Cat fish platter

I knew about "Seafood Junction" because of a former co-worker's recommendation. I love seafood, and hubby and I were running errands nearby. Therefore, we concluded that it was an appropriate choice to stop in for an early dinner. There are two (2) separate menus: one for the "steamed" version; the other one for the "fried." We opted for the fried catfish and perch dinners in Cajun seasoning in our first visit. Both dinners came with an AMPLE amount of fries. Since everything was made-to-order and four (4) to-go and dine-in orders were placed before ours, it was a slightly longer, yet still reasonable wait (approximately 20 minutes). The breading wasn't thick at all. The crust was crispy and golden, while the meat inside remained juicy. I enjoyed the Cajun seasoning, though it could have gone a bit easy on the salt. "Seafood Junction" made a positive impression on our inaugural visit. We thought of this corner joint this evening and wanted to get some steamed seafood home. The "steamed" combos were numbered. Contents of seafood combination in each choice were also clearly written on the black chalk board. We had the $31 shrimps, lobster tail, crab, and clams combo tray in Cajun sauce. This also came with potatoes, broccoli, and corn. The wait was rather short and sweet this time around. In about fifteen (15) minutes, our order number was called. Well, that must be my New Year luck! Everything we had was delicious. I could tell parts were thoroughly cleaned before cooking. Other than the Cajun sauce that we requested, there were two (2) additional sauces that resembled "drawn butter" included in the bag. This $31 combo definitely was a treat for us. By the way, our cats also wanted a share of our steamed seafood feast. Of course, hubby and I vigilantly dodged their claws before they reached to the tray. Hey nice try, buddies! I actually preferred their steamed seafood because I can bring the tray home, make myself a cup of tea or coffee, turn the TV on, and dig in with a plenty of napkins on the table. The prices were fair, considering it's Chicago.

The shrimp was delicious and I don't even eat shrimp. They were fried just right. The catfish was delicious and spicy and even though it's fried it wasn't that crispy.

I love this place so much! Yea, I admit it's a little pricey but the food is so dang good. The regular seasoning is my favorite. Be careful if you get any other kind of seasoning because I heard it's spicy. They give you generous portions and all the dishes come with potatoes, corn, and broccoli. Trust me you will be full! My family dined there today and we received excellent customer service. Our food took longer to prepare than normal, so we got free cookies and seafood salad. Hey! I'll take it ;-) we will always come back for more. I highly recommend you try this hidden gem. Especially if you are obsessed with seafood like I am.

A lot of food but not the best tasting. Prices are high but for the type of seafood it's not abnormal.

The menu we thought was a little intimidating, but we ended up getting the #5 (lobster and shrimp) with regular seasoning.

As soon as I walked in, I saw so many goodies I knew I was taking home. They had a very well curated selection of fancy condiments from small makers, rare ingredients, and the highest quality version of many every day foods! Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and knowledgeable. I had to try one of their sandwiches and got the salmon po boy at their recommendation. It was really well seasoned and super fresh with a very generous slice of fish on it. Definitely coming back for another one next time I'm in the area! They have window display with various cuts of meat, deli meats and whole fish. They also had racks which seasonings and sauces. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We elected to go for a couple sandwiches; Glenda had a ham sandwich with lettuce and tomato with mayo and mustard. The sandwich was a good size sandwich and the ham was sliced thin but I found it to be a little salty. She also asked for no onions and there was a good amount of onions on the sandwich. I opted for the bacon burger with cheese. The misleading part was that it wasn't a burger with bacon, the bacon was in the patty; the cheese wasn't melted and I ordered medium rare and received medium. To top it all off, you couldn't taste the bacon and it was poorly under seasoned. Both sandwiches came with bag fries not fresh-cut; which had a Cajun type seasoning salt. They were good but extremely salty. I give this restaurant 2 1/2 stars mostly for the fresh meats. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Ciao Ciao for now. The bread service was fantastic. The tomato focaccia and the baguette were both excellent and I had to remind myself not to fill up on it before the main meal! LOL! We started with the calamari which was very well seasoned and clearly not the typical frozen version you often see from foodservice distributors. It tasted fresh, was crispy, and well prepared. For dinner I ordered the margherita pizza which was simple and delicious. I ended up ordering a second one to-go for my partner who couldn't make it to dinner. He also loved it - even after it sat for ~30 min or so while we chatted more, then drove home to the Maywood area. I would imagine their delivery is pretty good based on that! My mom had the rigatoni vodka with added crumbled Italian sausage which she loved, and my dad ordered the Marcelino. He loved the generous amount of seafood and how well seasoned it was. My parents are big wine drinkers and my dad was especially impressed with the wine list and the selection available. Oscar was an incredible server!! He struck the perfect balance of being attentive while still letting us enjoy a relaxed, unhurried evening. The support staff and food runners were also fantastic and very friendly, making the entire service experience feel polished! I also loved the kitchen was more open which gives you confidence in the quality and care that goes into the food. The dining space is inviting with a nice bar area and an additional room that looks perfect for busy nights or private gatherings. Overall a great restaurant that we would absolutely return to!!

The table bread didn't come out until we ordered and we waited quite a minute to order because our waiter would take a while to come back each time. The restaurant was not crowded at all so it was hard to understand what was taking so long. The first batch of bread was hard and my child's pasta pieces were also somewhat hard. It was just a bit of a mess at first. Then all of our food finally came, plates were smelling good and that helped lift our moods. My husband said that his pasta was just really spicy and the flavor itself wasn't really there. My pasta (vongole) was actually pretty good. We had to ask for Parmesan which helped with flavor for sure but I tried to have no complaints once our dishes came out. It was a nice place to try. If I was to visit again, I would be going to try their paella.

They were definitely not prepared for the crowd of couples. A few minutes after we sat down, a waitress who was not ours came by and asked if we had ordered already. We said no, thinking that she would help get us started. Instead, she took my boyfriend's menu to hand to her table. This left a bad impression on us. Food wise, it was delicious and all food came out in a timely manner. They were being pretty strict about only being seated for 1.5 hours max due to the rush. Our waitress was fine, checked in on us in a timely manner. I love the interior design of this place, and it looks really nice in their patio. I don't think I'll be coming back though, at least not during any nights I know it'll be crowded.
