He is open until 8pm and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that. He is the primary care giver for my entire family and we would have it no other way. He is no run of the mill doc either. Dr. Harrington has been named Doctor of the Year right here in Seattle and he is very respected in the medical community and yet there he is over in West Seattle giving his time to those of us that cant just take off work to go in to the doctor. Dr. Harrington has been taking care of my son since he was a toddler. My husband and I also see him. My son actually looks forward to going to the doctor just so he can see him. Sometimes my son wants to stop by even when he's not sick just to say hi. Dr Harrington remembers his patients and takes the time to talk to them about things he remembers that they have done. He is great about pulling out medical books to show us more about what is going on with our bodies. He treats my son with respect and speaks directly to him about what is going on rather than just talking to us. He offers helpful advice such as having your air ducts cleaned to help with cough problems rather than just prescribing unneeded medication. He really takes the time to interact with his patients even when he is busy, and he always tries to squeeze you in. I once called after hours just to leave a voice mail and was shocked when the call was transferred to his cell phone. He is the best and most caring and honest doctor in West Seattle. read more
