Some physical therapy clinics treat your symptoms- and others find the underlying reason for the symptoms and address the root cause. Union Physical Therapy does the latter. I came in completely frustrated about a back issue that was making daily tasks hard. I came out knowing an old ankle injury was the cause and with a plan on how to move forward. And, I have seen considerable progress within a week. The clinic felt more personal than many I've been to. I didn't feel like I was being slotted into a 30 min slot with the therapist needing to move on. The therapist took time to talk to me, understand my background and previous injuries, and make sure that they were confident in their assessment. I really couldn't recommend more. read more

Therapists are great (Chris rules!) But the business itself is really a mess. Front desk is completely absent and oblivious to patients most of the time, where someone is there. More often than not...no one is there at all. Appts can be significantly late, too often. Their billing Dept. and process though...what a joke. They have a written policy...that they break over and over. No statements, no record of treatment, no treatment codes, no explanations at all, in any fobrm/way. Months to get ANY info about costs...long after miltiple visits, again violating their own written policy! Have recieved TEXT MESSAGES ftom an unknown number as an 'invoice'...with a link to a random pay site. SCAM.. or new (super shady) billing practice that breaks every one of their policies??? Who knows!! But bro, trust me! VERY poorly run and managed business! read more

I wanted to share my experience at Union Physical Therapy, because I think there's a genuine opportunity here for growth -- particularly around how front desk staff interact with patients. My PT appointment happened to fall on an already difficult day. My doctor's appointment ran 30 minutes over (something entirely outside my control), which made me late for my scheduled visit. I called ahead, let the front desk know I was en route via Uber, and offered to accept a shortened session rather than cancel. What I received in return was a firm "no" and notice that I would be charged a $100 no-show fee -- for an appointment I was actively trying to make it to, that would have only cost me a $40 copay. I understand that late policies exist for good reasons, and I respect that. What gave me pause was the complete absence of flexibility or empathy in how the situation was handled. Healthcare is rarely a straight line -- delays happen, systems are complicated, and patients are often already navigating stressful circumstances by the time they arrive at a PT office. A 5-minute conversation that acknowledged that reality would have gone a long way. There's also a certain irony in a physical therapy practice -- a field built around patience, recovery, and meeting people where they are -- having front desk interactions that feel more transactional than compassionate. Bedside manner isn't just for clinicians. The front desk is often a patient's first and last impression of a practice, and that interaction sets the tone for the entire care experience. I'm not writing this to be harsh. The therapists themselves may be wonderful. But I'd encourage the practice leadership to invest in training front desk staff on de-escalation, patient communication, and the kind of grace that makes a difficult healthcare journey a little more manageable. Patients who are trying to show up -- even imperfectly -- deserve to be met with some of that same effort. read more

I have been a long time patient at Union and it has gone downhill recently. The front desk used to be kind and helpful but their most recent front desk employee, I believe her name is Chelsea, is downright rude. She is condescending to the point where I have started scheduling follow ups with my PT to avoid talking to Chelsea. I have witnessed her being condescending and disrespectful to other patients while in the waiting room so I know I am not alone. They also have had a lot of PT turnover recently which makes me wonder if the practice is poorly managed in general. read more

I've been going to Union PT for almost a year. Jess has been awesome at helping me with pain before and after my surgery. She understands how the body reacts to various sports (skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, etc) and can diagnose what is causing the pain. After my surgery, she was good about ramping up my PT until I was back to 100%. The facilities are nice and great location! read more

Like many others here, I sought out physical therapy after getting injured while climbing. Once, with a finger pulley injury, and the second (in the midst of treatment) a shoulder injury from practicing self-arrest with an ice axe. The office was welcoming, and my therapist, Jon Sparks, helped design a treatment plan that helped me gradually build strength and stability while working towards my long term goals. I have been to several physical therapy groups in Seattle but more recently have been receiving my therapy at Union. It is a well run practice, from the smooth website, interaction with the front desk in scheduling and in the logistics, the instruction app they use, and the treatment by the therapist which for me is Lindsey. She is courteous and knowledgeable and has helped me enormously. Lastly, the atmosphere also tells a lot about the practice. I've been going here for almost 2 years and I'm very happy with it. The PT I got has been great! She's always helpful and encouraging and can make a diagnosis and treatment plan in a flash. The only difficult thing is that appointments book way far out, so don't forget to stay on top of scheduling! Also, parking can be tricky because they only have like 5 spots and they're very tight. Street parking is doable within a block or two though. Front desk staff is always great, very friendly and helpful. Easier to schedule if you call in. Overall, highly recommended. read more

My shoulder pain is not an issue any more and my sense of balance and dizziness due to an inner ear problem has completely resolved after a series of vestibular exercises.
