Alex was very knowledgable and had some great stores and details of the history and local aspects in our stops along the way. Alex had great hand signals to warn us of bumps and low head places, and also ask pedestrians to make room proactively in a nice way. Out of the box I want to get the one con out of the way...bring your own helmet if you can as the supply they have is good but not great. This was a minor mosquito itch and nothing more. We were met at the door by Stephen and felt right at home with him. My wife and 14y/o daughter also agree that he was very likeable from the start. We were given a tutorial on the Segway with important do's and dont's and then made to run it around the indoor area until we met his approval. I must say that I felt pretty skittish on it and wondered if this was really going to work out. This thought process lasted all of about 2 minutes once out the door. It is really amazing how quickly you get comfortable on these things. If you are worried at all, please do yourself a favor and take the chance. We spent nearly two hours running from one attraction to another while being given some nice tidbits of information about the area. From the pier, Space Needle, and Pike Place Market, this was a fully packed trip. I want to end being very clear. If you are going to spend some money on a tour in Seattle I would recommend putting this at the top of your list. You will have a blast and I'm guessing you'll be looking at how much a Segway costs because it is so much stinking fun. read more

After arriving in Seattle and doing a teeny bit of wandering around, I realized that choosing to do a segway tour instead of say, a bike tour, was a great idea. Seattle is hilly! But this tour is a little light on the information. It's always fun getting to zoom around on a segway and the route you take is very scenic, but we stopped by what looked to be a cool park and didn't even really pause for pictures or anything. There's only one hill you really deal with and you go up and down it. Going up was fine. Down, I was not comfortable with at all and basically crawled. Plus it's Seattle, it's often rainy, and it rained pretty hard while we were zooming down some slick cobblestone streets. read more

There were 4 of us. We were given instructions and test drove around cones in the room. That's nice. That we could get as comfortable getting the feel for the Segway. They also provide helmets and wipes to clean anything. Rose thorough the piers, sculpture park, outside of seattle center, bell town, pikes market and finishing pioneer square. I found this more fun just riding the Segway. You can ask guide anything and was pretty knowledgeable. But mostly felt fun riding Segway to see downtown seattle. Don't even think about NOT doing this tour. We were a little skittish about learning how to ride a Segway, but seriously, it took like five minutes and we felt pretty comfortable. I figured it was going to be huge fun and it definitely was. Absolutely loved it! Erich was our guide and he rocked! Totally laid back and patient and agreeable to stop for pics whenever we wanted. We probably put like 7-8 miles on our Segways for sure. He also knew plenty about the different places we checked out. Our tour group was just my husband and I, so we were completely spoiled. Erich took us to a few places he said he doesn't usually take groups, so we felt really special. I seriously want a Segway now as it was addicting and fun! It's hilarious just zooming right by so many pedestrians. On top of that, we got lots of stares and ooohs and ahhhs from people that were way jealous as they watched us cruise on by. We are off to Portland and are already going to book a Segway tour there as well. Killer fun in every single way! I see us doing a Segway tour in every city we visit that has one. Took Groupons here---no problem whatsoever. Be advised, the office/starting point of tour is in a sketchy underpass area on the same block as a homeless mission so there are definitely some undesirables hanging out nearby. This Segway ride was great fun! A star knocked off for the less than interesting tour aspect of the ride. As a resident of Seattle for 7 years I knew far more than the tour guide and was able to point out many things they weren't aware or, that are fairly basic. Looking for a good factual tour? Try out the Argosy Cruise. That being said, riding Segways was great fun! They were easy to learn, safe to operate and the tour guide was knowledgeable in instructing how to use them. Ryan our tour guide was laid back and fun. We traveled all throughout the city visiting the usual tourist spots. He took care to make sure we were comfortable before going up hills or down hills. The storefront is an office building, not as clearly marked as i would like. We were able to practice using segways after instructions on the side of the building. After about 7 passes up and down the street you truly feel confident with the segway. The price of $65.00 was reasonable, $10.00 cheeper than S.F. Had such an amazing time on this tour! We had Stephen as our guide, couldn't of asked for better, so informative and friendly, would recommend him as a tour guide to anyone wanting to do this. We ended up doing a early tour at 9am and lucky for us our group was very small so we had a really quick training. Neither of us had been on a Segway before and the short training sesh was really all we needed. Segway's are very simple to ride! Then the tour around Seattle was great and very interesting. Would suggest doing it in the morning as they show you quite a bit then you can see what you like and go back for a more in depth look, after the tour. Then, we were able to ride freely in the bike lane. Once we were all accustomed to the segways, our guide took us on a tour of Seattle. Awesome and fun tour of the Seattle area. We had Brandon as our guide and we had a blast. Want to see the sites in a fun way without all the walking? Come do this tour. Definitely recommend it. We did a lot of waking the day before just to see a few sites, in the 1.5-2 hour tour with the Segways, we hit more sites than I thought we would. Riding the Segways are a breeze, and Brandon's tutorial, and do's and don'ts will help you out. Don't think of this tour as a historical docent tour, but more of a see the sites tour in a fun way. If you really want all the historical events, take a few pictures and look it up on google. They can give you all the history, but it will take more time away from seeing things. Again, one of the best tours I have done and would do it again when I come back. Oh, and by the way, don't forget to tip your guide, they more than deserve it. read more

