I purchased what the vendor listed as uranium glass pendants online. Upon receipt it was obvious they aren't uranium glass at all. The faint, weak blue glow under 365nm light indicates another mineral involved but not uranium. I took photos with an actual uranium glass bracelet to highlight the difference. The vendor immediately refunded me which allowed for the removal of my 3 star review which was the goal - admitted by this vendor. I suspect the vendor knew it wasn't uranium glass and this product will now be sold in the vendors retail store. CAVEAT EMPTOR! read more

The selection at bead world is amazing. Everything from charms, crystals, stones, polymer clay beads, stamps, wire, stretch magic.... & more. Everything you would need to hand make any kind of jewelry at any age, it's here. Cost: If you have self control ... you should be able to get what you need at a reasonable price. But be warned, Bead World is not cheap. I recently was in a pinch and went to Michael's and bought hundreds of beads for the same price I bought about 30-60 beads/charms/etc at Bead World. It's very easy to over spend here if you aren't careful because their items are expensive. And it's for a reason! They have beautiful crystals, rocks, glass, and Swarovski crystals! I think Bead World is almost like a luxury bead store. In my opinion. Anyways! Environment/Layout: The layout of the store is incredible. It's clean, simple, and everything you're curious about is right in front of you. Everything is organized meticulously. Dogs Welcome: Well behaved dogs are welcome! Huge dog lover here and I love seeing the furry friends come in to say hi! Staff: Some staff here are very kind while others are not. Don't expect a lot of friendly interaction from the staff here. AND they will always answer any questions you might have. They are helpful and knowledgeable if you ask intentional questions AND not very warm or friendly. I finally got to meet who I think is the owner the other day and I was so thankful to get a smile, "did you find everything okay?", and a "have a good day." I have been to Bead World many times and this was the first time ever I was talked to without initiating a conversation. Do NOT expect to get talked to much here if at all by the staff. Just grab a tray, look for what you need, and you'll know what to do. In addition, I've witnessed the staff be not so nice to each other and that made me realize it's not just me! Packaging: Once you buy all your beads, charms, lobster hooks, etc... it all goes into a little clear bag. Yup! They always put all the small pieces together in one little bag. I personally love this... but if you want to keep track of everything you bought, you'll have to wait until you get home and be mindful to have additional bags or small containers to keep track of what you just bought. Overall I love Bead World. It's an amazing store and I can tell the owner really loves what they do and wants to share that with everyone. visited here from out of state! this place was cool and loved that you could buy beads individually rather than strands. they do have strands as well tho. the individual beads can be a bit pricey as well but great selection & very organized. their pearl selection was a bit small which was unfortunate as that's usually my favorite section of bead stores. but they did offer more variety of other beads than other bead stores i've been to. they also have a punch card system which is cool! i'm not local so i did not pick one up but never seen that at a bead store! worth checking out!! read more

They provide you with trays with slots that separate the beads by value, for example 50¢, 75¢, etc. Very reasonable pricing in my opinion as you can buy individual beads and beads by bulk as well. You'll most likely find what you're looking here, because there are so many options. It's so fun to browse everything and see all the colorful bead options. Secondly, the prices are great. I was impressed with how affordable most things were here, especially compared to other jewelry stores. Finally, the staff is SO friendly. They're all committed to helping you with whatever project you're working on. Amazing selection of fun unique beads and beads in bulk as well. This is a great store for crafty bead projects. One of the staff members told me some fun facts about the czech beads when I was viewing them and I really appreciate when people are passionate/interested in the things they sell and where they work. I spent hours in this store because I am very bad at staying on task and should have thought out a little bit better of a color scheme since I would often stray even with a vague agenda, though I had nothing else to do that day so I didn't mind. The parking was a little tough and I ended up parking about a block or two away on the side street of a residential area. The beads themselves cost about 10c-$3 depending on generally how large/intricate they were and the beads on string were around $3-$9 for the ones I personally got. They had a decent chain selection, but it was a tad pricier to me so I didn't get much of that. read more

