Frustrated with Appointment Handling…read more I am very disappointed with Highpoint Medical staff on September 11, 2025. I had an appointment scheduled for 3:15 PM, made a week and a half in advance, already delaying care for a medical concern because that was the soonest available time. When I arrived, I was told the provider was out sick. I was informed that "we called you," but I never received any message. Even if I had, the issue remains -- I still needed to be seen. When I asked what my options were, the only response was essentially "the provider is sick." No alternatives, no backup plan, no advice, no option to wait and be seen by another provider. When I asked when I could be seen, I was told the next available appointment wasn't until September 19th -- another full week of waiting. So, everyone who had an appointment that day was simply pushed out another week, as if our health concerns did not matter. This felt disrespectful and dismissive, as though my appointment and my medical needs were unimportant. A clinic should have a backup plan for patients when a provider is unexpectedly unavailable. Sadly, this experience showed a lack of preparation and care for patient needs.

I have never had a worse experience seeking medical help in my life. My doctor, Katherine Fate,…read morekept me waiting for an hour to see her; then acted like she'd never seen me before (she's been my doctor for 3 years now). She couldn't get me out of the room fast enough and addressed none of my concerns, but was quite willing to re-up my prescriptions that are no longer effective - and was one of the concerns I wanted to address with her! I'm going to have to try to find a new doctor now - no easy task since I'm on Medicare. I feel like a second class citizen. And my anxiety and depression are just awful. If I have a stroke or something, this poor care will be the reason why.

Dr. Karmali is the best doctor I've ever had, and I've had great doctors in the past. I visited her…read moretowards the end of last year as a new patient and she spent about 30 minutes getting to know me before checking everything that I asked her to. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed every step of the way, talking me through everything. Dr. Karmali is extremely kind, attentive, gentle, humble, and calming. She went to UW Med School, so extra points for that! Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

Dr. Karmali is by far the best doctor I have ever had. After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.

Pleasant and friendly health care provider, front desk staff, etc. Probably a good resource for…read moretraumatic urgent care that doesn't need either really involved diagnoses or a lot of diagnostic equipment or ER-level trauma. Wasn't so great for a sudden onset and new hip pain. Was seen by a PA twice, got a referral to PT and handout for piriform syndrome, returned as that didn't seem to fit and was worried about worsening problem, didn't get exam second time but referral for x-ray (there was going to be someone coming in that Saturday; I understand they don't usually have x-rays). I ended up doing the x-ray at my regular location in case comparison with previous x-rays needed. There doesn't seem to be much continuity between VM and VM/Franciscan at former Franciscan locations or at least this one. Had to reobtain health insurance info, get new "portal" type info for a different system etc. It is often IMPOSSIBLE to get through on the phone. Just killed my battery holding for half an hour without getting through, after receiving a letter stating I would need to call them to prevent further calls and letters about the PT referral, which turns out to be for another of their locations, not my regular VM location where I've been seen in PT many times before. Saw my regular doctor when I could get in with her at the usual VM location and received more complete exam and a diagnosis of meralgia paresthetica or trochanteric pain syndrome. Pluses: Clean, welcoming location, friendly front desk, friendly, sympathetic HCP, able to walk in and rule out likelihood of needing to go to ER. Minuses: Not great for diagnoses, continuity of care with VM, or accessibility on phone, not a lot of equipment there, it seems. Blaring TV in waiting area on second visit was really distracting the 1-2 hours I had to wait for my appointment and prevented reading.
