    "Respect" quilt no. 2 top

Our Fabric Stash is a Seattle treasure! As a Black-owned business, they deserve your support and patronage now more than ever. During the many months of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have come to rely on Our Fabric Stash for astute design advice as well as lovely organic cottons, to create the "Respect" quilt project (see pics). I have nothing but praise for the excellent customer service and kindly advice I've received from owner Deborah Boone. Thank you! Julia https://www.honeygirlbooks.com/

30+ face masks sewn for a local meal delivery service thanks to Our Fabric Stash.

During the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic, I was searching Seattle for fabric and elastic to make face masks. Found the perfect selection here, and I can't say enough about the fantastic guidance and service. Great recommendations - Highly recommend!

I am obsessed with this store!! Deborah was absolutely incredible in helping me pick out these super fun fabrics for an ottoman and some dining room chairs! She has an awesome selection, she's super sweet and I'm just bummed I don't live closer to go back more often!

I only bought two little pens and a sewing pattern, and I'm not even sure what the subtotal was. I assumed it was 75c with tax, so just in case I pulled out two dollars. The lady told me "I need 4 cents." I thought she meant the total was $1.04, so I told her "Oh I don't have coins, I'll pay with card so you don't have to make change." She gave me a pointed look and said, "...then I'll have to charge you an extra 50c" I was super confused, but that was fine. I thought it over a little, and then she told me, "Your total is only 96c" Totally fine, I gave her one dollar and told her to keep the change. Usually... you tell the customer their total and they can figure out what to give you. Not a weird vague comment. She's not mean, she helped me find a nearby bathroom, and she told another customer she's worked at a paint store before, so I think she's just... odd. I think staff needs a little more consistent training, it was somewhat uncomfortable.

I can't believe I had never explored this store before!…read more Seattle recreative (the sodo location) has just about everything you could ever need for crafting. They had fabric, all aspects of sewing and scrapbooking, jewelry making, bulk paint and glue, glitter, and a wide selection of different containers. I don't think I could even write everything they had. The prices are dirt cheap: I bought 9 or 10 things for $5. If you (like me) are really into sustainability, I can't think of a better place to pick up your crafting supplies.

Somehow, I had never heard of Seattle ReCreative, but I'm glad I stumbled upon it! The store doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's much bigger than it looks. The front rooms have sewing supplies, knitting/crochet needles, fabric and notions, plus modeling clay, jewelry and beading stuff. As you go further back, there's a room with office supplies, a section of cards and stationery and paper ephemera. The biggest area is in the back, though, where the main warehouse is. That's where you'll find gift bags and tissue, floral supplies, wicker baskets and tins, paint, and tons more random stuff. The other side of the warehouse is a crafting area that looks like it can be rented out - they said they had had a bunch of kids in earlier for a field trip. You definitely have to sift through the piles of stuff to find what you're looking for, but the prices are very reasonable. I love that it's reducing waste and encouraging creative reuse - anyone with hobbies knows how expensive it can be to get started with supplies, and this is a good way to try things out inexpensively. (Or get rid of the evidence of an abandoned hobby.) Their hours are a bit limited, but similar to other small crafting/hobby supply shops. Overall, if you're willing to roll up your sleeves and hunt, there's lots of treasure to be found!

Meeting her in person only confirmed it. She listened carefully to every single one of my needs and accommodated each one with such grace and care. My wedding dress is chiffon, and she created the most gorgeous custom bustle in the back that made it look beautifully layered and flowing. Beyond her extraordinary skill, she made me feel beautiful. She complimented me, lifted my spirits, and even took the time to teach me how to walk without tripping on my train. That kind of thoughtfulness goes so far beyond what any seamstress is required to do. After I picked up my perfectly hemmed, bustled, and altered dress, I had a small panic moment (actually, a major panic moment) when I realized the style looked slightly different than I remembered from when I originally ordered it from Anthropologie. I called Svetlana in a near meltdown, and without hesitation, she invited me to come in that very same day. Within 20 minutes, she had fixed everything flawlessly!! I was in disbelief!! Svetlana is a true miracle worker, and anyone who gets to work with her is incredibly, incredibly lucky. I will be forever grateful that she was a part of my wedding journey!!! Her advice saved me money and helped ensure my dress looks best for the big day, and I'm so grateful! I recommend coming to her if you need guidance on alterations needs!