It's a treasure hunt. Great shop and very knowledgeable staff. As someone who is a novice to this type of crafting and jewelry work/repair having a goto source is invaluable. They have a wide selection of natural and artificial beads. As big as it is, there's always more. You can find all types of stones as well as a big selection of charms and clasps. I'll remember to take pics next time I'm there. You can find all kinds of stringing materials and as importantly people who can make recommendations as to what to use. I recently needed to repair some jewelry and decided to buy the tools I need. As a Pagan I have a lot of crystals and jewelry. It suffers from the wear and tear of daily use. The prices are very reasonable and you're helping a local business. Pre-Covid they had a work table where you could sit with other crafter. I live in Renton and drove all the way here to get beads. I am knitting a scarf that I wanted to add beads to. Several stores near me and online did not have what I need. I had found some I thought would work but they were actually too small. My frustration was mounting until I walked into this store and told the clerk that I need beads for a knitted scarf. She said, "You need size 6 Japanese beads" and took me to the display. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am happily knitting a gorgeous scarf. A heads up: the parking lot is a bit difficult to navigate. You just need to be careful and don't take an extra huge vehicle. read more

This was my second time shopping at BeadWorld. The first time the woman was not pleasant. She came across as condescending when I asked questions. I was looking for help to buy the right materials for a crafting group I run. The same thing happened the second time with another person. Definitely not helpful or pleasant....bordering on rude. To top it off the person at the register added in some extra charges to my bill. I wasn't paying much attention... but should have. When I got home and looked at the receipt the bin items @.75 and 1.50 were miscounted. And then he added an extra amount for a prepackaged item. I only had three, which were entered first and then another was added at the end. It is obvious he was cheating, as there was no other prepackaged items to ring up. I had a funny feeling about him when I was standing there. Watch you back and your pocketbook if you choose to shop there. Will not be going back! read more

I've only been here twice, but the singular two times that I have been in (over the span of these last 2 months) have been extremely diminished by Trish's general attitude. Just an unkind presence and feels like she's unhappy to help, when I'm never asking for anything crazy. I'm not much of a crafter but do enjoy the occasional craft class as something to keep me entertained. I've been on the mailing list of this store forever, but only made it in a few times to check it out in person. This is one of the few places I have seen that offers the chain making classes I was hoping to enroll in forever. Its a bit overwhelming with its huge variety of products, but definitely has a little bit of everything for your beading needs. I also love that they have cases in the store that let you check out examples of the products that the different classes teach, which definitely helps me find inspiration in what project I want to pursue next. I recently took a Chainmaille class here, basic byzantine chain and loved both the hobby and the class. The instructor was great, everything was included and the price was right. The time period to finish the project was a little too short, but with the right tools its easy enough to learn in the class and continue on making projects at home. I really enjoyed the handout we got to take home and have been using it to continue forward on my own. My only complaint is that there is no way to register for classes online. I also wish that different styles of this class were offered, but I am hoping that this is something that is available in the future. I enjoyed this project so much that I ended up getting some of the tools to continue on at home, I was thinking that I would be able to pick up supplies at my local craft store, but was soon disappointed by their selection and found myself heading back to beadworld. Here I could find exactly what I needed and prices seemed a bit more reasonable. I assume its easy to overspend in this store. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten overexcited about a new hobby, bought a ton of supplies and then immediately abandoned it, leaving all that craft stuff to go to waste. So I was hesitant about plowing a ton of money into my latest aspirational hobby of jewelry-making. Not to worry, BeadWorld makes it super-easy to learn new skills and stock up on the stuff you need! Their calendar of classes is frequently updated and offers a range of topics for all skill levels, including total beginners. I started with pearl knotting, because $30 for a three-hour class -- which I'd leave with a handmade pearl bracelet -- seemed like a great deal. And it was! Classes are kept small; our group had about six students. The teacher had stations set up for each student with practice materials, tools and handouts. After learning the basic technique on practice beads, they turned us loose on the pearls! We each left with a nice white pearl bracelet, and we even got to keep the tweezers and extra pearls from our kit. The class was well worth the price, and would also make a great gift idea for you and a friend to do together. You get a 10% discount off all supplies you purchase on the same day as a class, so I left with enough beads and cord to make several more bracelets as gifts for friends. So far, they have the best prices I've seen in town for cultured pearl strands, and fairly priced semiprecious stone bead strands. Now that my family and friends have learned about my hobby, they're not-so-subtly buying me supplies to make jewelry with! BeadWorld was really helpful when I came back with strings of beads, looking to make more jewelry. In addition to all kinds of clasps, fittings, and wire, they sell chain by the inch; an employee helped me find a matching chain to make a necklace, and some sterling earwires for earrings. When the store is busy and they get backed up, service can be a bit slow, but once it's your turn, you'll enjoy that same personalized attention, so it's worth the wait. For instant gratification, check out their finished pendants and other jewelry. They have inexpensive pre-wired semiprecious stone beads and pendants, which you can combine with leverback earrings for instant jewelry! (And if you want to give those to friends and say they're "handmade," I won't tell.) Whether you're interested in making your own jewelry or just having a jewelry repair emergency, BeadWorld is a great resource. I'll definitely be back for more of their classes! Now I gotta say - I buy my beads online. The price most beadstores mark their wares up to is nothing short of preposterous, and often the more specialty shanks of beads (especially non-faceted or chip gemstones) have inconsistent drilling - so some stuff will fit on a thread when others don't. If you're looking to make stuff in bulk, I'd advise you to look online, and thus I dock a star here. HOWEVER - I have to give props to Beadworld. Their employees are friendly and knowledgeable (and even the other customers you'll run into are awesome!), and their prices on some of the more marked-up items - such as wire, fittings, clasps, and thread - are absolutely reasonable. And even some of the more expensive beads seem worth the cost: quality cuts, rarer gemstones, and well-crafted shapes (so you're not like "gee, this is nifty, but if I put it on a necklace the second it bumps up against anything it's gonna break"). They also seem to have multiple sales going on at once, with various baskets placed throughout the store with neato stuff going for cheap - even half-price! So - yes, I'm a bead snob, and yes, I still buy most of my stuff online. But Beadworld remains a place I'm always happy to visit, where I can pick up silver wire or copper clasps or whatever for a good price, browse around their pretty, well-organized store, and have an excellent chat with various people there. It's a quality place run by wonderful people, and this bead snob's proverbial hat is off to them. read more

