Ribeye with blue potato mash
Sabrina R.

We went for a Holiday Nurse's night out, and had a great time! The scenery is super cute, and the hostess was not only very sweet but also very knowledgeable and proud of the food that Blue Fire serves. All of us loved our drinks, and no one had any complaints in that regard. I ordered the steak, and at first thought it wouldn't be enough food, but the portion was perfect. The steak was also perfectly cooked and seasoned nicely. I really liked the two sauces that it came with. Parking was easy to find on the street, but I think they have a parking lot as well. I would definitely come again based on the smell of my friend's Risotto alone (which I will definitely be trying).

This is my 2nd time coming here and both times I'm blown away by how beautiful and gorgeous the inside decor is! It's so intimate, warm and inviting, I could spend hours there! The drinks are always incredible! The food was also delicious! The calamari here is my favorite so far! We got lobster ravioli, pasta alla vodka and pork medallions, all 3 were chefs kiss! The desserts were mouth watering, don't pass on the dulce de leche mousse and tiramisu, they are soooooo good! Our server was super sweet and handled the restaurant all by herself gracefully! Always a great time here!

The ambiance was great, and the service was friendly. They have a nice patio with open flame heaters. Felt really cozy! There is a bar and a kitchen too.

Lamb chops with mashed potatoes and potato chips

The lamb chops were good cooked they way I like them medium well and were seasoned very well.

The atmosphere was great as was our service. The food was fabulous, had fried calamari as our appetizer and the serving size was plenty for all 3 of us! Fresh bread with olive oil and grated cheese was also delicious. Our entrees ....OMG ...the spaghetti with chicken parmesan was so delicious!! The spaghetti was seasoned deliciously! We also had pork wrapped in crispy bacon and that was seasoned so perfect. I definitely recommend this restaurant to all ...for a nice lunch or romantic dinner!

Patio with live jazz.

Came in several times this year and never disappointed. There's a great all season porch in front with live jazz on Saturdays. Great variety of foods. European flavors. We like to get pizzas, apps and entrees to share.

Love the decor!

Service tonight was a bit slow, but when we were finally noticed, we were well taken care of. The decor is so cool. Very intimate. Live music on the patio on this particular Saturday evening, not sure if it's every Saturday. Food was soooo flavorful. We ordered the dark side of the sea... delicious... sauce was just right and plenty of seafood! Also, we got the arugula shrimp salad. Incredible! The shrimp was grilled to perfection. For cocktails, i got an Indigo, which is a raspberry tequila based drink. It was good but a bit too sweet for me. Hubs got the Sapphire which is a gin based cocktail. That was really refreshing! We would love to come again!

Dark side of the sea was 10/10 Mussels 8/10 Steaks was underwhelming, I would not get this again. The whole plate was around $45 def not worth it 5/10 I believe there was only one waiter, poor guy he was running around alone and I felt really bad asking for water/bread/check etc

Bologne
Trisha F.

The atmosphere is dark and has a unique vibe. The mushroom bruschetta appetizer was great. It came with 6 pieces of tasty toasts. The bolognese was just "okay". The sauce was very watery, but the portion is big. The Cesar salad with shrimp was a beautifully presented dish that was very good! They have a lot of tea options which is unique! The reason for 3 stars is because the waiter was not attentive or present. We waited about 20 minute after finishing food for our check (and that's because we went to thr host to ask for him). Also, meals should come out at the same time so that everyone in your party can eat together, but they served one of the dishes later, so by the time one guest was eating, everyone else was nearly done!!! He also only ascertained our satisfaction AFTER everyone was done eating (instead of after 2 bites or so). We completely we're out of water and had to flag him down to get more as well as a tea refill... overall, not the best service.

Bruschetta With Mushrooms
Alicia J.

What an elegant place. Even though it's on a busy road, the decor transports you to a European deck. The menu is extensive! Salomon comes on the daily. Got a light lunch, mushroom bruschetta, the mushrooms were incredible! I'd sub feta for cream cheese, but still was amazing. Fresh baked bread and the cocktails! To die for. I had a refreshing gin drink. The service was exceptional! Truly such a lovely human. Def will be back

Pornstar Martini & Strawberry Vodka Cocktail
Kailee T.

This was the absolute BEST meal in all of the suburbs! The service was so amazing, Nadia gave us all the best recommendations and was the sweetest! The vibes there are truly unmatched, so many cute picture spots and the food is giving 5 star restaurant! Will be back and bringing any friends who visit me in Chicago here!

Great place for a nice night out. We went for Al our anniversary and I adored the lamb chops. The calamari was really good as well.

We had children with us and asked for their menu items to come as fast as they could. However, the server was extremely short with us and didn't even bring drinks quickly. While the restaurant was not very busy, it too a very long time to get our food - especially one in our group who didn't get food until almost everyone else was done. The food itself was ok, but I would say that nothing was exceptional - somewhat bland entrees and lacking originality. Could be what we ordered...as I know many people find the food here to be quite good. The prices are reasonable for the area but I was disappointed with the general unfriendly service and time to receive food. I've been here previously and we had a somewhat lackluster meal that time also. The previous time, they were pleasant enough but food was only ok - entrees were not very hot when we received them. All in all, there are friendlier spots in the area.

It had a base of pureed butternut squash, a different temperature than the salmon, and the roasted/salted kale underneath, also served with pickled onion. It was fine. We had a small loaf of their bread as an appetizer, served with a goat cheese and a red pepper sauce (perfect spicing), also deemed very good. The hummus plate was also good. My partner had their eggplant dish, which she said was fine, not amazing, but good. Each of us, save me, had a drink (except me, the designated driver) of alcohol or wine. Also good to very good. I had their coffee, which (an Americano) was quite good. For a side, we tried their mac & cheese, which is mac and another pasta and cheese with panko, strangely delicious. I say strangely, because it looked pretty standard but the flavorings were good, and it retained its heat. This ran about $60ea (incl wine or liquor + coffee). Oddly, after decent beignets, I looked at the tab to find that a 3% surcharge had been added. I asked, Why? It was immediately withdrawn without explanation. I would recommend viewing their menu online to see if it fits with your budget and dietary desires. There are vegetarian entrees, and meat options (including an Amish Chicken half, which was rated good) that might suit you. It's good food. It is not totally amazing or exemplary, so no five stars. Would we go back? Maybe. Watch your bill carefully.

The vibe inside is perfect for an intimate evening or afternoon lunch. Dark wood seating, an ample sized bar with dim lighting makes this a comfortable, chic spot. There is street side outdoor seating; however, there were no table umbrellas during our visit. The staff greeted us immediately and was happy to review the menu with us. We had the mole with roasted broccoli and cauliflower, unicorn pescado tacos and a Plato Fuerte with shrimp, lobster and chicken in a tasty creamy sauce. We loved all of the entrées; however, thought the mole was a lacking the traditional mole flavors we've tried before. The unicorn fish tacos were the standout and were crispy and delicious! We also appreciated the 4 taco serving, which was perfect for two. Prices were on point with other similar style restaurants in Oak Park, slightly elevated but fair for the quality of ingredients. Let's not forget the cocktails...outstanding!

On the downside, the bone marrow was undercooked, and we actually found a piece of aluminum foil in the mac and cheese that was prepared without truffle (menu states truffle). For example, we were told the street corn wouldn't be on the cob, but it was. Overall, some hits and some misses. Ambiance is ok - there's nothing that stands out. Drinks and mains were good, but a few things really missed the mark. For the price I don't think I would return.
