I made a long journey by two buses to Beadworld...in the pouring rain...and then I got off my bus way too early. So I was soaked to the bone by the time I got there. I felt like an idiot, crawling in looking like a drowned rat, but the employees were kind and gave me a paper towel when I asked for one. Then they were helpful, even though they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. (I was looking for less-bright copper wire or brass...I can't seem to find wire to match my "antiqued' findings.) One woman referred me to another employee who works on different days for suggestions on how I might make the antique finish myself. I went in looking for beads for a model I was building at work. The girls behind the counter were definitely more interested in sitting there than helping me find what I needed, but they pointed me in a few directions and sent me on my way. When I checked out, I had added some wire to my lot. A different employee was incredibly thoughtful and suggested that I might find something closer to what I needed down at Ace Hardware. I was incredibly impressed that instead of trying to keep a few dollars, they suggested a product elsewhere better suited for my needs. Fast forward a few days and I needed more of the beads I had purchased, so I called them back. They were out and not ordering anymore, so I was trying to figure out a way to find the same product. The girl on the phone was so INCREDIBLY rude that I couldn't help but tell her as much, to which she responded, "Well I'm not TRYING to be." I was so put off that I emailed the owner. I never received a response. It's a shame. They have good products, and SOME really good employees, but a few bad apples... I'll buy any future beads elsewhere. read more

Went here with two girlfriends, and the staff could not have been more helpful! One of my friends is making a necklace, but had no experience. One of the staff sat down with her, showed her some options for stringing her beads and finishing her necklace. She told her to come back if she wanted more help after the beads were strung. My other girlfriend found some beads that she wanted to make into earrings, but she didn't want to make them herself. Another staff member volunteered to make them, sat down and made the earrings right there, no upcharge for the labor. How awesome is that?! I was thrilled with the selection of beads and findings and found exactly what I needed for the bracelet I plan to make. All three of us agreed it was a wonderful experience. This is one of my favorite bead stores. The staff is awesome and some of them have vintage/ancient bead knowledge. Prices are good, and they put things on sale in bulk bins quite a bit. My favorite aspect of this store is that every time I come in (about 1-2 times every 4 months) there is new and interesting beads. The layout of the store is pretty good. Seeing all the strands along the wall by color/type helps me shop. I know they hold many classes for different jewelry making techniques, but I am stubborn and haven't taken any. The people I see in class look like they are having fun though! I am about 5 years late in writing this review - been a customer for years! This store is my 2nd option for seed beads in Seattle. Prices are average and the selection is OK. I do like that they have a small wall of beads in hanks and they have just about every jewelry finding you can think of. I don't dabble too much in the cabachon or charm sections but by the looks of it they have lots to choose from. The staff are never too friendly, they always seem busy or unable to help. But all in all I always have a decent experience and I usually find what I'm looking when in a fix for a certain bead color. read more

There's an amazing selection of tools. I would have given them 5 stars for that. ... But customer service was terrible. - There were a few ladies beading in the middle of the store; they turned out to be staff but offered no assistance even though I went to the counter multiple times, trying to find someone to ask. - When I asked a pretty basic question, the lady vaguely pointed me to a corner I'd already checked out and then walked off. - Had to hunt down someone to check me out. - Packing could be a LOT better. I bought nearly $200 of supplies, and all I get is one Ziploc bag, with everything crammed in? So my metal can scratch my delicate beads? Would a second bag have been too expensive? read more

This is a well organized store, a good bit of inventory, they had a calendar of classes held there and they have parking, a premium detail in Seattle. They seemed well staffed but they were quite uninterested in helping me find what I needed. I am an inveterate online shopper but also believe in supporting local small businesses. I guess that on the day I visited all the helpful & friendly staff was off & they had some other staff there. If the Boss ever gets a load of this, oh boy! Upon entering the shop there was three other customers besides my self, there were as many faux staff. If customer service includes not one response to my initial greeting, or just standing around holding private al be they loud chat sessions. I don't expect to be fawned over, but I do expect to be treated like a CUSTOMER with wants & needs, not to mention CASH. I will return a second time to see if the top notch helpful & friendly staff have returned to save the shop, or if it is still being staffed by the other staff. Prices seemed to be so-so. read more

