Considering its age and amenities, this hotel is way over priced. I don't know if it's the location or maybe who they're catering to, but we found other Marriott Hotels in Seattle that were just as nice, or nicer at less than half the price. The room was fine, as was the service. I guess I'm just more into value. read more

Terrible experience. From the day one we checked it they marked up our reservation, gave us the room finally and after a day our room started to smell like toilet. The security and the maintenance came told us that there is an issue and we need to move rooms. They gave me another room key abs states that it is "the same room", I went to check it out it was not. So I had to call the front desk 10 times until someone answered and brought us a different room key. They did not even have the decency to apologize for the stress they put mw and my family/ my kids. We then had to move the rooms and the person who helped us moving room got our luggage and items and got lost for 20 mnts. I cannot express my disappointment enough and one thing I will say, that the staff is very careless and they do not even take the initiative to work out a problem. read more

This was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had because of the staff! We stayed here for about 5 days and each day the staff was very pleasant. I had my young (loud) children with me and instead of getting some looks, staff would interact with my children and was very kind. This is also a great location as it is walking distance to pike's market and many other desired destinations in downtown Seattle. My family will definitely be back! read more

This was a great find - location, room, service, affordability. My husband did a great job when researching and booking potential hotels for my birthday surprise trip. The nice man at check-in took the time to wish me a happy birthday, which was sweet. I mean, it was listed in my profile, but it was still a nice touch. We did arrive too early to check in, so after getting everything squared away, we headed out to find the bellman to leave our bags. They promised to call when our room was ready, so we headed out onto the town. The hotel is really nicely located; we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go over the weekend, which is pretty much how we vacation. It's a quick walk to Pike Market, the Space Needle, Belltown and a good number of breweries. True to their word, the hotel did call us a couple hours later, to let us know our room was available. We weren't high enough to have a great view, but the room was large, spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a desk, a small sitting area, and a fridge. The bathroom was a bit tight, but the shower was nice, and I loved the complimentary toiletries. There were a ton of outlets and ports to plug into, all conveniently located. The bed was nice and fluffy, and the room was sufficiently quiet. There's a small convenience shop off the lobby, as well as a lounge for super-special members. We were very impressed with everything about the hotel. I think we'd stay here again, the next time we're in the city. read more

First, 5 stars for superb customer service! Front desk was very helpful and very kind. We checked in during COVID, so the hotel was kind of sad-- just like all other hotels. The restaurant, bar, and the pool were closed for obvious reasons. If you want to be in the Seattle Waterfront, but not right in the middle of it-- this is the place. It's like 5 minutes walk to the big wheel. The 3 stars is for for the room. It is an old hotel and it showed. The rooms are in need of desperate updating. The deco, bathroom and the bed as well! However the place is nice and clean. read more

We're here at this hotel right now, staying for 5 nights, arrived yesterday. I reserved the room with my Marriott suite upgrade rewards but didn't get it. That's okay. During check in, Conor at the front desk was great and helpful but the M Club didn't have anything besides hot and cold water, small bags of potato chips, wrinkled oranges and bruised apples. This morning we went to the first floor restaurant for breakfast. The host was very apologetic for having us waiting so long. After being seated my husband went back to our room to get our itinerary. On the way down he was stuck in the elevator. Took them over 2 hours to finally call the fire department to come rescue. They couldn't get hold of the elevator repair service because it was a Sunday. But front desk acted like that's the matter of fact. The other employees were very nice and waited with me by the elevator. Meanwhile, the restaurant waiter boxed my husband's breakfast. While I was waiting on the first floor, I asked front desk for some body lotion which was not in my room during check in. She gave me one small tube, then I asked if she can give me more since we're staying 5 nights, she gave me another one. Very frugal. Not sure about the front desk ladies. After the fire department pulled my husband out of the elevator, there was no apology or acknowledgement for our inconvenience. We had to cancel our morning plans. As a Bonvoy titanium member, I'm disappointed with the management at this hotel! Not like the Marriott I've experienced. read more

