8 weeks ago I walked into Stability Heath Center a stooped over 85 year old women in a lot of pain that had plagued me for about a year. Been a customer over more than 2 years before I started analyzing the appointments and billing in detail. I still have thousands of dollars of charges on my card that I am still trying to sort out the explanations for months now. On top of it, the front-office staff is at their sweetest best as long as you are checking in and not asking any questions about the billing; then the front-staff is rude and awful to the point of shouting and yelling over phone! I've been seeing Dr. Favreau roughly since March of 2011. I'm undergoing CBP (Chiropractic BioPhysics) therapy for some pretty signficant neck issues related to an old injury that finally caught up with me. Dr. F listened, thoughtfully responded to my every concern, and designed a program to begin recovering from my issues. The program involved lots of neck traction, frequent adjustments, partnering with my own Physical Therapist, lots of homework (read..you have to work at this too), and lots of patience. If you saw my xrays and MRI, you'd probably say I should have headed straight for surgery...but the problem was... not just one area of the cervical spine was affected....it was significant degredation of discs and bone growth into the nerve roots at 4 locations. Dr. F was, frankly my last hope. I've been told I'm not a good candidate for surgical intervention with this issue. After three months of this, my condition is significantly improved. I have greatly improved neck range of motion, and very little (if any) pain. I have some nerve issues because, frankly, the damage has already done. That will, hopefully, resolve itself over time. A chiropractor can't fix damaged nerves. I'm very pleased with Dr. Favreau, and the CBP program he champions. In the right hands, it has merit. In my experience, Dr. F has the right hands. Bait and Switch : Done with professional courtesy I have been in Seattle for 5 years now and this is only the second time I am writing a bad yelp review for a service. My hesitation in writing such reviews is that I don't want to accidentally malign a professional by my bad experience. However, there are cases where you need to put in your word to ensure people get the full perspective rather than just the gloating reviews. Also, I would add upfront that the staff is very cordial, polite and seem like good and caring people. This is not an indictment on their personality or character. However, the business definitely feels like a credit card company trying to extract the last dollar from you with false advertising & unnecessary treatments. Summary: 1. Stay away from the 'Free offer' given to people in the SLU neighborhood. 2. Even with a fancy employer insurance, expect to pay a lot more out of the pocket. 3. High on gizmos and gadgets. Very low on any lasting pain relief. 4. Car salesman like tactics to get you to keep 'upgrading' the level of care you need. Details: It's conveniently located in SLU and hence gets a decent crowd of Amazon, Facebook techies with back pain from desk jobs. They also entice you with pamphlets that offer first 'free consultation'. This is how I got roped in. After all, who doesn't have light back pain and a free massage/chiropractic exam seems good when it's in walking distance, doesn't it? I had been having regular low back pain due to desk job & a slight injury from heavy workout/sports. Having had chiropractor and massage services earlier that had helped, I was willing to try one. When I called to inquire about the 'free massage', I was told I need to talk to Dr. F first. Okay, no problem. I get that. So, we schedule the 'consultation' and the 'massage'. The consultation was essentially a 'sell' on why I need to do get a chiropractic exam and how it might help with back ache. I offered that I have the x-rays from my last chiropractor and already told him the key issues that were pointed out last time. However, they insisted in doing the full exam again. (Again, nothing extraordinary as most doctors do it these days). But it was very clear that he was more interested in my value as a paying customer (Qs like 'Where do you work?' were not satisfied with the relevant 'desk job' but required an answer that indicated how much insurance coverage and paying power I had). Also, frequently trying to sound scientific by quoting potentially irrelevant & obviously exaggerated claims. Anyhow, since I was willing to give chiropractic a shot for my back pain, I went ahead and scheduled the 'exam' that I knew I will partially pay out of pocket. The massage session was actually good and I did schedule a couple more massage appointments. Those went good too. The chiropractic exam, traction and all the other visits that followed in the next couple of months were just a complete waste of time, money and energy. I tried to bring up a couple of times that I wasn't very happy with the process or sure that the diagnostics was right. For instance, I was noticing more improvement after massage (suggesting that it was a muscular thing due to workout stress rather than an anatomical thing requiring spinal manipulation). This was dismissed in