I can't believe I didn't give this place a 5 star review in my first post. The experience probably had mostly to do with the service we received then because ever since our new servers gave us their recommendations, we have been ordering the same things and been coming more regularly! Here's what I recommend you get: For appetizers, try the beef summer roll. I was a little skeptical at first about how beef and peanut sauce would taste like together but our server swore by it and I was sold. You will not be disappointed. For banh mi, I used to order the heritage pork banh mi because it was their signature recipe but thanks again to our server, we went with her "absolute favorite" the grilled beef banh mi. The bread does not disappoint, even after reheating in the oven at home. For my entree, I order the special bun vermicelli noodle (this doesn't have broth) or the SEAK pho. You'll never go wrong with their signature pho. The special bun vermicelli noodle has a variety of proteins and sauce on the side for added flavor, or not. I find the lemongrass pork chop here pretty ordinary and I go somewhere else if I'm craving for this dish specifically. read more

I was really excited for some Thai food and was hoping to be blown away by this restaurant. I love the view and loved sitting outside and looking at the New York City skyline. Being so close to the water was a great feeling. But, I do have to say that, the flavor of the food was a little boring. I've gone to other local Thai shops that have much more authentic flavor. Definitely pass on the Tom Ka soup, as it is simply a bowl of coconut milk with mushrooms put on inside... I can't really say I recall any dish being outstanding. But we definitely had a nice time. I really wanted Vietnamese food as I haven't had pho in so long. Once I miss something, I start to crave it and have to get it eventually. However, there was something off about the Seak Pho. It was a big portion so I was satisfied with the size of it, but not with the taste of the broth or the noodles. The service was great which is why they're getting 3 stars, plus they are opened late. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Depending where you sit you can get a great view of the skyscrapers. The only thing that I liked eating was the Banh Mi Frites. It wasn't even an appetizer that I wanted to order too. The Seak Special dish wasn't that special. If it is one of their originals and since it is named after the restaurant it must say a lot. Since traveling to Vietnam, I have been in search of a restaurant that serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine with flavors that are similar to what I enjoyed during my trip. After trying many other options in northern New Jersey, SEAK is the best! Their Bun Special Noodle Bowl is very similar to the bun cha with noodles I ate in Hanoi. The Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi is flavorful and the bread is a perfect texture. The Vegan Pho has the best crispy tofu that I've ever had! In addition to Vietnamese cuisine, their Thai and Singaporean dishes are also delicious. I recommend the Massamum Curry and Singapore Noodles. This place has a view of the nyc skyline and outdoor seating with umbrella which makes it comfortable to sit outside to enjoy the view. The service was great and our waiter was attentive. For entrees we ordered the following: -drunken noodles with chicken: which was mediocre and not as spicy. -red curry with chicken: was good and standard as other spots. Not so spicy but didn't mind as it was flavorful. -thai ice tea: not bad but had better -fried cheesecake: is a must get it was delicious taste almost like warm cinnamon creamy warm fried crisp with ice cream. Okay so here's the thing, when my cousin and I came here, we were so excited about eating here. The ambiance looked so nice. Much to our surprise, our excitement was completely lost after eating this food. We immediately ordered as soon as we sat down. The first thing to come out was the bahn mi loaded fries. They were DELICIOUS. The spring rolls were genuinely okay, not anything special. Then the food came out. I ordered pad see ew and my cousin ordered a basil dish. We took one bite of the meat and tasted something AWFUL. There was a weird and funky sharp taste coming from the chicken that tasted as if they were serving us expired food. We called our waiter back and tried to be as nice as possible while asking if we could change the entrees. We thought surely it must've been that specific plate. WRONG. We got two new completely different entrees and they had the same rancid taste as the last plates. We called our waiter and we're honest with him because we were genuinely worried about them serving us expired food. He called upon the manager who then said that our palate must not be familiar with the way that Thai food tastes. I've been eating Thai food for YEARS in different cities as well as countries and not once did it taste like that. He ended up taking the meals off of our bill. I definitely enjoy their food! My only issue was the grilled garlic shrimp summer rolls had overcooked garlic so it tasted bitter. I assume this is a fluke because I've had these before for take-out and they garlic was cooked well. This is a great restaurant with a nice location (it's in the mini-mall plaza with Trader Joe's). There was a stronger star anise flavor too. * (4/5) Bun Bo Hue - The broth is very tasty and had plenty of meats in it. This place is losing its flavor and charms. The staff is great and I see people visiting this place for its view of the Hudson and Manhattan upper west. BUT ... The food is no longer what it used to be. Pad see ew is too dry. Banh Xeo is nothing close to its name. Pho is ok, but there are other great pho places in Fort Lee and Palisaees Park. Papaya salad is good but too expensive for that tiny portion. Banh Mi frites [waffle fries] are salty enough but not crispy enough at all. This is our go to restaurant when we stop by mitsuwa, whether it's for brunch or for dinner. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, it's very calm out there. The view is nice and the food is really good. TLDR: poor, inconsistent, unprofessional, possibly unhygienic service. Food quality diminished while prices increased. Ambience is still nice since they have outdoor dining right by the water. I have always been rather fond of Seak's food. Their service, on the other hand, was always hit or miss, and today was a definite miss. One of the waitstaff spilled my Tom Yum noodle soup on my legs down to my feet. He was very apologetic, and I was not upset at him. Thank goodness I was wearing black shorts. Mistakes happen, I appreciate his apologies, and I told him so.  However, I was disappointed that our primary waiter did not stop by once to ask how our meal was. It's like he was afraid to stop by to ask how it was going after that incident. Unprofessional. I heard him stopping by to ask another table how they were doing multiple times. I couldn't help but wonder is it because we are Asian and the other table had non-Asian patrons? When he dropped our check off, he didn't even say thank you,  just a "Here is your check." I also wonder about their hygiene because we noticed them picking items that fell on the floor like napkins and a chopstick, and really question whether they cleaned their hands before handling people's plates. That waiter brought plates out too quickly after he touched the dirty napkins, and when we walked by that area, I didn't see any hand sanitizers.  I will say both my husband and I had upset stomachs afterwards. There were also plenty of staff by the door when we left, including our waiter and the one who spilled my dish on me. No one said thank you or farewell. read more

I'm so happy I decided to try Seak again. I am writing a 2nd review because my 1st experience was take out and the establishment had just recently opened. I was here for dinner and dined indoors. The seats were all spaced out and I felt safe eating here. We ordered the beef pad kee mao (drunken noodle), green curry, and grilled shrimp summer rolls. All dishes were good, I would definitely order the summer rolls again and the drunken noodle. The beef was tender and flavorful. My favorite part was dessert! You must get the mango guava cheesecake. I am not usually a sweets person, but this was INSANELY delicious. You won't regret it. I'm glad I gave Seak another try. I'll definitely be back next time with a bottle of wine, because it's BYOB! If you are looking for South East Asian food, this is the place to go. I discovered this restaurant with a quick Yelp search, and it came very highly recommended. They are located in a strip mall with many stores and parking options. The back of the restaurant is located along the Hudson River. The indoor dining is open and airy with low lighting. The menu offers the South East Asian staples. I've tried the pad see ew, shrimp summer rolls, and pho. All have been pretty good. Their pricing is in the high side but I believe that is due to the location. For pickup, you head to the bar area that's right in front of the entrance door. So that is straight forward. It's a hidden jem for Thai food. Must try! At first, it seems like small store, but they are pretty huge inside, very pretty, rustic interior, with a awesome view of Hudson and NYC. Had a really great experience at seak! Had the traditional banh xeo which was a thin crepe like appetizer filled with shrimp & chicken. It was very good, I could have had a few more by myself. I had the Thai eggplant with chicken which came with a side of rice. It was fried eggplant which was surprisingly not crunchy, tossed in a beautiful brown sauce which was very mild, I expected the flavor to be more rich because of the color but it wasn't. My friend had the drunken noodles which also tasted very mild, I would've appreciated if the flavors were a bit stronger. We also had a taro bubble tea which was great. What we got: Grilled Garlic Shrimp Summer Rolls Thai Curry Mussels Yellow Curry with Shrimp Pad Kee Mao with Shrimp Cafe Saigon Frappe Peanut Butter Explosion Service was great! As for the appetizers, we really enjoyed the mussels, but the summer roles were just okay and the rice paper was tough and too chewy. A bit dissatisfied with the Pad Kee Mao as well. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and one random day at Edgewater finally brought us here. I actually didnt expect the outdoor seating at the "back" to be beautiful! What a pleasant surprise! It had a nice view of the Hudson and NYC especially during sundown. And since the deck was located at the back of the restaurant, there is less people traffic and you can enjoy your food in peace. Now speaking of food, my goodness was their drunken noodle delicious!! The noodles were nice and chewy and with the beef and shrimp added, the meat juices coated that pasta to perfection! It was the best ive had so far! We also ordered Pho and summer rolls which were all good. We enjoyed dinner so much I even decided to come back for my bday (ordered drunken noodles again!!) and that second time i brought the family pack haha Everyone enjoyed the food! Finally got a chance to come back again to support our local business and during the pandemic. Glad indoor dining is allowed in NJ. We got there on Christmas Eve for lunch and there were a few tables with patrons. Social distancing was observed as people were seated far away from each other. We got seated by the window with the view of Hudson River! Nice!! We were craving for Pho for a long time and the Seak Pho certainly didn't disappoint with lots of ingredients. Broth was tasty and clear. We also got Vietnamese spring rolls as appetizers and they were delicious and crispy. Wish it did come with some lettuce though since it's always good to have some greens. I've been here multiple times but this is the first time ordering pork chops. We ordered the pork chops but we were too full to even have a bite of it so we took it home and ate it the next day. This was our second time coming here. It's a pretty trendy Asian fusion restaurant in Edgewater. They have Vietnamese and Thai food. It's not the most authentic food, but it's all right and very convenient. We got the massaman curry and house pho this time. The curry was way too watery, so I had to put my entire bowl of rice to soak up some of the water. Other than that it had a good flavor.