How do you not love getting upgraded to a top floor corner room suite to celebrate 42 years of marriage? Room 804 offered gorgeous views of the Seattle waterfront harbor and Olympic mountains plus looking down the shoreline to see that massive Ferris wheel. (Which we rode VIP style which was also a great time) Upon arrival to our bright & beautiful spacious room, we received a card with kind wishes from the staff, delicious & decadent chocolate truffles from a local chocolatier, complimentary champagne and sparkling water with glasses to celebrate. Overall we enjoyed a fantastic & memorable single night visit. The location was in walking distance to Pike Place Market, our destination for dinner (El Gaucho) and many other places of interest. Breakfast at the Hook & Plow offered either ordering off the menu or the Sunday brunch. We opted for fresh made omelets with Beecher cheese and local sausage with a cup of fresh melons, raspberries and blueberries. YUM! All in all a fantastic stay that we will never forget! read more

This is probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. We had come here for a business trip and my boss had stayed here previously. Unfortunately between her last visit and now the rooms, bedding and cleaning had never occurred. We valeted the car upon arrival. Checking in seemed fine except we should have been tipped off when we were offered Marriot points instead of having our room cleaned which I quickly said NO. Little did we know was that none of cleaning or maintenance occurs at this hotel. We check in our room and due to the late hour we leave for dinner shortly after. Upon our return we could not get the room cooled down nor could we breath. We call maintenance who tells us that the air conditioning needs servicing which will take a couple of hours. Since we were on.the road all day and had many business meetings the next day we asked for a room change and were denied. Finally after much pleading to speak to a manager did we get another room. So they have someone come up to give us new keys and move us. Miraculously another room with two beds and air that is working. So the next day we go to order room service and get told they only have to go items no coffee and toast because toast would acclimate to being delivered. Are you kidding me? In all the hotels around the world no one else has an issue but this place. After breakfast and morning meetings two of the group fell I'll and had to fly home early. So needless to say our group of four was down to only me. The next day while trying to get work done I asked for a late check out I was only given 1 PM due to my Marriott frequent award status only. Let me tell you this to be sure we will never stay at this location again. read more

This hotel gets a one star due to the noisy noisy room: 640 and 642. Adjacent. Family had 2 rooms and the AC condenser goes on full loud freight train noise 24/7. One of few places we like to stay in Seattle. Probably as good as it gets considering the pandemic. The Front desk staff was quick and very busy this weekend as Angels were in town to play the Mariners It's easy to walk to Pike Street Market and downtown Shopping if you don't mind a little uphill walking. Or, You can easily checkout some shops and restaurants along the bay. Valet parking on site and limited parking across the lot. Other parking garages nearby. read more

Eek! I won't be back. This hotel is hard to get to from anywhere in downtown. It's a bit of a walk. The bar is open and has room but the barkeep is horrible. He won't give you a menu until you are ready to order. We complained twice to the management about this. They seemed surprised and offered me some Marriott reward points. I really didn't want points. I would have preferred a couple free drinks and a manager to deal with the barkeep in real time. Instead we went down the street to Six Seven Restaurant and had a great time. Go there! The Marriott bar sucks and management doesn't seem to care. Sad end to a Christmas party. Thanks Marriott. I'm not coming back to the Seattle Waterfront again. read more

I used Bonvoy points and would give this hotel a 3.5 star. It is literally in the waterfront area. It is about a 10 minute walk to Pike Place Market. Super close to the ferris wheel, the aquarium and the pier itself. They have an M Lounge for special guests that includes complimentary breakfast and dinner snacks with unlimited drinks. Alcohol is not free. They have an indoor pool that also leads to the outside. They have a restaurant, fitness center, nice lobby. I just thought the room could use a little upgrade as things felt slightly old or damaged. It was comfortable overall. read more

I would not recommend a stay at this hotel. The WIFI in the room was very slow and unreliable. There is a freight train that runs right next to the hotel several times a night. Literally a freight train. It is extremely loud and shakes the whole building. We arrived at 4 pm and our room was not ready with no estimate on when it would be ready. The room service and front desk did not ever answer the phone and we tried may times. The phone in our room did not work. read more

