This is a great hotel for a Seattle vacation (or staycation!), a romantic getaway, a girls weekend, or for a quick stay before or after a cruise. The cruise port is across the street from the hotel - super convenient.
For those seeking things to do in Seattle, hotel is walking distance from Pike Place, the aquarium, the waterfront walkway and bike path, parks, downtown attractions, and numerous wonderful restaurants and bars right on the water. The view from the 8th floor water view rooms is breathtaking, showing off Mt. Rainier, the waterfront ferris wheel, Pike Place, and the whole of downtown. Daytime and nighttime views are spectacular.
If you opt to stay close to the hotel or just want a quick bite or drink, the hotel has a restaurant and two bar choices, as well as The M Club, which is the indoor/outdoor executive lounge that is quite stunning! We ordered room service for dinner and breakfast during our stay, and both arrived warm and right on time. The hotel has a quick service type of room service that arrives in a shopping bag. It sounds weird, but I assure you that it's pretty awesome. The bags have perforated tear lines down each side that opens the bag to create like a table cloth or bed topper. The condiments arrive in a little box and everything is self contained. It was also an easy clean up! The rooms also offer coffee, tea, and a fridge. We didn't check for an honor bar.
The hotel is really clean. Our bathroom was spotless. We had a big walk-in shower, which seemed like it replaced a bathtub/shower following a renovation. The shower had some orange stains along the bottom of he glass door, but it felt otherwise very clean and maintained. The bathroom counter was huuuge and there was a convenient outlet. The two downers in the bathroom were the annoyingly tall toilet, which seems to be the new trend in Marriotts, and a lack of towel rack options, another annoying trend in Marriotts! I'm 5'3, and the toilet seat is like a high chair, floating up in space. It's kind of uncomfortable for us shorties. Second, where does Marriott want us to put our hand towels?! There wasn't a single rack or hook in the direct vicinity of the sink, so we had to clean damp towels on the counter top. They don't dry that way, so we went through an excessive number of them during our stay. Also, I'd be amiss without suggesting that guests request a second bar of soap at check-in. It was annoying to have to share 1 bar of soap between the shower and the sink.
The room itself was updated, clean, stylish, and comfortable. The bedding was great - very similar to the San Francisco JW Marriott Union Square's, where we stayed last week. Luxurious and fluffy, the bed and bedding were a great place to sleep. The curtains kept out the morning sun, and the sheer curtains were very pretty (and what hotel ever has nice sheer curtains?!). We had a larger balcony, which was perfect for enjoying the view with a drink in hand. The room stayed cool, and it was easy to change the temperature. My husband's only complaint was that the air conditioner was a little loud at night, but I slept through it just fine.
We also loved the lobby bar, where we had dinner and drinks one night. We loved the breads & dips appetizer with local Beecher's cheese (OMG TO DIE FOR!), and the bread was perfect. We both had steak for our mains, and they were cooked just right. We had mixed drinks and bought a bottle of prosecco, all of which were perfect. The bottle wasn't too overpriced. Service was excellent, too.
We used the M Lounge during off hours. It was always clean, and there were always a few drink and snack options. We loved the beer and wine taps! No problem finding alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options and snacks at any time throughout the day. My husband wandered down on our last morning for coffee at around 10am on a Sunday, and he brought back fruit, donuts, and coffee. He said breakfast service was over, but there were still a few choices.
We were thrilled that they have Internet TV, so it was super convenient to watch Netflix and Hulu on the room TV. We hope Marriott adds Amazon Prime to the mix soon!
Service in general at the hotel was top notch. We arrived at a very busy time, but staff moved through the line quickly. When there was some kind of snag with our reservation, a manager quickly fixed it for us without any hitch or problem. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job with our room. The valet was fast, even during a busy time.
This was our second or third stay at this hotel, and my folks stay at this hotel when they are in town. We recommend this place to everyone.
Be aware that the Waterfront Marriott is pricier than other Marriott options in Seattle, but we've stayed at 2 others, and we think this is *the best* overall of the bunch, it has the very best views, and it's super convenient to downtown.
