I can't believe it took me until now to check out this place! They had a large apparel fabric, quilting fabric, and even furniture and other technical fabric, all sorts of notions, even a large yarn section and miscellaneous crafts. There were popular brands with a large selection from each such as Fableism, Ruby Star Society, Sarah Hearts, etc. I ended up with some gorgeous deadstock cotton seersucker, out of my comfort zone but very special. One critique is that their bottomweight and coating section was fairly limited, but I'm assuming that they were slowly transitioning into Spring/Summer choices at that time. Everything felt high quality and intentionally selected, not at all like the big box stores. Pricing was on-par with most independent stores - not cheap, but worth it. I hear that they have sales every once in awhile so I will be on the lookout. The day I went, it was absolutely packed! The parking lot is relatively small so you might have to get lucky or circle around a few times when you visit. read more

After we chose the material (inventory was a bit low but we were just replacing basic black vinyl seats), they cut the foam and fabric to fit the seat template I brought. I paid for Pacific Fabrics' Sewing 101 class, and went to the store to purchase the required materials. There's a wide variety of fabrics to choose from, and one could easily spend hours looking at the selection. I asked a sales associate for help to ensure I had the correct supplies since I'm a newbie and had no idea what everything on the list meant; she was incredibly helpful and made my time there a lot more efficient. I gave 3 stars primarily because of the class itself. The instructor was extremely knowledgable, but did not seem to respect the students' time. Class started at 10:30 a.m. and was supposed to end at 3 p.m. (per registration and the confirmation email), but we didn't start making pillows (what we had to buy materials for) until after 1pm. Before that, we spent time learning about the instructor's and the six students sewing interests/ background (formalities), sewing machine parts (excellent foundational knowledge), Pacific Fabric's building history and sewing machine history (interesting but not important), and the differences between the instructor's experience teaching adults versus teaching children (this was an adult class so not sure why so much time was needed on this comparison). As we approached 3 p.m., I asked the instructor when class is supposed to end. She replied, "We'll finish when we finish" which felt so dismissive and disrespectful of my time. It's like she forgot she was teaching her adult class, and not a children's class. We didn't finish until almost a quarter after 4 p.m! I have multiple commitments a day, and luckily was able to text and have someone cover, so that I could learn what I paid for. I'm not sure how well I am prepared to continue sewing once I get a machine since we didn't insert the bobbin thread ourselves which through Q/A in class we learned is needed with the top thread spool to make a stitch. But I think I can take what I did learn, and with the help of youtube and/or AI, will be able to figure it out. Overall, I found both the instructor and sales associates to be highly knowledgable and experienced. I've never bought fabrics / sewing materials before and so am not sure on their pricing/ value compared to other stores. The class price itself was reasonable/ comparable to other art-related classes I've taken. I would only recommend the class to others if they have the entire day free. Otherwise, there's no guarantee when class will end. read more

The classes are great and flexible. All levels of abilities are honored and the atmosphere is affirming. I learned how to use new tools and methods to make everything easier and more finished looking. I've been sewing for decades--very on and off--and the quilt class refreshed my memory and made everything easy and efficient. The service here is lovely and attentive; the sewing supplies and particularly quilting fabrics and supplies are very good here. However, given the space, there's nothing that sings to me in what's provided in the way of fabric. Seems to me they should provide what Joann Fabrics cannot, but they're trying to be that, but with fewer resources. This was particularly noticeable when it came to looking for unusual buttons (everything was plain and modern), and lace and trims (One-quarter of a wall with around five spools of each color? Really? Bric-a-brac and pompoms???). Absolutely nothing enticing in those trims. What was fun was the decorator fabric, fleeces and faux furs. And of course many quilting cottons. I hope they can maintain. We need them to give us what we can't get from chains. read more

