Walking past this place and you would never know the magic that lies behind this Mediterranean gem. When we stepped in we were warmly greeted by Mani and sat in what felt like a Greek garden. The decor is lovely and welcoming. We ordered the sampler because we couldn't decide on the wide variety of appetizers that they offered. We went with the chin chin shrimp, the hummus sampler, the roasted brussel sprouts and the domas. All were exceptional but the domas were the best I've ever had full of flavor and a must try if you're at this place. We then went with one of the specials which tonight was branzino with a lovely lemon herb sauce and the Hercules plate which is a sample of gyro shish meat. The special was bright, light and lovely just like our server. The Hercules was generous and a great way to get a taste of what this restaurant can do. I haven't been here in a while but I do need to come back! Mediterranean food is one of my favorites and there aren't very many around town. I have been here a handful of times and each time I have loved the fiord and the service is usually pretty good. First of all, Manny, she is hands down the sweetest server ever. I always enjoy being in her section because she just gets it. Super kind, attentive, and makes you feel taken care of every single time. You can tell she actually cares, not just going through the motions. And the FOOD... specifically the chicken kebab plate. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best I've ever had. The chicken is so tender and you can genuinely taste the difference, it tastes clean, fresh, like real organic chicken, not that artificial flavor you get at other places. I always get it with the green sauce and pita, and it's honestly fire every time. Ambiance is perfect. I love the small outdoor tables. If you go, ask for Manny and get the chicken kebab. Stopped in for lunch today. The Baba Ganush was a terrific appetizer choice and quite plentiful. Mani was our gracious server. We ordered entrees with my wife ordering the ground beef kabob plate and I had the gyro plate. The presentation of each dish was very nice. The ground beef kabob was quite different that the beef koobideh my wife was used to as this is more of a Mediterranean recipe than middle eastern. The gyro meat was not prepared the way I am used to as the texture seemed a bit overdone. As a chef back in the day I am a foodie with a keen eye for detail. The food is really good! Amazing Mediterranean cuisine! We loved everything, from the appetizer to the main menu. Shish kabob melts in your mouth, chicken kabob is really tender and juicy, luleh is a favorite as well. The service is awesome! She's very friendly and attentive and made us feel comfortable. Great customer service, it's beyond we expected! We made a blind decision at first to dine in but WOW it's the BEST! Dine in by the beach in San Pedro, ambience is really good and very welcoming. Meh.....unfortunately my experience of Sebastian's is hit or miss. Today i spent $42 on a chicken kebab plate ($22), hummus ($12), and a side of vegetables ($5). I called in the order and should have asked more questions because the hummus was not a side but appeared to be an appetizer. The veggies were only a few grilled vegetables when he said it was a "2 skewers" of vegetables. The plain hummus was seriously watered down (check the pic). The side of veggies did not appear to be 2 skewers. And the $22 plate of chicken skewers was not tasty or worth the value. I gave 3 stars because I have had good experiences here before. read more

Found this place via yelp and got there around 440 on a weekday and the place was pretty empty. We ordered the Koobideh & shish kabob combo and not only both meats were super delicious but everything exceeded expectations. From the shallot in the yoghurt and the rice we figured the owner(s) should be Iranian like us. I think this place im underrated and we would def go back. A small suggestion would be possibly asking guests how they would like the kabab cooked. I am a rare meat eater but since the shish kabab is very well marinated (i think it has a yogurt base or sth similar) a little more time on the grill would've done magic. Saying this because my friend who accompanied me doesn't like med/rare meat and she was telling me, wish i told the server for extra cooked. Overall great experience. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, TERRIBLE FOOD! I went with a friend to check this place out because I heard they have new owners. Although they have gotten a few 5 stars on yelp, my experience was very different and, frankly, hard to rate it any stars. I ordered the lamb shank. The waitress said it came with rice and vegetables. I asked what the veg was and she said bell peppers, zucchini and onions. I asked if I could have it without the bell peppers and she said no, it was already mixed together. She then offered me a salad, which I agreed to and then I asked if I could have the salad on a separate plate and before the entrée. She said, no the kitchen will not allow that. It comes all on one plate all together. My food arrived in an interesting way, first I got a plate with just rice. Then she put down the salad--on a separate plate! (Which she said the kitchen would not do.) The salad was over dressed in a terrible dressing and was inedible. She comes back with a cast iron pan on a trivet-that she almost dropped on the table--with the lamb shank in it. It was served in a basic tomato sauce that tasted canned. No seasoning on the lamb or the sauce. And, even though it arrived in a hot cast iron pan, the meat and sauce were not hot. I asked for a box for the rice and she brought me a small container. I put the rice in it and could not seal it properly. I asked for another type of container and she said that is all they have. Then she came back with another larger one, but we made the small one work. My friend ordered the Baba ghanoush and there was no pita bread with it. We asked for it and the waitress rudely said, 'do you want it?' We said yes. The baba ghanoush looked like tuna and had too much lemon and did not taste or look like the original dish should. My friend paid cash for her bill and when the waitress gave her the change, she rudely dropped it on the table, mostly in pennies. The change was not correct and my friend asked for her correct change, and the waitress said that is all we have in the register. She then came back with the correct change, again dropped it on the table and was almost all in pennies. At that point, my friend asked to speak to the manager, and the waitress said, "I am the manager and owner". As the manager and owner, she was VERY rude and unaccommodating to our requests. Overall, a very disappointing and bizarre experience. read more

