The "Indigo"
Adaora O.

A little hard to find at first, but the bar is located right inside of Trattoria Peppino restaurant. The bar is nice, there is low lighting and plenty of space to sit. The calamari was good and the drink "Indigo" was OK, a little sour for my liking so I don't think I'd order a second time. They have slots in the back which I think could be fun if you're just looking for something casual to do in the area. Sounds like they have karaoke as well!

I really love this spot! It's right in Elmwood Park, so it's close to home, which is so much better than having to go far for places that are similar. This establishment is two awesome places in one! On one side, you have a bar, TVs and the whole cocktail bar feel. On the other side it's an extremely lovely European American restaurant! The restaurant is amazing! The food is so good and you wouldn't expect it out of a restaurant/bar. The spinach and artichoke dip is one of the best that I've had because you can tell that it is not store-bought, and that it's made there! Delicious! Their calamari really surprised me though because of how well it was breaded and fried. I have officially put their calamari on my list as one of the best in Chicago. The main courses that I tried were super good as well. The Zuppa di Mare/seafood pasta was so elegant and flavorful made with a black pasta, so not only was it good to eat, it was beautiful to look at as well. The cheesecake was the perfect ending to everything. What was surprising though was the drinks! They have a cocktail list that you have to try! My two favorite drinks were the P*rnstar and Indigo. They were so good! The indigo was so good that you could barely taste the alcohol, and the flavors were yummy! Try them!!! I was there on a Friday and at around 9 o'clock. Karaoke started with disco lights, and it was super cool. I'd highly recommend this place for a night out where you can enjoy really good food, good drinks, and karaoke! Head here for a great time with friends and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!

The place it's relaxing inside the outdoor (it's more indoor) has a nice vibe feels like a patio you can look at the street (North Av) Food is good and affordable menu has different interesting items Servers are all friendly but honestly they need more experience and training they need to know more about the items on the menu, the place is not very busy for lunch or early dinner, looks like servers run the place I don't see a manager around every time I've been here

Great food, fast service, and intimate ambiance for a Tuesday night. We got the specials -- salmon pizza, steak, and lamb chops. I've never had salmon pizza before and it was surprisingly tasty and not fishy. The steak was standard. BUT the lamb chops were a start hit -- very flavorful and tender, well seasoned, and great tasting. We also got their most popular drink - the Pornstar Martini. VERY good! 2 will get you buzzed. Highly recommend and will be coming back. The owner (Dmitry) is very nice and professional.

Upon arriving I was greeted by some of the chillest host who I can tell love what she does. We were seated on a comfortable couch on the Resturant side with a nice window view. The ambience is more chill during the afternoon but more of a party during the night hours. For starters we ordered drinks & got calamari. She chose "The Coco" I picked the "The Indigo" both were great I think we should've switched drinks though. For entrées I chose "The Blue Fire Ribeye Steak with purple mashed potatoes" & she had the " Dark Side of the sea" Both dishes were amazingly plated & taste even better than it looked! We also got the "Super Pepperoni" to go it turned out to be great also! Overall I give them a 5 out of 5 on my MAC meter! Will be going again!

Great drinks here and the service was quick. They have a lot of entertainment to keep you interested with music, games, etc. so really something for everyone for a nice night out.

VIBE: The dining room was large and rather dim, with dark wood tones. We were glad to have a window table for more light. I cannot recall if there was music playing, so that says something. It was not busy, so noise from other tables was minimal. SERVICE: our server, David, was cordial and attentive. Food was comfortably coursed and arrived at a timely pace. FOOD: We enjoyed everything. The Hoja Santa salad was fresh and delicious, with an interesting mix of ingredients. Ditto the Bruselas, highlighted by a tangy tamarind-anise glaze. The Pescado big plate was highlighted by perfectly-cooked shrimp and a tasty sauce; accompanying sea bass was OK. Wine-wise, the Incognito red blend and the Santo Tomas were inoffensive but dull (and overpriced). We enjoyed our visit, and are looking forward to returning (and hopefully enjoying better wine). @

I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed the experience. We started with cocktails, old-fashioneds for the guys and a mojito mocktail for me. The three of us shared everything we ordered. We started with an item called the Volcan, which was crispy mini quesadillas stuffed with mashed potatoes and cheese then topped with shrimp al pastor. I loved the crunch of the quesadillas against the creamy filling. Next we shared a carne asada pizza. This pizza had a perfectly thin and crispy crust topped with grilled skirt steak with a cilantro pesto sauce. So flavorful! For the main event we shared a 22oz bone-in ribeye with truffle fries. A medium rare tender and juicy steak and truffle - c'mon, need I say more? Oak Park has some of my favorite restaurants, and Hoja Santa is one.

Chef Gabriel's food is creative and delicious. His brother-in-law Jose, I believe, is the one behind the great cocktail list and making housemade aperitifs. The four of us shared two appetizers. The tuna tartare - chopped tuna on top of creamy avocado surrounded by crispy capers and quail yolk. It was served with homemade potato and vegetable chips. We also shared the goat cheese - creamy melted goat cheese sitting in a pool of tasty marinara. This was served with grilled baguette pieces. This appetizer could use more of the baguette as we ran out of bread and still had goat cheese left to enjoy. For dinner, my sister had the gnocchi with braised beef, short rib, spinach and mushrooms. I know this dish was delicious because this is what my husband ordered the first time we dined here. My two cousins had the chicken limone and said it was very good. (I have my eye on this for next time ). I opted for the branzino which was moist and served in a delicious lemon caper sauce. I would like to see a traditional pasta with marinara sauce on the menu. I think that would be a great addition for clientele who are into the traditional instead of the creative and unique. There was no room for dessert, but shots of limoncello came to the table. So sweet of Divino. Let me tell you the limoncello was amazing. Luckily, I was able to buy a bottle of this housemade limoncello. Since the four of us were raving about the limoncello, right before we walked out the door Divino gave us a tasting of the housemade pistachio cream. Omg! So smooth, creamy and divine. We enjoyed our conversations with the chef and his brother-in-law, the other owner. Great guys who care about their customers and restaurant.

We had a taste of each other's plate and we all agreed each dish had outstanding flavors. Simply delicious! The food exceeded all expectations. I can go on and on. Highly recommend! I told him that I wanted something with a lot of veggies and he said he would be able to just make a primavera for me. it was PERFECT. Honestly, had so many veggies that I was so happy. It had a very light garlic and olive oil sauce. you can ask for less or more veggies if you want as well, but the proportions was perfect for me. vodka rigatoni (10/10 yums): this was also AMAZING. I loved how the sauce coated each noodle, but it wasn't too saucy. The portion was also huge. The sauce wasn't too creamy and had a good tartness to it from the tomatoes. side note, there is a disclaimer at the bottom that said that the prices can vary based on market rates. my friend had gotten a steak and it ended up being $10 more than what the menu said. this is just something to keep in mind if you get something that is based on market price! will definitely be going again

I ordered a Tiramisu Martini and then a Porn Star Martini. They were both good, but I preferred the Porn Star one. It was refreshing, not too sweet, and garnished with a dehydrated lemon slice. Perfect! Our friends both ordered old fashioned cocktails that looked equally as good. It was a Saturday night and this tiny bar was jam-packed. We had to stand, but it was okay because we had only stopped in for one drink before heading to another restaurant for dinner.