My mom used to take me to this store when I was a kid. At that time it was called "Pacific Fabrics Outlet" and I remember it was in a spooky, windowless building and had LOTS of fabric. Fast forward ** years and I finally made it back and - OMG - I kid you not the place has not changed a bit! It's still in a spooky, windowless building that would be easy to pass if you didn't know it was there. The good news is they've kept current on their inventory of amazing fabrics - including (at this store in particular) an absolutely HUGE selection of home dec and upholstery fabrics. They also have several tables of flatfolds in many assorted varieties, plus the usual bolts of cottons, knits, and pretty much anything you could need. The staff here seems like they've worked here forever. They are friendly and helpful. I couldn't find felt (despite apparently walking past it four or five times) and one of the nice employees pointed me right to it. She even carried my bolts to the front for me where they were waiting when I was ready to get all my fabric cut. I bought a ton of stuff and my bill came out to less than $40 - impressive! read more

It's a wonderful fabric store and carries a huge variety of fabrics. I'm a Quilter and Quilting fabric is of very high-quality. They carry many designer fabrics, including Jason Yenter, a local artist. I can spend hours just wandering through this wonderful store. SNAKE EYES Due to covid and the risks of shopping traditionally, I tried buying sewing stuff online. Just got pants zippers 7", YKK, for 50 cents apiece through Amazon. Got stylish cotton poly shirt fabric for $12 a yard from Mood Fabric. Mailed to my home so I don't have to go out, which is nice considering my age and that covid risk still exists. Now, if Pacific had always been a real friend to working people, I'd feel some loyalty to them and would try to give them a significant part of my business. But they have not been anyone's friend except their own, as demonstrated by their prices. I don't feel the need to act on misplaced loyalty. The Pacific staff IS NOT who we are discussing here, they tend to be good folks. Their owners are who get the profits, and there is no moral imperative to serve those owners at my own expense. I met those owners 15+ years ago, and they were snooty and awfully high on themselves. How are the mighty fallen. They can fold up and leave town, if they haven't already, and I won't miss them. Try Amazon or Mood Fabric when you want huge selection, good prices and door to door service, as long as you can wait a few days for delivery. read more

Helpful staff that are very interested in locating what you want. Wall of needles, gadgets and must haves. Michele is the manager and is doing a great job. Located in an industrial area. As a Concierge at a Senior Living Facility, my 100 year old Resident, requested a trip to Pacific Fabric. l called ahead of time to see if my friend could access the building without too much trouble. I was asked if she was able to climb a few stairs and then proceed to a freight elevator, which l replied, yes. When we arrived, we were met at the steps and proceeded to the elevator. It was new to us and intriguing to see the business from the bottom up. We began shopping and were helped by many of the employees throughout our journey. As we checked out, the staff found out her age and promised her a 10% discount every time we returned. She was so thrilled with all the kindness of the staff and the gentleman that escorted us. He also walked us to our vehicle, which had a dead battery. Within 10 minutes, more staff members came outside to start our vehicle. She felt like she had gone back in time to a place where everyone was friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful experience at Pacific Fabrics and would recommend this business to all. Just so you know, I'm not a quilter/sewer by any means, so I can't speak to the fabric selection/prices. They do have an ok selection of other crafting supplies, however their prices aren't any better than other craft stores in town. I went in to get a gift card for a quilter friend. The gal who was at the register didn't know how to load a gift card, which I'm glad we checked the balance of the card before I left because it was blank. She called over another lady to help and it was a lengthy refund-redo transaction where these ladies were just subtly catty to each other about how to do the transaction. Should I not get a wicked gleam in my eye as I run my hand over the pink glitter vinyl? Does my purchase of upholstery fabric upset your quilting ways? Why so sour? Prices aren't greater than some fabric stores but holy bejeezus this has lots of specialty fabric like velvets, faux furs, upholstery and a bazillion prints for quilting, mild and wild. Prices range from cheap (on sale in the back) to okay. Way expensive for foam for projects, get it at Fred Meyer and you'll thank me, it's about 1/4th the price. They carry tons of notions as well, but no notion to be friendly apparently. read more