a very heavy handed manner with 'Chiropractic is backed by scientific research. Read this paper and that.' Again, I am no doctor but as an engineer, I can at least make out what seems like a plausible answer and what's just 'I refuse to agree with you because my salary depends on it'. I went along with the ride for a few sessions. Partly due to the strong arm tactics and partly assuming that the sessions would tell if there's a benefit or not. When the sessions were not proving any value and the treatment plan seemed to expand on every visit, I decided to pull the plug. I had to explicitly say 'Look, this isn't working and I don't want to continue'. The response was 'Well, you are not a doctor. As a doctor, I think you are making the wrong decision but go ahead.' The behavior suddenly dropped a few points in courtesy but thankfully it wasn't a 'get lost and don't show up again'. Partially because I still wanted to continue the massage. Also, the front desk wasn't the best in explaining how much things would cost based on my insurance plan. Till I got the actual bills, I only vaguely understood what I might be paying (which I assumed would be a lot). I would again add that most people were very cordial & I can appreciate that many people would have a positive experience here. If you are looking for a swanky place where you can 'feel good' about fancy equipment, smiling people as you shell out money for placebo treatment, go for it. Otherwise, ignore the Stability Health Center and add some real stability to your life. :-) read more

Save your money and find somewhere else to go. I visited Dr. Favreau after roughly two months of physical therapy elsewhere for repetitive use injury that was affecting my right arm and mid-back. The PT helped but several coworkers mentioned that seeing a (different) chiropractor had helped a lot with their similar issues. Since that office was not as convenient for me, I headed over to Align. (FYI, though the clinic front says "Align", the paperwork is for "Stability Spine and Wellness".) Dr. Favreau and I met to discuss my present injury and past incidents, and then he used some posture analysis equipment and software, and then took a whole bunch of x-rays and did a few adjustments. I returned a few days later to discuss the x-rays, posture analysis, and get a massage (which was pretty mediocre, by the way, but that was a different person so I'll leave it at that). For those two visits he billed my insurance $920. (including office visits averaging about $200 each and digital spine x-rays at $70, $100, and $150.) Thankfully, most of it was covered. His suggested treatment plan would have taken at least three months and cost several thousand dollars out of pocket (i.e., it was waaay more than insurance would cover, and it's not like I have bad insurance) but of course would be a little cheaper if paid all up front. Then he sent me an e-mail comparing the "small" few thousand dollar cost of his treatment to a $28k back surgery that might be needed later on if I don't fix my back AND mailed a paper letter full of ellipses (I like ellipses, but come on, you're a professional...) to recommend him to friends/family/etc. Good grief. I'm not going to recommend someone who hasn't even treated me yet! Overall he seemed set on gimmicky 'features' and does not communicate professionally outside of his office. I noticed afterward that he bought the domain "seattlefavoritechiropractor.com". Seriously. I ended up going to see the chiropractor my coworkers recommended and not only is my injury almost completely resolved after about two months and no ridiculous charges to either me OR my insurance company, no one there sent me hokey, poorly written letters and e-mails. What I did get was a doctor who focused more on actually treating (not just moving the table up and down a few times and then using the vibrating gun thing) and developing exercises I could do on my own to facilitate the healing rather than bringing out shiny but unnecessary equipment and charging me thousands... read more

I recently participated in the Ideal Protein program at Align Chiropractic, and I was very disappointed. Rachel, the Ideal Protein coach is definitely direct, but I felt constantly attacked and definitely not supported. I do believe in tough love, and a healthy dose of it, but this was definitely more than the healthy dose. I felt as though the staff was moving through the motions and didn't really respect my time or the fact that I was compensating them for service. I was constantly waiting for my appointment because other appointments ran longer than expected - there was no apology or a sincere thank you for waiting - it was expected. In speaking with both Rachel and Rio about my struggles on the diet after the first month, they didn't provide any support - I was constantly told that I wasn't trying hard enough. I got threatened about 3 times that I would be kicked out of the program, if I kept struggling. The coaching is not supportive, if you need a supportive and encouraging environment for your weight loss, DO NOT GO HERE. I spoke to both Rio and Rachel about their experience with the program, I believe they were on the program just a month. From