Excellent food in San Pedro - both appetizers and entrées are worth trying. Stopped by this evening with family, and we each ordered a dish to share. All the food was good, but the following three stood out. (1) Chicken Wings ($14) - flavorful and juicy, marinated to perfection and served with "just right" spicy sauce and thick creamy ranch dressing. Polished off in less than 3 minutes. (2) Sebastian's Hummus ($12) - three types served with warm toasted pita wedges. Everyone found a flavor they liked - garbanzo, roasted bell pepper, or red beet. (3) Lemon Chicken Skillet ($19) - cooked to perfection with a tangy sauce to die for! We also ordered Moroccan chicken and Lule sandwiches ($15 each), which were good, but didn't crack the top three. As a long time customer of over 5 years, I am sad to report that something had changed here, and not for the better. First off- the Moroccan Chicken Sandwich used to be one of my favorite sandwiches in the world. It had the juiciest, most succulent, tender chicken with a generous amount of aoli and veggies. The sandwich I received today, -while did have a generous amount of chicken- was dry and chewie. The flavor was ok but not like it used to be. Veggies were fine, but not like I ad come to expect. Second- my GF ordered a side of Greek salad with her filet kebob (the Kebob was actually really good), but the "Greek salad" was 90% kale and just a few bits of tomato and cucumber. This was NEVER the case before from Sebastian's, we've ordered their Greek salads many times over the years and they were proper and excellent. Btw who even puts kale in a Greek salad? Their menu says nothing about kale? Wtf? Lastly- as a previous reviewer noted- their hummus appetizer has also gone downhill. Before it was amazing, rich and delicious. Now it's just a small step up from store-bought hummus. A bit bland and watered down tasting. I usually would never spend this much time on a review, but here in SP, in spite of their being many restaurants to choose from, there's very few real gems. It to mention- a kebob plate, a gyro sandwich and an appetizer to go (no drinks) for $60 ain't exactly cheap, even in this financial hellscape we now live in. Consistency is so important for small restaurants like these, or I suppose any restaurant. It's fine if they want to change things up a bit, but at lease update the menu read more

I can't believe how delicious this place is! It was on the pricier side but worth every penny since I've not tried Mediterranean as good as this before. We basically tried a sample of their kebabs (not on the menu but we asked). Their lule and lamb chops are the best and I love that they came out with a hummus appetizer too. Incredible food! Hidden at the south edge of Los Angeles this wonderful jewel does a tremendous job with lamb and barramundi, although they may not always have barramundi available. Disappointing Service and Management Attitude - Avoid Warning: Yelp rating is high because it goes back 8 years and reflects the fabulous prior management & ownership not the fairly recently ownership change. I cannot recommend this establishment due to the incredibly unprofessional service provided by the owner/manager, who was our waitress. The service was curt, inattentive, and remarkably combative. * Service & Kitchen Control: Our request for a simple modification to bring the salad before the entree was refused, with the server claiming the kitchen would not allow it, citing that everything is served at once. * Billing/Change Dispute: The restaurant short-changed us. When asked to correct it, the owner/manager dropped a pile of pennies on the table, which still did not match the correct change. When notified of this, she demanded we make our own change, later returning to drop more pennies on the table.Management: When asked to speak to a manager, she rudely stated, "I am the manager & owner." Went in today to catch up with an old friend from the area. It has been years that I've visited San Pedro. I was craving soup & fresh bread. My friend said Sebastian's always has great soup and fresh pita bread. We ordered an appetizer of Brussel Sprouts, and it was absolutely delicious! The roasted pine nuts complement the flavors of the wine, cranberry, and it helps tone down the flavor of the sprouts. I ordered the clam chowder, and I've had this soup in various places. From freshly prepared, packaged, and up North in San Francisco in Fisherman's Wharf. So far this small restaurant on West 6th street has outshined my previous experiences of clam chowder. I could taste a hint of citrus married amongst the vegetables, maybe a hint of parsley or cilantro. It was clam chowder with a Persian-mediterranean spin on it. Of course it has potatoes, clam, finally diced carrots, & celery. Never thought of pita bread as a side, I always think of sourdough and crackers, yet this bread was a great pairing. Honestly this beats a trip up North for clam chowder, & the best part is you can walk outside without the oversized sea gulls flying over you; San Francisco birds are professional food bandits and it's not worth the possibility of getting dropped on. This area is safer, and not as crowded. In addition, we ordered a virgin mojito, they also serve you a pitcher of water with fresh mint. My friend ordered lemon chicken with vegetables, and of course I tried it. Everything was amazing. Since I chose to eat light I ordered a plate of lamb, vegetables to go. There aren't many Mediterranean eateries in/around San Pedro but glad to have stumbled by Sebastian's. Location is sweet and small, but the dishes are so flavorful and you can tell the ingredients are great quality. The setting is also intimate and the service is great. Only downside is the portion size of the entrees! Wish they were a bit bigger. My husband and I ordered the potatoes with the chicken and lule kabob plates. I grew up in Glendale (a kabob haven) and my husband is Persian, and we both have to say Sebastian's kabobs did not disappoint! Meats were juicy and so tender. However the service made me regret ccoming here, because the waitress' attitude from the beginning was dismissive. I tried various dishes at over a dozen Mediterranean restaurants in a 6-month period. This place is one of my top 3 favorites. The beef kabob and the lamb chops are excellent. The flavor is extremely delicious and the flavor float on your tongue even after you leave the restaurant. The Greek salad always taste so fresh! I have brought at least two friends to this place, and they agreed the lambchops are great. The service is excellent, the staff is friendly, and they check in on you very often throughout your dining experience. The ambiance is great. So cute and quaint.