At some point in the past, this must have been a grand hotel...now, it is simply getting by for its location. Don't get me wrong, the views of the waterfront from the balconies of the corner suites are majestic, but everything else in what should be a full-service hotel comes up quite short. Check-in experience is dreadful. Regardless of the time of day, the front desk is understaffed and unable to efficiently process the check in queue. The location of the front desk is probably not helping matters much, since it is hidden by two columns, and leaves the queue standing directly in the path of any guest coming in who wants to get to the elevators or the bar. The rooms are well appointed, but missing anything that would make you feel like they cared about the travelers staying within. The desk has no easily accessible power outlets, so be prepared to crawl underneath and route your own cables just to do a bit of work. The large LCD TVs are nice, until you realize that the TV in the bedroom (by design, according to the front desk) has no connection to Internet TV, so no Netflix, HBO, or even streaming from your own device. This modern convenience (honestly, standard) is only available on the display in the living room. The executive lounge serves a breakfast fit for a Holiday Inn Express, so be prepared to hike down Alaska to get a proper start to your day. In short, unless you need the view, find any one of Seattle's hotels in this area as a better option for your money. read more

Sincerely mixed feelings about this one. It started out great. Friendly valet, awesome front desk clerk. Then I tried to go to dinner. The place that I wanted to go was near pikes market. That was one of the reasons I chose this hotel. But it's damn near impossible to get there. You think it's a block or two away but it's a 30 minute walk. Basically, on both sides of the hotel there are condos. They are those seriously industrial looking fenced in ugly ass kind. You can't get through them. You have to walk many blocks to go around them. So I thought I'd rent a scooter. Every scooter was unavailable. So apparently here you can reserve them and then leave them. I paid the $55 for valet parking but really hated to remove my car for what looks to be a to short walk. I wasn't sure if I can find parking. It was pretty ridiculous. If you want to walk along the waterfront, it was fine. The desk clerks were wonderful. My room was clean and comfortable. My only issue was really the location--it is convenient for some things, but unfortunately not others. read more

We relocated to this hotel because the other hotel we were at was surrounded by homeless people - and we were paying over $300 so it wasn't a low budget hotel. I was very excited to be staying at a Waterfront hotel but when we got there I wasn't overly impressed. There wasn't much around there, one restaurant across the street and here's the killer part - so you don't have to walk up a massive hill that is like walking on a treadmill at a level 10 incline, they have an elevator. Well guess what, the elevator was broken, so you had to walk up a ton of stairs and then once you got up the ton of stairs, you had to walk up another hill to get to the famous Seattle pier that everyone goes too. I noticed that people had glasses and coffee cups outside their rooms and they were there for hours. We would leave in the morning and when we came back in the afternoon the glasses/plates were still there. In a high end hotel, I found that unacceptable. The lobby was very nice with a big bar and it was also attached to a restaurant which I didnt even realize until the day we left. If you are a high end Marriott member you get access to their lounge which was super nice and very perfect for the lifestyle we lead. Starbucks coffee in the AM along with breakfast buffet. Then at night they had beer, wine (probably for a cost not sure) and they had some nice light offerings that was all free. Cheese, Jam, Crackers, Meat, etc. We were only eating lunch out while we stayed at this hotel because no need to eat out when you get free "light" offerings at your hotel. After walking around all day you are tired and a light fare offering is just fine for me. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever in Seattle but in all honesty I hope to never need to go to Seattle again as I was very un-impressed with the state! read more

This hotel is not only a perfect location for someone cruising into or out of Seattle, it's also incredibly clean, has a terrific staff and a great M Club as well for Marriott BonVoy Elite members. Emily Perry, one of the managers made us feel right at home. My husband sustained an injury on our cruise, severely limiting his mobility, and canceling our plans to get to know the city. Our daughter called the hotel to see about arranging a special local treat for us, given we were stuck in our room instead of exploring the city. Not only did Emily take my daughter's call and send up two local beers, she did it on the house! This is why we remain loyal to the Marriott Brand for the last 20+ years... they are simply the best and always put people first! Solely rating the concierge lounge available to platinum members and 3 stars at best. I choose my hotel based on amenities but we ended up staying here for location and it truly is a trade off. The lounge breakfast is mostly continental - lots of pastries granola and cereal but only 2 hot foods - eggs & sausage. The lounge dinner is a vegetable platter, with two small hot items. Not great. Room is standard, a bit small but we do have ocean view. The pool is heated but smell and looks like it hasn't been cleaned recently. Gym is alright. But small. Machines are up to date read more