This is the outlet store for Pacific F&C, and I often come here instead of Ngate since SO works in SODO. The space is great here-- large area, plenty of selection, wide array of products and crafts covered. The downside (which is HUGE) is that the salespeople are ALWAYS, ALWAYS standoffish and rude. I've waited at the counter for a full 10 minutes while they completely ignored me, and that has happened twice over two different visits. I usually putter around myself and make sure I know exactly what I want / need to get, since no one ever offers help or advice, even when I attempt to ask for it. If it weren't so close, I would choose Acorn Yarn Shop every time. I haven't noticed a good price reduction from the regular Pacific Fabrics & Craft, either, so if you are thinking you can handle shitty staff to save a buck, think again. read more

The selection here is pretty great. I need some new curtains in a specific color combination (light pink, sky blue, and chartreuse) and after failing to find any options in a suitable fabric elsewhere, I found at least 5 candidates I'm actively considering. I also really liked the selection of unique patterns - they can get kind of expensive (a tiny robot print in a silky material that would be great for a blouse ran $20 a yard) but I didn't see anything over $20 a yard, and most were well under that price. They also have a pretty good selection of leftovers from the ends of bolts of designer fabrics in odd lengths and cuts, and oddly a lot of colors and thicknesses of lyrca. I'm glad this place is relatively close and offers a decent selection, since the other places I looked into were small and didn't have enough options to cover whatever thing I was looking for at the moment. read more

Hrm. Im not quite sold on Pacific Fabrics and Crafts just yet. With just 5 local locations I was happier to try to support this store instead of opting for a big box, chain store. And I know I'll be back but I'm not sure if I can quit the big box stores just yet. While I've heard from a lot of people that customer service here is lousy, it was the opposite for me. There was only one person I could see that was working there (which wouldn't be good if they were busy) but this particular woman was really friendly and smiley. What was disappointing however is the selection. While the prices are great, there is just a severe lack in products here. Yes, there's a ton of fabric, but some of it looks like it was ordered 15 years ago and has never, EVER been sold. Strange items like prints with bizarre or ugly patterns. And while this was just my personal opinion and there are more common, more popular styles and fabric types, there's just a lot more stuff I'd never buy. A few items that were nice were only available in small quantities or had already run out of stock. I did buy a few things and browsed for about 40 mins, trying to see if there was anything else I needed. I spotted lots of great stuff, but just 10x more 'just ok' things. read more

First of all, where is this place? I drove myself there a few weeks ago and I honestly still do not know where it is. I went up and down 4th, yelling at my phone map lady and becoming more and more enraged by the fact that there are about seventeen businesses on 4th that are all named "Pacific [Whatever]" and it is bananas. Anyway, when I finally got there and parked, I still didn't know I was there because I was pretty much just, like, on a loading dock. I saw the tiny sign pointing at the door, went through the door and up the stairs, and found myself in this... uh, "outlet" store. I wasn't there for fabric but they had a hell of a lot of it. I wanted to check out the yarn and found their selection pretty medium. The prices were the same or slightly higher than the small yarn shop where I've been taking lessons, which surprised me. When you hear "outlet" you think it's gonna be a bunch of cheap stuff with something slightly wrong with it. I guess the good news is that all the yarn is regular. I ended up buying a bunch, which a nice young weirdo took from me and left on the counter while I continued to shop. They had a decent selection of books, needles, and other accessories, and I finally found a small area with discounted mixed bags of yarn. I bought a few with small matching skeins in them to add to my collection, as well as several other regular and bizarro varieties. All told, I got out of there with a huge bag stuffed full of yarn for about $60. The staff were definitely focused on each other, but seriously, this is a weird store and if I worked there I would probably have to go to Mental Jamaica to get through the days. The guy who helped me was very nice and laughed at my jokes and was wearing confusing pants. I had the feeling that if I asked for help, they'd help me. It's not the best but it's not the worst.
