Cheese Quesadilla with Fries Kid's
Stephanie A.

This is our second year here for Veteran's day. Last year I came and I was preggies and I loved how they took care of me and my family. My husband and family spent our day in San Pedro celebrating our Veteran's Day so we decided to head back. The experience was just as good. I enjoyed the ahi tuna but I would recommend the calamari more. I loved the scallop entree and my son loved his quesadilla and fries. My husband was happy with his steak . The service was welcoming and so friendly . I believe our server was Barbara. I didn't get her name but that's what is on the cashier name Let's hope I got it right. Either way we had an amazing evening .

This place epitomizes the current state of dining out. High prices, small portions, poor quality of food and non-attentive service. Our breakfast was tasteless and resembled something you would receive at a hospital cafeteria. In addition, the tables are too small for the booths. You have to sit on the edge of the seat to be close enough to reach the plate. Never again.

We found this cozy little restaurant while visiting San Pedro last Friday. We wanted fish and this place ended up being perfect. We spent a while here, just enjoying the ambiance. We sat outdoors, and even though it was a hot day, a little breeze was coming up through South Shores. The bread that came with our pasta dishes was so good. The shrimp scampi I highly recommend the shrimp scampi, but beware it is enough for two people to share. The portions are very generous here from the 8 ounce wine pour to our appetizer of fried calamari - all was so generous and tasty. Our waitress Emily was very patient and kind courteous and professional.

This restaurant is located in the corner of a Vons strip mall. Not too crowded for brunch during the week. There's seating outdoors on the sidewalk. I sat indoors, in a booth. The place is not that large inside, and you do forget you're in a strip mall. Not much ambiance though. I ordered the fresh fruit waffle and coffee. The waffle came with fresh bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. The waffle was a little chewy. No non dairy creamer available for coffee. Service was efficient.

Service was a wee bit slow, I believe if there is children at the table they should be served first. Our server served our drinks then my kids something with the food served our plates then the kids last. As far as the food goes the steak was super chewy and tough not even enjoyable. French toast was alright super sweet with sweet cream drizzle powered sugar just a little too much for breakfast. Maybe if you're just planning to get a basic eggs, bacon and potatoes go here.

Came here with my family. We were a group of 12 with my aunts and cousins... The food was good overall. Everyone seemed happy with what they ordered. The appetizers were great. We had raw oysters, Rockefeller oysters and calamari. Some of the main course items were slightly salty. Oddly, the kitchen felt the need to draw Seaside on each plate. We did not really like the desserts. Desserts didn't really taste all that good. Our server was excellent. Overall we had a good time.

Love this place! Great service, food, atmosphere, everything. I had the french onion soup and french dip sandwich, it was really good. The soup had lots of cheese on it and the sandwich was perfect and very filling. I definitely plan on coming back!

Very good cheese burger.

My sisters and I went there as I was craving a burger. My sisters recommended this place. We all ordered the burger during happy hour and got 40% off. The burgers were big, cheesy and juicy. The accompanying fries were very good. I would definitely go back.

The Seared Scallop dish was delicious, and as an appetizer I had the French Onion Soup!!! The service was amazing and the chefs prepared everything quickly!! Great spot to have our mini family reunion!

Seafood Linguini- a great way to have a little bit of everything yummy! The shrimp were ginormous!

A quaint romantic spot with family vibes. Our server Melanie was friendly and knowledgeable she quickly explained the wine list and helped us identify a white wine we liked, an obvious pro! Delicious fresh bread when we sat down, we had the grilled artichoke, seafood linguini and cioppino. Food was outstanding and the linguini was a large enough portion that I had plenty of leftovers! First time there and we will be back to try the lunch menu! Thanks to the staff for making us feel very welcome.

COWABuNGA! We definitely found the hidden treasure in this seaside community! Seaside Bistro is truly a beach city eatery with a touch of class! When you first enter, there is an enclosed outside sitting area just in case your furbabies are joining you. The atmosphere is a casual beachy boutique vibe. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by a team member. Brian was the one that greeted us right away. A peek to the right shows a quaint lil bar with a variety of wines and adult sodas. The restaurant is very intimate and on the smaller side. The owners did a great job with placement, because it did not feel crowded at all! Patrons were constantly coming in and out. Our service professional was Carolina. She has such a great personality! She was very professional until I opened my mouth... After that, she matched my dorky vibe! We picked her brain for items to order. We didn't want to order items that we cook at home! We ordered the following; Medium rare steak sandwich on a roll smothered with mushrooms and garlic butter with a salad. This was 5 stars! Completely mouthwatering! The steak was well marinated and tender. It paired perfectly with the sauteed mushrooms in the soft warm roll. Chicken fried steak with crunchy hash browns, scrambled eggs with cheese and a well toasted English muffin. 5 stars again!!! The chicken fried steak was well seasoned and solid. It definitely was made with more meat than fillers (unlike other restaurants). The gravy tasted like actual country gravy and not salt. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and fully cooked. The eggs were made with beaters, so they were okay tasting but cooked right! The English muffins were buttered and grilled. So good! The mango mimosa was given a 4 by hubby. He said it needed more mango and needed to be chilled a bit more. The coffee? Definitely fresh and tasted like smooth coffee. Not one hint of bitterness and it wasn't watered down. As always, the icing on the cake is the service level and hilarious interaction with Carolina! Definitely a must for us to come back!

