Night market
D S.

New spot on the waterfront across from the Seattle Great wheel. The space is still developing but has an amazing mural created by local Seattle favorite Henry. space has an assortment of local crafts & one of a kind finds. Friday/ Sat night market The owners are awesome and dedicated to creating a space for the community which is accessible to artists and creatives of from different backgrounds & are happy to show you something cool. Great prices for one of a kind items and the whole space is curated to give a real taste of seattle.

Now, years later and with my family, this was the first place we stopped at after landing. The things that have changed the most in 13 years was how crowded it was on a Monday. It felt like a weekend crowd and it terrifies me to think how busy it must get on Saturday and Sunday now. I had a route I used to take people but a lot of places have closed now. Still existing, though the lines were super super long. -The old logo starbucks, I think this is the only place that still uses the old bare chest mermaid logo. -The oldest comic book store in the world that is still operating is at Pike Place. -Flower and art market are still fun to walk through, like a farmers market every day.

I am posting this to Pike Place Yelp to ensure it does not fly under the radar. For a welcoming and non-discriminatory city like Seattle, this was shocking. I hope the Pike Place Market takes this very seriously. ---- My friend and I were looking at the racks outside and the woman with a thick European accent came out and immediately scolded us for having an almost empty cup in our hand near her clothing. We said we didn't know, and where are the signs that say this? She pointed and we apologized we didn't see the signs before. We walked away from her clothing finished the drink and put down the cup where she told us to. When we walked inside, she followed us around, it was uncomfortable. I saw a scarf I was interested in purchasing and asked how much it was. She grabbed it from me, pulled out a bin that was labelled $45 and folded it up and put it away???? She did not ask me if I wanted it, SHE TOOK IT FROM ME AND PUT IT AWAY! I was shocked, I have never experienced this before. Then my friend went up to her with full intent of purchasing a jacket. She told her she found it in the $25 rack, and the woman immediately began yelling at her and said "NO YOU DID NOT, IT IS NOT $25, THE RACK STARTS AT $25!!" It was clear she did not want us in her store, and did not want to sell us anything because she was racist. When non-POC were in the store she was friendly and talkative. With us she was plain rude and discriminatory. We walked back outside to check the rack where my friend got the jacket from, the woman followed us out and yelled at us to take our trash, we said we are still looking at the clothing. I would never go to the Rummage Hall again, and suggest POC do not spend hard earned money here. Completely disrespectful for no reason.

I loved seeing such a wide variety because everyone in our group was able to find something they genuinely enjoyed despite our different tastes lol Personally, I ended up buying a Green Amethyst necklace from Sea Diamonds, a ring from another jewelry vendor, a chain and three charms from a vendor in the indoor section, and even a custom poem from an artist who was creating them on the spot with her typewriter! That was definitely one of the most unique things I came across. As for food, I got to try the Crab Mac & Cheese from Sam's Crab Mac & Cheese and was completely sold after the sample bite (highly recommend!!). I also enjoyed a Mangonada from one of the Mexican food vendors, and the Watermelon Sour Cotton Candy from CottonMouth Confections, which was another standout and definitely worth trying!! Overall, if you want to fully explore everything the market has to offer, I'd recommend setting aside a few hours.

There were racks on racks on racks of vintage clothing and a lot of it was priced really well. They had a section in the parking garage that had some vendors with home decor. They had great music playing. It's right next to the water. There are also lots of food options nearby. This was a MAGICAL stop on my recent trip to Seattle.

If you enjoy the food there may take a bit longer. The Santa is in the house for kid and family photos. There is a cover warehouse for dining area. For the cold day, it is a good feature. There is a time to time bubble snow in the center of the market. For the food I like the Parmesan noodle that hot scrap and mixed in the spot. I also like the skew bbq meat. There are plenty of food vendors. That includes the hot chocolate, chimney cake, molding chocolate, Asian food, kabab and more. The decorations all over the market. Plenty of photo spot. The night ticket is more expensive than the day ticket. For this cold day, I prefer the daytime visit.

It made me feel like next year I will probably have a Europe Chridtmas holiday again.

My favorite time to visit is June-September. The folks of Capitol Hill get to pick their favorite fruits and veggies with their reusable bags in tow. I also get longer 1:1 time connecting with vendors. They're pretty friendly and they enjoy chatting about their products. I accompanied my friend here who lives in nearby First Hill, so it constitutes the surrounding area mentioned but is all the more welcomed now as aside from the QFC in the area, there are few options for food shopping. My friend picked up some fresh radishes, mushrooms and tasty homemade hummus from the various vendors in attendance. We also got a veggie panini from a griller vendor at the market. Overall, the market is on the small side focusing primarily on produce over products and other miscellaneous sometimes seen at the larger ones. This is kind of nice as there is a lower amount of foot traffic, but the options are more limited. Decent Farmers Market though if you have a fairly small list of things, you need without wandering too much.
