I have been working with Sarah on a removal and replacement of my 28 solar panels. We scheduled it 2 months ago. The team started the removal on Tuesday but had to leave after 3 panels die to very high winds. I have a 2nd story steep slope roof so is was not safe for the crew. Sarah was very professional rescheduled a crew for Wednesday. Of course it was pouring when they arrived but the wind was not a factor. They removed the 28 panels but had to leave the roof mounts in. If removed I would have leaks all over my 2nd story of my house. Daddario roofing is scheduled for Monday to remove the roof and again Sarah came through. Sarah had a team out Friday morning to remove the roof mounts and we are good to go. Sarah did a amazing job of rescheduling 2 different crews that I am sure were already scheduled to get my job on time. Great work by all! read more

I recently completed a solar system installation with 18 panels and 2 batteries. Our original goal (as we communicated to the company multiple times) was to fully disconnect from PG&E and rely on our backup generator for power during lengthy poor weather time periods. The initial installation went smoothly, but everything since then has been disappointing & frustrating. The county permitting process was delayed by nearly 8 weeks because the solar installation was not up to code. When they sent out a team to fix the problem, they ordered the wrong insufficient materials because they somehow didn't know the size of the array that they had installed weeks earlier. It eventually passed the county permitting inspection. Then there were problems with functionality during a power outage. During the sales process we voiced multiple concerns around having sufficient battery capacity to sustain multiple days of poor weather. We spent a lot of time & money to have our generator permitted based on this conversation. We were told that our standby generator could be used to recharge the batteries. When a lengthy PG&E outage coupled with bad weather in early January caused our batteries to drain to zero, with no generator charging, I contacted their service department email yet it took them 15 days to respond. They told me that the batteries can never be recharged with the generator and insisted that the prior conversations never occurred. We never would have spent $$$$ on generator permitting if we were told that it was impossible to charge the batteries via the generator. Overall, a very disappointing and experience. While the solar array works fine during good weather, that's not the primary reason why we installed the system. Poor service, dishonesty and incompetence are unaccetpable. I can't recommend working with a company that behaves in this fashion. read more

Last Spring I needed a new inverter for my 12 year old system. They strung me along from March until August to get my inverter installed, because they dropped the ball. The inverter worked for 4 months, and I just noticed it's not working. So they are charging me $200/hour to come an see why. I would not recommend this company. We've had three projects performed by Solar Technologies and they have all been an excellent experience with quality products and professional, friendly, efficient consultants and installation crew. My initial 2010 SunPower solar panels are still outperforming the expectations set in my original proposal. The SunPower panels we added in 2022 are even more efficient and with the additional of two Tesla Powerwall units we are fairly insulated from the continual PG&E rate hikes and any power outages that may occur. In all of our projects, Solar Technologies took care of everything. We were kept informed of any equipment delays (i.e. there was a bit of a wait for the Tesla Powerwalls). All the County permits, inspections, and any applicable rebates were taken care of without any involvement on our part. In particular, I'd like to give a shout out to our Solar Consultant, Liz Chapa and our on site inspection technician Kiriel Kesterson (she was there to meet with the County inspector for final approval). This company was fantastic for buying solar panels. Keenan Shaw was so competent and responsive that I chose the company for my Tesla battery wall. Unfortunately, that didn't go as well. Eric Heagan ghosted me when my garage door wouldn't work during a power outage due to incorrect wiring. I had to hire a contractor for $125 and Eric promised to reimburse me. I had a great team, from the sales person, permitting plans/process, to the installation. The crew that installed was wonderful, very knowledgeable, professional, and did good clean looking work. I had a 5.6KW system installed and a 240 line for an EV charger added. I can tell they took their time to install correctly and did not rush themselves. Everything was permitted and the inspection went smoothly with no issues. Solar Tech took care of all the permitting and interactions with PGE. I did not have to deal with any of that bureaucracy. The wait from my order to the install was long (7 months) because they are so busy but the were upfront with the time estimate and gave me frequent updates. read more

I stand by the experience we had with the installation and support initially. This past year we've had some issues with our system and I have had no response to two e-mail requests and 4 phone calls. I was told when we were having trouble some time ago that they had an employee shortage and if they could get someone out to me it would be a while. I got someone else to help me with the issue. I have a large system and spent over 100K with this company. I'm now losing money every day the system is not working properly. The company clearly needs to redirect resources to customer service and maintenance of existing accounts. It isn't fair to continue to open new accounts and leave the "old" customers in the dust. Most of my review stands. 1. Wrong panels installed. They admitted it was a mistake but that kind of thing doesn't happen anymore. 2. They convinced me that the installation offset from the roof is irrelevant, so fine. 3. Sales estimate way off. They never addressed this issue. 4. Roof penetration method. They told me that they use a non-penetration method now. In all, I received no compensation for the lousy system I am stuck with, but some explanations that their business operates better than it used to. I'm inclined to believe them, however it's impossible to enthusiastically recommend this business based on my experience. I'm upgrading this review to 3 stars, not because I'm happy, but because even though they weren't willing to compensate me or correct anything on their dime, they were generous with their support time to provide advice and possible solutions. read more