Up until today, my review would have been 5 star. And this does not apply to the business in general, or to every employee. Basically, I came in asking for something very specific and was told they do not have it, and that's fine. To then have an employee tell me that I could make my own, using a method that I do not want to try, and oh, it may not work for my desired application anyway, which I then reject - there is no excuse for the employee to say "I'm just trying to HELP you!" and stomp off, closing an office door behind herself. You and one more employee did try to help. When I say no, I am not going to make what I need from scratch, you can offer other help, or just let me know that you don't have what I need. Don't put this on me. I left with a bad impression, which is really too bad, because as I say, up until now, every interaction with your business has been positive. read more

I have been a regular Beadworld patron for over ten years - its where my addiction started! They have a wide selection of seed beads (by the tube or the hank), crystal, metal, stone and other natural materials, as well as glass beads. There are numerous tables of trays offering single bead selections, as well as a few spots to buy glass by the strand. They seem to get new items in rather often, so weekly visits should yield new finds! The staff is friendly and helpful, always willing to offer advice or help you with a project. read more

This is an amazing place. There was a unique variety of beads. My daughter had a project to make a Native American piece of jewelry. My daughter picked out the beads, including shark teeth. I have to say that Beadworld is hands down one of the greatest shops I have been to, ever. I feel awful for not asking for the name of the staff member who helped me because I would've loved to credit her in this review. I went to Beadworld looking for large enough ribbon clamps for some thick rope I wanted to turn into a bracelet. Sadly, these clamps were apparently just a figment of my imagination and don't really exist. Instead, the staff member who worked with me came up with an alternative solution using other materials within the store. She taught me how to use a metal punch and how to bend sheet metal! She even helped me to figure out multiple ways for keeping the rope from fraying. All in all, I really enjoyed my visit there and would recommend Beadworld to anyone. Although the prices are a little on the higher side, I feel like the expertise that all the staff provide is more than worth it. read more

These guys were great. I had to reconstruct a spiky necklace that was falling apart...I needed leather cord in an unusual diameter and a several connecting pieces and findings. They have a table there with tools so you can work there...in less than an hour the necklace was done and (now that the leather has relaxed a bit) it's PERFECT. They spend a lot of time helping you find all these little things you need and I love getting to use their tools for free. Maybe all bead stores are like this but I was pleased not to have to spend $25.00+ on pliers. Not to mention a bead broke while I was there so I could replace it immediately. How cool is that! Plus, right next door is a serious cake baker supply place...fun tip: They have fun colored sugars including GOLD...my first thought: rimming a cocktail glass. What kind of cocktail needs gold sugar? Just went to Beadworld today and loved it! The store has a relaxing ambiance and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Nobody bugged me while I wandered around exploring all the neat beads and charms, and the displays of their handmade jewelry is really inspiring (I actually wanted to buy one of the necklaces there but they said they weren't for sale). When it came time for me to buy my goodies, the woman who rang me up asked what I was making and made recommendations for a better clasp option, showed me how to make some of the hooks I'd need, and even threaded some of my charms onto loops for me. The young woman with short bluish/white hair is EXTREMELY rude and unpleasant. At one point she snapped/yelled "Can you PLEASE not go through our backstock?!" to a woman who was looking in the sales bins. After explaining that she was in fact not looking in the back stock, but the open sales bins, the blue haired woman huffed and barely even said sorry. Then when I asked if their was a restroom she was very blunt and short, and sighed and shook her head like i'm an idiot for not knowing where it was. Seemed like all she wanted to do was sit on her butt and finish whatever project she was working on. While her coworker helped other customers and was pleasant, blue haired girl just sat around doing nothing. never once offered help to anyone. Really pretty and extensive selection of beads in a smallish store. They have little trays for you to shop with when picking out individual beads, as well as all sorts of beading accessories. They carry everything & anything you need to construct/create/design, as well as a seating area for you to get creative & let your mind wander. I've been in there a few times now and I'm definitely a novice when it comes to jewelry-making. They always have creative and expert answers to my questions. Recently I worked with Farrell and also Mariella, who possess both a depth and breadth of knowledge. They helped me repair broken jewelry, wire wrap and select the correct findings for my project.
