Andreas met with me that week and we discussed our goals, system design and size, and how it would impact our current energy bills. Given the tax credits ending at the end of the calendar year, I knew I most likely wouldn't be on the schedule to install and commission my system before then but Sandbar worked with me to find a financing option that provided many of the monetary benefits of the tax rebate with minimal restrictions. Sandbar completed a site audit in September and finalized the system design in November. Just after the new year, I got word that all the pieces were in place and Sandbar would start applying for permits and work with PG&E to be able to schedule our install. Drake and his team came out in the second week of January to start the installation process. I was kept in the loop and told what to expect for each day of the process. Installation wrapped up within 4 days with minimal impact to our lives and we began a dance with PG&E to sign off and install a meter collar that unfortunately lasted a few weeks, all the while Sandbar kept me up to date. Once PG&E installed the meter collar and signed off, Sandbar was back out quickly to commission the system and get me fully set up. Since commissioning, I've already seen a great impact on my winter energy bills and look forward to the rest of the seasons. After installation, Sandbar went the extra mile to help me navigate the San Jose Clean Energy rebate program after some initial issues applying and receiving the rebate. They worked with me and SJCE to ensure that I qualified and that I would receive the full rebate for my battery installation. Then I just google searched & found this company with 5* rating and thought of giving it a try. What happened: When I called 'Pacific Edge Electric & Solar' it went into voice mail, but within 2 minutes I got a text message - " we will be calling you in 10 minutes". I was so surprised by their fast response as I tried connected with other companies as well and never got response from them. Adem from Pacific Edge called me in few minutes and he asked me what's the issue. I explained him & he assured me that he will stop by within few hours. Then a representative called me and took the details from me. It was very fast moving service & response from their end. Their services: Adem texted me the time frame when he will be coming. He came & inspect everything max within 15 minutes and found the issue. Fixed it. & he explained me the issue - why it happened & how it needs to be fixed. Also he charged a nominal fee. However, whenever we followed up, they were responsive and ultimately addressed the issues. He worked in close coordination with our roofing contractor to install the supports for the panels so that the new roof would not need to be disrupted. Overall a very good experience and we're very satisfied with the new system. We have also had Solar Lightworkers do some miscellaneous electrical work for us (undergrounding our electrical service and installation of a charger for our EV) and their workmanship has always been outstanding.

The system has worked with very little maintenance, and has been invaluable during power outages that are common where we live in the Santa Cruz mountains. Mark and Shane did a fantastic job - everything is to code (and frequently exceeds code requirements). The price was reasonable, and Mark helped us apply for and receive the rebates available at the time. Everyone who has looked at the system has commented on the excellent workmanship and clean installation. Recently (2021) we decided to add a ground-based solar array to supplement our generation in order to support an EV car charger and hybrid heat-pump/electric water heater. Mark and Shane designed the array support system, and it is incredibly well built and solid. The installation was done quickly, at a very reasonable cost, and integrated into our existing system easily. They also ran a 240 line to and installed the new water heater, and even patched some drywall that had been removed for another unrelated job. Again the quality of work is extremely high and the system has worked flawlessly. While working on this job, they also discovered and fixed a dangerously loosely-connected neutral line in our main meter panel that could have resulted in major appliance burnouts and other hazards had it not been addressed. Mark and Shane are very good at listening, and are enthusiastic about what they are doing and want you to be happy with the results. They outsource work to sub contractors, who do half the job.. for instance they installed the battery according to the city rules but did not connect the battery. They installed the panels and only 1/2 the panels were working and then they charged us again to fix the other 1/2 of the panel. We wanted to get done with the approval from city so we gave in every time, but now after spending quite a bit of money with them and we still do not have permits. I do not recommend them.

It's crazy out there, and many companies don't want to touch a system they didn't install. I decided to Google "consultant", and was pretty frantic when I finally got William on the phone. After the call, I told my husband it was like talking to a therapist! He had empathy, and he was understanding. He also had suggestions to help us out. He found a company willing to help us, and bring us into 2023! My husband is now happily tracking our solar output with his smartphone. And when there were hiccups with the new installation, he was a great liason.