A solid four stars for a last minute request to stay an additional day. Check in was smooth although I arrived at 7 am and had no expectation that my room would be ready but was in no rush as I was doing work with this property. Upon completion of my work, I had received a text later that morning that my room was ready. I was placed in a recently renovated room which was super nice facing the harbor with a great view. The next day my colleague and I had a wonderful breakfast of eggs Benedict and the all meat omelette with the sourdough toast from the Macarena Bakery which is a local institution in the Seattle area. Kudos to Chef Francis and his breakfast team as everything that was plated was spot on. Thank you for a great stay! read more

This hotel is a nice hotel when in Seattle because it is relatively close to the Amazon pet headquarters and meeting rooms. The Thompson is a Hyatt brand now and has a very cool rooftop bar for ambiance. I have stayed at the The Thompson on past trips to see our Amazon buyer. I especially like the proximity of this hotel, being smack dab in the middle of Pike Place Market and if you are a Hyatt member you can also use points to pay for this hotel stay. So going to the market and carrying home bags of fruit or treats that you pick up at the market does not break your back as it's not too far back to the room. Rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and offer free Wi-Fi, and flat-screens, as well as rainfall showers and designer toiletries. The Thompson is always a contender when coming to Seattle on business and I'm sure I will be staying here again soon read more

Full closure, I worked here as a bellman for about five years during college. During that time, I got to know the inner workings of a place, could direct you to any ice machine you desired, knew where the rooms were for the people that we wanted to impress, as well as the people who booked last minute on Expedia. After a decade, and I finally had a chance to stay here and was excited to finally experience what I'd been telling people about so long ago. Like everywhere in Seattle, the parking has gotten very expensive. The valet folks are very professional and helpful, but it's still $50+ to park overnight. Street parking is limited and not overly plentiful. Lobby is very inviting with some good hang out space and a small mini mart style store just to the left when you come in. We all appreciate the chance to grab pringles and some wine when the night is young, but you're too long to hang out late! The rooms were nice, but not much different than when I was there in 2003. Many have a small balcony with a partial water view and there are few things nicer than a sunset over Elliott bay. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms slightly nicer than average and the TV is solid - LOVE that they have connected TVs with NETFLIX that you can sign into. Definitely extra points for that. A very nice place with friendly staff, a nice bar in the lobby and a comfy room. Not the swankiest place, but with access to the waterfront and Pike Place, it's a solid option when you're in Seattle. read more

Rooms are standard Marriott pre-renovation. Carpet flooring. Refrigerator in room. Carpet in hallway on 5th floor was bubbling up in places where glue had failed. I went around 11pm on a Sunday night tom this location. The front desk Robert was so kind and helpful to me. First of this is only 10 months living in Seattle Washington I'm from Bayside- flushing queens area I am an business owner I had drop off my boyfriend at bell harbor I was cold and I had cash with me, Robert was has excellent customer service skills compare to the other worker who wanted to kick me out when literally it was freezing rain and snow and I was trying to get a lyft home. Thanks to Robert I will be booking a business venue for 30 to 50 people, but if I had meet that other guy who didn't want to help me out or offer me coffee when the machine only took credit. Flawless online check in with app. Used mobile key on my phone to go right to my room, a sunny little corner unit on the top floor. Stellar view of the cruise ship wharf, ferris wheel, water, and even Mt Rainier in the distance on a sunny day... days which lasted 18 hours. I was literally going to bed while it was still light out and waking up with the Sun already up. That's Seattle in June. Had an ant problem at the work desk. The downstairs restaurant is only open for breakfast and dinner but some days it was inexplicably closed. An attempt at lunch room service resulted in a phone call telling me the kitchen was "not working." I later found out they were understaffed. One day at 2pm I attempted to use the room phone to contact a staff member; it rang for a good minute and no one picked up. Food was very good, as was the service staff in the restaurant. The room air conditioning was adequately cold; I set it on 62 at night and that's what I got. No BS hotel overrides or motion sensor shut off. However, it was very loud, to the point I thought a cruise ship was blowing its horn every time it started up. The hallway carpeting is VERY thick. This made it extremely difficult to roll heavy luggage to the elevators, and I do CrossFit. Despite multiple requests I could not get housekeeping to clean my room consistently every morning while I was out for breakfast. I was compensated points. There is an outside elevator nearby that takes you right up to Pike Market so no car needed. Would stay here again. read more

