I've only ordered online admittedly, but I wasn't that disappointed. Sure it took several days to process my order, and they didn't have the colors I wanted, but I kind of knew what to expect going in. You can tell just by looking at their website they're not the most tech savy firm, but they're the ones with the goods. When I need high performance materials I know theres one place I can get everything I need. It won't be fast and it won't be perfect, but the alternatives in many cases are far in away worse. read more

I needed water resistant material and was very clear about it to the clerk. She helped me to purchase one but I found out that it wasn't water resistant after I tested it at home. So, I brought it back to the store. She said she wasn't clear about what I needed. What?! I even had brought a sample material with me! Anyway, she said she can't take a return. I didn't want to waste my time so I said fine and asked her what kind of things I can make with this material. She said anything that not for water resistant. Don't you think I know that??? The staff is not friendly or knowledgeable and their customer service is NONEXISTENT! Fabric is mislabeled and ALL SALES ARE FINAL. So even if the mistake is theirs, the buyer suffers the consequences. On three different occasions the fabric has been mislabeled, only once did they admit it, the other two times they tried to convince me that "different dye lots have different feels." Called this shop from out of town because they carry the high-tech activewear fabrics I'm looking for. They have a good website, and great selection of hard to find fabrics. Unfortunately on the weekends the staff on duty is not at all knowledgeable. The person answering the phone was unable to answer questions about the fabrics and said "There are three of us who work on the weekends. We can't answer questions about the fabric because we don't use it, we just sell it." She told me that I should call back and speak to one of the owners. This person also had trouble answering a question about shipping and seemed quite put out that I asked whether the store shipped via the United States Postal Service. (Hmmmm . . . wonder if the owners know how their weekend staff handles calls from potential customers.) read more

they waited 5 days then shipped my fabric with 1 day priority... mind u im 1 hr from them in state I could of spent the same price and gotten it the same day in person im annoyed next time im better off going in person read more

Update to my negative review... I received an answer to my email inquiry which stated that the additional charge was in error and the difference was to be credited (which it was). Fair enough...I'll probably do business with them again. read more

Having shopped there for years I have seen the pile of orders and the "shipping dept." in the back. It is literally one guy. The amazing part is that they fill that many with just a handful of people. Charging 5-10$ to jump to the front of the line does not seem fair to me either. People should learn to wait their turn and anticipate what they need and not procrastinate. Cutting to the front is not fair for all the other people with orders. read more

Misadvertising a product and refusal to take ownership of mistake. Did not get the product I ordered in good faith based on website info. Agreed that it had been a problem in the past with other customers--not an isolated mistake. Left me high and dry with a product I can't use. What they should do is own this problem and reimburse the costs for shipping and product, once returned. That's good customer service. read more

It is said that customer service is becoming a lost art, well, seattle fabrics has certinaly lost it. The customer service (if you can even call it that is terrible); for the amount of customers in the shop, there were plenty of employes to adiquetly help us. I felt like I had to go out of my way to get help and when I did it felt like I was inconviencing the employee. If I didn't tell him that I wanted a specific amount of a specific fabric while he was cutting the current fabric for me he was walking away from me as soon as he handed me my fabric. There was no "is there anything else you wanted or need help with". As far as the selection of fabric, it's great, but certianly not a bargen by any stretch of the imagination. read more

I was hoping the horrible customer service reviews were the result of trolls, but I'm sad to say, they aren't. They have a great inventory and carry lots of items that are hard to find elsewhere. Sadly, I think it would be easier to start a business and compete against them with good Customer Service than it would be to try to get help from a knowledgeable employee there. Take the time to look online. Most fabrics are at a 300% mark-up from wholesale pricing. Customer Service is non-existent and they do not offer wholesale pricing. If you want a yard and cannot find it elsewhere it's worth the stop but at $4 a gallon for gas if you are driving very far buy it online at the best price. read more

I too am having a negative experience with this company. I placed an online order for a single item. It took 12 days to get here. They charge a $4 handling fee. (Item only cost $1.80 but it was the only place I could find the item I wanted in the color I needed.) This is not a shipping fee. Then when item finally arrived it was not the color I ordered. So much for paying them to "handle" the item if they aren't going to "handle' the item I asked for. What they sent is not even close to what I ordered let alone what I needed so I can't even just go ahead and settle for it. I ordered a "NATURAL" colored strap they sent a BLACK colored strap. So I called the number and I never get an answer. Just a click and like someone hung up. Every time I call. Click, hang up. Have not spoken to a single person there. Also sent an email about the issue and what are they going to do to satisfy my problem with the order. Apparently they don't look at emails or they don't care to satisfy customers. I will never do business with them again because they don't know business to begin with. read more

I've been into this store three times now over the past 3 years. They have great marine fabrics and being able to see the colors and texture is by far one of the best reasons to go to this place. I agree with the other reviews (the negative ones) that customer service here is bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. IF....I repeat......IF you can get one of the sour-pusses to make eye contact with you (they do purposely avoid you and are blatant about it) or answer a question, they will do the minimal effort and scowl at you the whole time. It seemed to me they look at customers and laugh/talk about them in plain view and within close enough distance for the customers to hear. It is the strangest 'customer service' I have ever experienced. I hope the owner and/or managers can read these reviews to see where this company is seriously lacking. People cringe when they need to go into this store and get fabric cut or ask for advice on fabrics. On-line ordering is available for the people who know what they want and can avoid the human interaction with these people......but customer BEWARE when you go into here looking for help. I had HORRIBLE customer service from SF. I mail ordered like four each of many items of their hardware and when it was shipped to me the items werer all in one big bag. The shipping list has about 3 full pages of hardware line items and it was really time consuming for me to go thru each line item and have to decode which line item was associated with which item in the bag. I called them and they said they said they cannot take the time to ID the part # on items like that. I then talked to them again and asked if they would do it if I mailed the items back to them and they said no. It seems to me that the items could have been easily and more effficiently identitifien when pulling from the bins. I am a little customer granted. I am obviously insignificant to them. I got the impression that the ops employees were not escalating to the boss....like they were covering up. No self-respecting boss or owner would treat a customer that way. They do have a nice product line but caveat emptor...they will turn on you. read more