experience, when you are on Ideal Protein and are past the 1 month mark, I believe it is harder, you want the foods you haven't had. I decided to quit the program altogether and find a better alternative than eating the ideal protein foods. I honestly feel better both physically and mentally not being on Ideal Protein. I do know this program works for people, and that is great. However I feel you should participate in this program with a supportive backbone. My recommendation is to not go to Align, you are the customer and you are paying for their services, you should be treated nicely and fairly. Let me start by saying I have a little more insight into spinal pathology than your average consumer and think that my review should carry a little more weight. I have spent that last 6 years as a medical device sales rep specializing in Spinal implants and devices. I have also seen 2 other chiropractors that had very busy practices but I did not write a favorable review. Dr Favreau has much more holistic approach to treating spinal pathology. The other chiros I went 2 did a very basic exam (consisting of some xrays and a short physical exam) and then spent about 5 minutes every visit on a quick adjustment. Although I this addressed my symptoms it did nothing for the underlying issues. The reality is that the muscles and ligaments that attach to your spinal vertebrae have as much to do with supporting proper alignment as the shape of your spinal column. Unless you actually address these structures, you will never be free of constant adjustments. Dr Fav did a a comprehensive intake exam and explained exactly what the issues were and what his plan for treatment would include. When I told him my back ground I was really impressed with his depth of clinical and research based evidence that supported his recommendations. In addition to adjustments he put me on an intensive traction and rehab plan including PT. His approach has worked and his plan was right on. He corrected my spinal curvature issues and I have been pain free. Dr Favreau was also very friendly and easy to engage with...I highly recommend him! read more

Dr. Rachel Giordano is THE WORST doctor I have ever met. She hardly seems like a doctor and more like a salesman. I found them through google and emailed the office explaining about my weight issues and that I was diagnosed with PCOS (basically a hormonal imbalance) which also causes weight gain, asking if they specialize in this and could help me. I wanted a second opinion and a doctor who knew how to help me handle this and my weight issues. I received an email back from Dr. Rachel Giordano saying she has helped lots of women with this issue and could "definitely help". I came in for a visit on a Friday and had some blood drawn. At the appointment, without seeing any blood work to know if this was a hormonal balance that could be helped with supplements or medicine, Dr. Rachel Giordano recommended their Ideal Protein weight loss plan, which is like a Jenny Craig meal replacement and I would have to pay $350 to sign up. I told her I can't really afford it, but would think about it. Rachel said she would call me on Monday with my blood test results. Later that evening after researching the meal replacement plan I emailed Dr. Giordano that I simply could not afford it, but that it seemed like a South Beach diet I could do on my own with her help. Her response was very short and blunt stating "You cannot do it on your own and will not lose weight without the program". So as a doctor her only form of treatment is a meal replacement program? She went to med school to sell just this? After over a week of not hearing back from Stability Spine and Wellness about my blood work, I emailed Dr. Rachel Giordano asking about my test result and received an email that Rachel was out of the office, which no one told me about. I was leaving on a trip out of the country so I called the office asking if someone else can call today with my results. Turns out Dr. Rachel Giordano came into the office that day back from her trip and emailed me that she "doesn't feel comfortable giving results over the phone and I would have to come in for another visit to go over my results", which would cost another $65 copay. So out of no where she now changed her mind and I'm expected to come in and pay! It seems that because I didn't agree to do the Ideal Protein plan I was no longer an interesting client since I wouldn't buy into their system. After lots of phone calls, emails and arguing, Dr. Rachel Giordano emailed me my blood work, which turned out to just be a general CBC. She didn't even do a hormone panel, which is why I went to her in the first place. It just seemed like a very lazy attempt to help me and get me to buy into their Ideal Protein plan. Dr. Favreau and his staff are so amazing!!! I have seen more improvement in the 6 months I have been seeing him then I had seen from years of going to the chiropractor before. The corrections to my spine and posture are absolutely astounding to me!!!! When I hurt my back last June, Dr. Favreau was very proactive about getting me mended as quickly as possible so I could return to work. His whole staff is so friendly and genuinely kind.