Lovely hotel in an absolutely terrific location. I burned a few Marriott points and upgraded to a water view room and it was a doozy. Fourth floor with a balcony that faced out to a marina, the harbor, East Seattle and Bainbridge Island. The first day, it was a little overcast but that went away for a spectacular view! Very short walk to the Pike Public Market and a medium walk to the Space Needle and other attractions. The room was excellent and very comfortable with the usual features of a Marriott full service property - a bar and a coffee shop in the lobby, a full restaurant, room service, concierge lounge (not open on weekends, as is normal) and such. Our first day out, the room wasn't serviced when we returned at 1:30 PM (when I called down for fresh towels, they were delivered with a smile.) but the next day it was taken care of properly. The room itself was quiet, but the ventilation in the bathroom let you hear some of the other bathrooms. Oops. As a Marriott Platinum Elite, my internet was free otherwise it's an insane $12.95 per day. Unlimited devices, I was able to use my laptop, my phone's wifi and my wife was able to use her iPad without a problem other than needing to re-authenticate every 24 hours. Parking prices are absurd. $38 a day plus tax. If you're not planning on leaving the hotel, consider just taking a taxi from the airport and back. Really! TIP: DO NOT LET YOUR PHONE TELL YOU HOW TO GET HERE. It will try to take you the "shortest" route, which is the most frustrating and has the most traffic. I can't believe it took me 45 minutes to drive it. Instead, simply take I-5 north from the airport to exit 164 (Seneca Street). read more

First the bad: When I booked through Marriott's website, it didn't mention all this construction noise. Upon check-in, I was told about it, and if it was problem that they would help us. I wasn't sure what "help us" meant. The next day when the noise started at 7am, I understood. For gods sake, that was noisy! We complained and asked for another room, and was told that they didn't have any room available to move us to. We then asked them to contact us when one becomes available. They never contacted us nor "helped " us with this problem. On check-in, I wasn't told there was little to no options for housekeeping services. When they didn't show up my second day there, I called and asked for it, but I was indeed told right there and then that i should've been told my limited options at check-in. Yet another unfortunate surprise. Minor issues involved the lobby running outta complimentary coffee before 9am. Also, it took a few hours for front desk and IT to help me logon the WiFi with my mac. I had to call to their IT a few times to get online. It shouldn't be that hard to logon to WiFi from my laptop. Lenora bridge is a shortcut to pike place market adjacent to Marriot. Unfortunately, it was under repair, so we had to walk a lil farther to go up to pike place market. Not horrible, just a lil inconvenient. The good: Location near aquarium , restaurants, bars, coffee, hiking, and shopping is great. Hey, it's just a lil walk up some stairs to get to all that pike place market has, and it's worth it. Ferry to Bainbridge is so close. Uber Lyft to anywhere. I recommend not to rent a car to go around town. Parking around Seattle sucks. Then the hotel charges something like $55/night to park. Seattle vibe is great. Just watch out for aggressive homeless ppl downtown. That's just like any big city downtown though. Marriot did eventually turnover our room twice during our stay. And they gave us extra towels. I've been with marriot/Westin/bonvoy for several years now, and I'm definitely not a hater. But I will never come back here for a Seattle stay. It's too loud, I wasn't aware of it upon booking, and I wasn't given any help with that problem during my stay. read more

As a Marriott, this hotel is pretty standard, except I feel that this Marriott was a bit impersonal. The decorations feel cold and it doesn't have much character. Due to the location and price, I thought it would have more Seattle or waterfront character. It may be a good option if you are a gold elite member or higher (I was 2 nights from gold... so close) since they have a lounge where you get free breakfast and happy hour. Due to location, the price is much more expensive than the traditional Marriott and parking will cost you upwards of $50/day. However, if you are lucky to be here on a Sunday or holiday, parking is free at the meters in front of the hotel. A much better option than the parking garage or valet and you can pay via app on your smartphone. There is also a city lot, across the bridge where you can park for less expensive as well. It is easy to walk to Pike's Place or the Waterfront. At this time, there is some construction on the waterfront so the sidewalk is being repaired or blocked in some areas. read more