Totally yummy happy Sunday

Quite disappointed! The bartender got my drink order wrong and it took 10 minutes to get another bartender to correct the error. It took another 20 minutes to get the correct Taco order, so 40 minutes wait to get 3 tacos which were delivered cold! Then I bit onto a piece of Bone in a Taco and it feels like I cracked a tooth and am still in pain. I brought these problems up to the owner whom was not sympathetic at all. I showed him the chunk of bone and he told me that it couldn't have been in the taco unless the cook cut off the end of the bone. I told the owner that this would likely be my last time patronizing the restaurant, he then offered to buy me a drink if I return.

So I am a big food giver, it is how I show appreciation because when I want to thank someone, I want their belly to feel it. And this place has this really good Sunday Sauce plate, that I just know as their short rib plate. Like one time, I took it to a former colleague that I kinda wanted to make happy, cause of how they made me feel, and he warmed it up in the microwave. And it was not like microwaving fish, it was quite the opposite. Instead of pungent odor, the dish infused the small kitchenette with a wafting aroma, that almost felt like a morning after hug. It made everyone who wifed it, wonder who and what introduced good eats to another wise basic break-room. More broadly, I have never eaten anything at J Trani's that I have felt bad about buying. At least not that I can recall readily, which means that they have not seared a bad experience in my mind, which, is great flowers given to offer them considering that I have been coming to this place, time and again, for decades. Now the question becomes how they surprised me, when I know them to be a good spot consistently? So I called because I wanted to get a pizza for a guy I wanted to thank. And, they read me their pizza list and my bells, that signal positive experiences, went off. I heard sweet corn. And sweet corn is an ingredient I love by name. So I got the bacon and corn pizza, and also, I tried to explain the dish I wanted, remember I do not know it by Sunday Sauce. The person answering the phone, I forgot her name, explained that the Sunday sauce was their short rib plate. But instead of ordering there, I was like I'll just go so I can peruse the menu, Seconds later she called me back. I thought she was going to try to explain more to me, but I had made my mind up I wanted to see the menu. I was a smidge irked, I will not lie, I just did not want to continue the conversation after I had made my mind. So I picked up and she explained that she could text me the menu. And she did just that, the picture shows is the proof. Wow--- this was excellent service, not because they went the extra mile--- which they did- but because they centered my expectations, without me knowing it I had that expectation. They could have said, review the menu online, which I was not going to do. I was going to go and wait, which I could do, but it has its elements of a drag quotient. Instead, with the menu, in hand (well sort-of) was able to make the right choices for me. And She specifically told me that the order was going to take 25 minutes. This was the cherry tomato on top of the Burrata salad---- my whole experience was handled by the restaurant when I was not there. I got there and I had to wait a few minutes for my order to be packaged. As I waited, I heard a traditional mom and pop, and kid family unit discuss the choices the kid had made. The dad, I heard, say something like, I would have never, spoken to my dad like this when I was young, I do not want to here anymore from you. I heard this interaction, and kind of was glad because it gave me something to chew on (my thoughts). I wondered what the kid did and how I would handle the discipline? I also thought that some people still practice the stale or maybe fresh axiom of: Children should be seen not heard? The pizza was fantastic. I had a slice the next day for breakfast, and the bacon was crunch, the taste of corn was heavily present, and in short, it was a delicacy on my commute to work.

Would I say they have the best prime rib around? No. But it is pretty damn satisfying. When here, I always order the Franciscan cut Prime Rib cooked to medium (it's 3/4 pounds), house salad with ranch dressing, and steak fries. They throw in a loaf of sourdough bread with whipped butter. The prime rib is very tender and has plenty of fat. We all know fat equals flavor. The only thing I would change about it, and I keep forgetting to ask the server each time I'm here, is to have it served without the au jus already in the plate. Don't get me wrong. The au jus is fantastic, but when the prime rib is served in a pool of it, the meat becomes soggy. Served separately, I think the prime rib would be even better. In addition to the prime rib, the salad and steak fries are incredibly delicious. The salad is nothing fancy, but very tasty due to the ranch dressing it comes with. Wish I knew the recipe of the dressing. The steak fries pair perfectly with the prime rib. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only thing I would say is pretty average is the sourdough bread. Although it comes out warm, I don't get the sense that they're freshly baked. The service here is phenomenal. The servers are attentive, polite, and efficient. Can't ask for anything more from them. If you're looking for a trendy spot with contemporary decor and pretentious vibes, this place is not for you. This is an old school steakhouse with red upholstered booths and soft music playing in the background. When I first started coming here, the smallest cut was only $25, which felt like an incredible deal. Prices have gone up over the years, and it's now $37 for the smallest cut, but even with the increase, it's a place I continue to return to because the quality and experience have remained consistently good. I always order the prime rib medium rare with the soup and French fries. The prime rib is consistently delicious, flavorful, and tender, with a rich beefy flavor that really hits the spot. It's cooked just the way I like it, and every visit reminds me why I've been coming back for so many years. The portions are generous, and the meal is satisfying from start to finish. One of the things I appreciate most about this restaurant is its classic atmosphere. The interior feels like a step back in time, with an old-school charm that is becoming harder to find these days. It has the feel of a traditional steakhouse from the 1960s, and the nostalgic vibe adds a lot to the overall dining experience. It's the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy a good meal, and appreciate a piece of local history. There is a parking lot available, which is definitely a plus, although it can be surprisingly easy to miss if you're visiting for the first time. Just keep an eye out as you're approaching the restaurant. While I miss the days when the prime rib was only $25, I understand that prices have gone up everywhere. The fact that I've continued coming here for six years says a lot about how much I enjoy the food and atmosphere. If you've never been and you're a fan of prime rib, this is a spot that's well worth checking out at least once. Chances are you'll find yourself planning a return
