    "Respect" quilt no. 2 top

Our Fabric Stash is a Seattle treasure! As a Black-owned business, they deserve your support and patronage now more than ever. During the many months of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have come to rely on Our Fabric Stash for astute design advice as well as lovely organic cottons, to create the "Respect" quilt project (see pics). I have nothing but praise for the excellent customer service and kindly advice I've received from owner Deborah Boone. Thank you! Julia https://www.honeygirlbooks.com/

30+ face masks sewn for a local meal delivery service thanks to Our Fabric Stash.

During the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic, I was searching Seattle for fabric and elastic to make face masks. Found the perfect selection here, and I can't say enough about the fantastic guidance and service. Great recommendations - Highly recommend!

I am obsessed with this store!! Deborah was absolutely incredible in helping me pick out these super fun fabrics for an ottoman and some dining room chairs! She has an awesome selection, she's super sweet and I'm just bummed I don't live closer to go back more often!

There were popular brands with a large selection from each such as Fableism, Ruby Star Society, Sarah Hearts, etc. I ended up with some gorgeous deadstock cotton seersucker, out of my comfort zone but very special. One critique is that their bottomweight and coating section was fairly limited, but I'm assuming that they were slowly transitioning into Spring/Summer choices at that time. Everything felt high quality and intentionally selected, not at all like the big box stores. Pricing was on-par with most independent stores - not cheap, but worth it. I hear that they have sales every once in awhile so I will be on the lookout. The day I went, it was absolutely packed! The parking lot is relatively small so you might have to get lucky or circle around a few times when you visit.

Geared towards people who want to make their own outdoor gear (by the way, how cool is that?!) Seattle Fabrics is also a treasure trove of goodness for those of us in the bag-making community. From vinyl to nylon to mesh this is not the place to look for quilting cottons, but if you like to think out of the fabric box you've come to the right place. And even though some of the larger chain fabric stores carry some outdoor-friendly products this place carries them in EVERY color. They also have an amazing selection of bag hardware in all sizes, quite possibly the most impressive selection of zippers EVER, and enough fleece to cover the entire city in one big blanket. Their prices were super reasonable too. I've been buying my glitter vinyl online for twice what I paid here. The place isn't fancy, and you might have to do some digging, but when I couldn't find a couple of things the nice guy at the cutting counter was happy to help. They also have a tempting selection of patterns. Want to make your own tent, ski clothing, or backpack? Need to reupholster your boat? Sailboat needs a new canvas? This is your place!

They had fabric, all aspects of sewing and scrapbooking, jewelry making, bulk paint and glue, glitter, and a wide selection of different containers. Somehow, I had never heard of Seattle ReCreative, but I'm glad I stumbled upon it! The store doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's much bigger than it looks. The front rooms have sewing supplies, knitting/crochet needles, fabric and notions, plus modeling clay, jewelry and beading stuff. As you go further back, there's a room with office supplies, a section of cards and stationery and paper ephemera. The biggest area is in the back, though, where the main warehouse is. That's where you'll find gift bags and tissue, floral supplies, wicker baskets and tins, paint, and tons more random stuff. The other side of the warehouse is a crafting area that looks like it can be rented out - they said they had had a bunch of kids in earlier for a field trip. You definitely have to sift through the piles of stuff to find what you're looking for, but the prices are very reasonable. I love that it's reducing waste and encouraging creative reuse - anyone with hobbies knows how expensive it can be to get started with supplies, and this is a good way to try things out inexpensively. (Or get rid of the evidence of an abandoned hobby.) Their hours are a bit limited, but similar to other small crafting/hobby supply shops. Overall, if you're willing to roll up your sleeves and hunt, there's lots of treasure to be found!