This is a MUST DO activity in Seattle. Whether you're visiting or live here, this gives you an over-view of the beautiful waterfront. The icing on the cake though.....you get to do it on a Segway. This was our first experience on a Segway and Brandon did a wonderful job of putting each of us through the tutorial of do's and don'ts. We made our way from the south end of the city, up the waterfront to the space needle and back down by Pike Place Market. All along the ride Brandon gave us interesting bits of information about the city we otherwise would not have picked up....info about the Aquarium, Edgewater Hotel, Space Needle, SAM, architect Frank Gehry and much more. If you've never done a Segway tour then you'll like this tour because everybody likes their first Segway experience. As for the tour though it's pretty lame. You'll ride around a few streets, see the Space Needle, then ride back to the starting point. For $90 a person it's just not worth it because you see so little. Our guide was friendly and a nice guy but he told us nothing about the local area, history, or anything at all until we got to the Space Needle and Experience Music Project Museum. We knew we wanted to do a Segway tour while enjoying Seattle. We booked it online where we found all the information we needed (age limits, costs, times, etc.) and were thrilled that the online booking process was simple and efficient. The office itself is easily missed if focused on the homeless and others hanging out on this stretch of road but pay attention to the directions given with your booking confirmation and there will be no issue. We had a 9:00am tour and found Ryan as our guide (I think that was his name...I'm not confident). Anyway, he was great. He was patient and thorough. We'd ridden Segways before but not up and down any steep hills. No big deal. Ryan explained what to do and sure enough, we were pros in no time. The tour itself was great with some Seattle facts and trivia and a nice number of photo opportunities along the way. We signed up for the two hour tour which felt like the perfect amount of time. He did say that he takes people on a slightly different route every time depending on the group (and since I was with 3 teenagers + 3 other adults I was very pleased that we all were able to enjoy this tour). We went all over including the waterfront, past the Olympic Sculpture Garden, through Seattle Center and Pike Place Market. One caution- your feet do get tired, but you get "foot" breaks. I loved the segway, which is much easier to ride than I expected and such an enjoyable & fast way to see so many sights up close. I am 50+ and can no longer ski,so I had a little trepidation, but found the segway very easy to learn, super easy to control, and a nice smooth ride. I can't wait to do this again! BEWARE: This location is difficult to find, the office is nearly impossible to see from a car, and the only parking lot is 2 blocks north at Columbia & Alaskan Way. Seattle by Segway is an awesome way to spend the day and see the Seattle waterfront and the Space Needle! Austin was our tour guide and he was awesome! It was more the experience of riding a Segway for me, but Austin was very knowledgeable about Seattle history and etc. My friend and I did 90 min tour and we were basically just shown around the waterfront and pike place market. Too short in my opinion and not a lot of destinations for 90 mins. But it was still worth it for the groupon price. Will definitely do the longer one to the space needle next time because it was so much fun riding the Segway! It was scary at first when practicing in their little office, but you get more leeway outside where it's more spacious so it's less scary and you start to get the hang of it. Also, their office is in a hidden location and not on google maps. They tell you this beforehand but dont necessarily give you directions, which made it hard for us to find. read more