So Nice! Staff are funny and charming, helpful and knowledgeable, there's more beads than I would ever imagine needing and even a workspace with tools should I so desire to work in the shop. This is a place I felt totally comfortable taking my pre-schooler, with a step stool or two so she could look at all the beads in the tables, no cranky staff looks when she got a little excited and ran around a bit, and so many affordable, beautiful options for making something, we were set. Beautiful, bountiful, brilliantly-bright blue, black, and brown beads beckoning both bourgeois and Bohemian. Enough with the alliteration. If you want beads, Bead World has 'em. In abundance. My bead story: I had to attend the dreaded baby shower (dramatic music in the background). The shower host asked each attendee to bring a bead that would be meaningful to the giftee and her baby. We would present and explain the meanings of the selected beads at the party, and the host would string them so the recipient would have beads to hold in the delivery room. While some people may respond to this task with an, "Awww," my response was more like, "Huh?!" Luckily, the shower host mentioned Bead World was near her home. I stopped by a few days before the soiree, and was blown away by the selection. There were many open, small bins of beads, organized by type and color, with a great majority of the beads priced from a few cents to $2. In the search process, I met the store dog, a friendly guy who seemed to like everyone except the water delivery man who ventured into the store. I chose and paid for my bead, then departed, grateful that Bead World relieved my bead anxiety. read more

I'm a casual crafter with a child that occasionally makes things with beads. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. Each time I go to the store, I end up browsing a lot more than I planned. This is what I consider an excellent example of dedicated, knowledgeable customer service. If I could give more than five stars, I would. I called BeadWorld looking for a very very specific set of beads (25,000 twisted bugle beads; several thousand "mystery beads"). They didn't have what I needed, but despite this the woman that answered the phone was absolutely indispensable. She was happy to talk me through the specifics of the beads I needed, discussing their origin and what shops I should call to fill the order. She also helped me identify the "mystery bead" I needed based purely off of a description - something I had been unable to do via Google or a visit to another bead store. Even though she wasn't personally making any money off of this particular project, she still took time out of her day to give me the information and resources I needed to see the project through to the end. What began as an overwhelming undertaking (have you ever had to hand-string 25,000 beads?) now feels a lot more manageable because I've got all the resources I need now. That's what stunning customer service is really about: helping your customer out to the fullest even when they're not directly your customer - this time around! But believe me, next time I need beads, this is going to be my first stop, and it's all because the lady on the phone gave me such excellent service even when there was no direct profit in it for her. We have been avid fans of all their fun products. They have beads, trinkets and one can use a variety of items for so many different gift ideas. My wife and I are HUGE fans of Camille who is such a wonderful; dedicated; engaged and gifted professional. She welcomes every opportunity to help and guide in making ANY article pop with her wealth of knowledge and great taste. From novice to semi-professional there are many things to do. This place is really fantastic! Here's why I think so: I broke my favorite necklace awhile ago and kept thinking I would get a new chain, but never found the right one. I didn't want to spend a lot and I wanted it to be perfect. Finally, I wised up and decided to go to Beadworld. Not only did they have the perfect chain I wanted, they had the right clasp and put it all together for me to make my necklace ready to go. I wore it out that day for about $3...INSANE!