Our path to solar was a bit circuitous, as we tried to figure out the right timing and budget to make it happen. We received excellent support and assistance from Skyler and Bob, our project consultants. We were going to pay cash, then do a payment plan, and back and forth we went for a number of months. They were really patient as we worked through other home projects that ate into our budget and time. There were some moving targets as to new solar panels coming out, State rebates, etc., and they kept us up-to-date on that quite well. There was a delay on their end too, but their excellent communication helped keep us on track. Early on their engineers weren't very good at getting back to us, but we always got the right answers when we needed them from our project consultant. After almost a year of us figuring out our plan, we finally got things set and scheduled our installation. That process was very fast, and they helped out in two areas. Initially the panels were going to be visible from the street, and I shared my concern with the project manager. He was very nice listening to my aesthetic complaint, but wasn't sure he could solve it. Well, he kept at it, and later in the day said he figured out how to install them without being visible. Second, our utility room didn't leave space for the sub-panel box. They explained the options thoroughly, and in the end installed a small box on the outside of our house that is sleek and small. They worked with me on the extra labor and that was very appreciated. Thank you! read more

Holding off on final review until we have some resolution. It could easily go to 1 star or 5. Unfortunately, it may end up going to court if we continue on the current course... It seemed like all was well when speaking with our nice, knowledgeable salesperson. But after we signed the contract, all communication seemed to fall off a cliff. It appeared they were stretching out their timeline as much as possible, probably in an effort to focus on delayed installations. While this may make some sense, it was frustrating. And things haven't gotten much better from there... Delays at every turn. What started as "trying to get your panels installed in under the 6 months we discussed" turned into 6+ months and still no work having been done. They finally installed the panels and had a contractor upgrade our electrical panel. But the panel was done incorrectly (miscommunication) and needs to be re-done. Still no EV charger. What was supposed to be completed in under 6 months has now turned into 11. No idea when we'll get our batteries that were supposed to be installed months ago... read more

I can't believe it's been two years already! I've enjoyed having my 10 panel array from day one. After spending a few months of research, I chose Solar Technologies. My requirements were product quality & reliability, and a rock solid installation company. SunPower rose to the top of my research list for quality product, and Solar Technologies trumped all the competition as not only being a Master Dealer but being a local company! The first person I met was Kyle, the Director of residential installations. Though he just arrived at the office, and I was there without an appointment, he took time out to speak with me. A few weeks later I called to have a Design Consultant come out for a site inspection and assessment. Keenan Shaw was highly professional and knowledgeable. He explained how the panels would be installed, and the amount that I would need to cover my usage. He also made the financial process seamless with a referral to Mosaic. He was always quick to return my emails and phone calls, and made sure I received all the requisite documents, and permit applications. Without his attention to detail, I know I would have lost track on what to do next and when! I also was contacted by Marina, the Project Manager. She made sure my Mosaic loan application was moving forward and set the date for the installation. When I asked for special requests, Keenan delivered. I wanted the installation to be documented, so he arranged to have it videotaped. I was blown away when Jeff Parr, the owner of the company came on-site to videotape the installation with his drone! The crew at solar technologies is fantastic !! Great service and a Wonderful product. The first portion of our system was installed in 2009 and it was based around a 70% return on our bill from PGE and that payback on the investment would take 5years. In reality, it was 59 months :) Additionally the continued savings over the years has been tremendous and we just added to our system in 2020. Don't fall for their sweet talk and false promises! I bought a 6kW system in 2014-2015. Installation went well and I was all 5 stars. I was told about the great monitoring and 10 yr warranty. Then production dropped to half in 2017 - which I noticed on my own. I reached out to them (Tim Glanville specifically) and was promised a service call which never happened. I followed up again and no service call. So essentially, it is a great sale and installation process. But when it really matters ie solar power production, they don't care and have moved on. Forget the warranty, forget the call backs! Hope they see this and now have a reason to follow through on their promise. read more

When it comes to work done on my home, I would consider myself discerning and somewhat critical because of bad experiences I've had in the past, and I can honestly say that my experience with Solar Technologies was one of the best experiences I have had thus far. From the initial consultation with Keenan to the installation and follow-up, the entire process was very well organized and required virtually zero involvement on my part. The only thing I had to do was sign minimal paperwork, and type in my wi-fi password when the internet connection to SunPower was setup, and that's it. Though you can't really see them unless you're coming from downtown on Water Street, or get a ladder, aesthetics are important to us since these were going on a brand new, relatively upscale home that has high visibility due to its location at the top of a hill. The eight panels are dark and look space age...very cool. We've only had the system up for 6 months, so it'll be another half year until we see our first annual Net Metering bill, so I don't know if we'll be positive or negative. However, I do know that we produced a lot more energy than we consumed in August 2015, which was the first full summer month we had after installation (our house does not have A/C, but we have an electric car). In the winter months, I'm guessing it's better to use electric heaters and go negative on your Net Metering balance, but we found that using our natural gas powered central heating was much more comfortable, and that cost us over $100 per month during the coldest months, so don't expect all your energy problems to be solved with solar. I'll update this review when we finish our first year to rate the efficiency of SunPower's panels. read more

The install was very good, and I was particularly pleased with Daniel's (lead technician) excellent customer service.  He made sure that everything was ready for the reinspection that was necessary to some protect some wiring on the unfinished garage wall where the solar subpanel and monitoring system were installed.  Daniel kept me well informed of progress, as well as when there power may need to be turned off which is important with zoom calls and classes that were scheduled by family members. What a shame...... This review isn't for work done as we never got to experience that...however. .... We recently had a solar inverter fault, our original installer isn't in business anymore so wanted a company to come up to the house and help us out. We left a message, got no response and no returned call. My wife followed up only to be told 'We don't help people with solar unless they are our own installations'. Whilst I apretiate that this is their own business and their own practices, we were somewhat taken aback. We subsequently got hold of Allterra Solar who appeared within 24hrs, fixed the problem and have gained a happy new customer. Sorry for the review score but better people know and don't waste their time than reach out and get silence ! read more