If you are reading this review, you will probably ride a segway soon. Segways are awesome. Looking up seattle downtown on a segway is probably one of the better experiences. The other tour that might top this is probably the san francisco tour. Stephen was our tour guidefor the drake downtown tour - friendly and helpful chap. The store front where the tour starts is under a viaduct and in an ugly part of town.that's the only bad part. Reserve a tour - walking on is not a good idea. You will find the front door locked between tours. The tour sizes are limited to the number of segways available. You do not need any prior experience on a segway to be on the tour. Pick a dry day. Cold, rain and slick streets are not a good mix with a segway tour. read more

Okay -- I feel this needs two different reviews. One for the experience of riding a Segway. That was AMAZING! Super fun. Our tour guide was very helpful, clearly explained the ins and outs and had us all practice before we began the tour. The other review would be for the "tour" itself. I've done all sorts of tours in Seattle. The Underground Tour, a Duck Boat tour... and on each of those I learned a TON of interesting information about the city and its history. But this Segway "tour" was basically just a follow-the-leader trip down the waterfront and back. We didn't go near the Space Needle, we didn't see Pike Place Market, we rode past many "photo op/historic" spots I've learned about from other tours, and there was no mention of them. I still cannot get over how much fun it was to ride the Segway. I truly had a blast! It really is unlike anything else you've tried, I promise. And well worth it, especially with a Groupon. But here is my feedback for the Tour Company. (You can stop reading here if all you wanted was my thoughts on the experience itself.) I know "(insert city name) by Segway" is a growing company which began in Florida and now has locations around the country. So it's a chain, and maybe that's part of the problem. There should have been loads more city-specific information if this is being billed as a "tour." Another reviewer called the information "light." I would call it non-existent. Get me into the gritty details! The places, moments and events that shaped this city! Secondly, I agree with all the other reviewers that this place is nearly impossible to find. Thankfully there is one sentence on the confirmation e-mail you receive after booking that says, "Our location is one block from Yesler Way, between Washington & Main Streets." I trusted that information, even though it led me down a sidewalk with three homeless people smoking just outside the door. And the door itself was not well marked, nor visible from a car. Even walking I almost passed it. They need a large bright sign outside the door itself, or you may find yourself like me, questioning the safety of continuing down that particular sidewalk. Second, our guide warned us a lot about the awful things people might say to us, or that they might not give us room to pass. It was a bit disheartening, and we didn't experience any of that. But it would definitely help to feel more of a "group" if the Segways themselves were marked with big and bright "Seattle by Segway" labels, instead of just incognito black units, one of which had exposed wires wrapped around the handle and was given to a younger rider. Spruce those babies up! In all, I LOVED motoring around the city on a Segway. So much fun. But more thought needs to go into the content of the tour. read more

We live in Seattle, but I surprised my husband with a Segway tour for his birthday. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a WONDERFUL experience. We were lucky enough to have Branden as our tour guide and ended up on the tour all by ourselves which was awesome. Branden is really, really good. He's excellent at teaching you how to use the Segway and how to look out for common mistakes that people make while learning. He really watches out for your safety while on the tour and has great information to offer about the city. The segway idea is a great way to tour a place because you can cover much more ground then you would while walking but you're not seeing the city out of a vehicle window. Plus, it's a ton of fun. I was a little worried about getting the hang of it but it was easy to learn and I was zooming by the end. Highly recommended!!! read more
