An update for this company is warranted after another outstanding experience. In August 2023, our solar system began tripping the breaker in our main panel after nearly four years of flawless performance. I contacted Megan. She sent a representative out immediately to troubleshoot the problem which proved more difficult than thought. The Day One Solar team worked persistently to identify the problem, finally making the ultimately correct decision to pull new wire from the main panel to the inverter, which solved the issue. The entire Day One Solar team was dedicated to resolving this problem, which they ultimately did. And this, after four years since our initial installation, which, by the way, they won with the low bid. Not only are these highly competent professionals, they are a pleasure to have on the job as well. They stand behind their product and workmanship. Everyone knows that's worth everything in today's world. Well done. read more

Day One Solar installed our home battery back-up unit a few years ago and then we upgraded it when a better solution became available. They are unfailingly reasonably priced, responsive and easy to deal with. Megan, Matt and Ray have been able patiently to answer questions whenever I've had them. I'd recommend Day One Solar to anybody! read more

Day One Solar - Solar Installation Near Me - Santa Cruz, California

l interviewed a couple of solar providers before selecting Day One. They came in with a bid that was better than the others, and it cost about 30% less. They explained everything, provided documentation, and answered my many questions. This is a lot of money to invest, and I wanted it to pay off. We collaborated on panel placement, which I liked because we got a better array position than either of us had initially planned. Installation was easy and fast. Disruption in my home was negligible, and the panels started producing energy immediately. It's been great to track the progress, especially because in the last couple of months we've produced more energy than we've used. I'd recommend Day One Solar because everyone was great, including the office staff. And I'm very happy with my panels... and with the tax credit! read more

Tony and the crew were good to work with. All our questions were answered, and we ended up with a fine installation. We felt listened to with regard to our thoughts and ideas. Excellent install and service. We had our solar and battery setup installed by Day One Solar several months ago, but I waited before I wrote a review because I wanted to see how they followed up after the install. They do follow up quite well, and they have made sure we were satisfied. The installers were very professional and did beautiful work. We have had some questions and Megan has always been able to get good answers for them. I am very happy with our choice of Day One. Highly recommended. Tim W read more

5 stars easily. From my initial phone call, to subsequent education and information gathering, the staff at Day1 were on point. I believe one important aspect of a good customer experience is making everything effortless. Tony, Matt, Megan and John and the Install crew made everything effortless. I had almost pulled the trigger last year with a different company, but everything was too difficult. I am glad I waited and chose Day1. Not only was the install flawless, a subsequent visit to actually move a panel that was underproducing due to a vent in my rooftop. No questions asked. Now I am producing 100% again I would highly recommend this company if you want a professional job with minimal effort on your part. read more

Day One did a great job with the installation of a battery system to complement our previously installed solar panels. Ray and all the other installers/technicians were extremely professional and always showed up on time. While there were delays in receiving our SGIP refund (due to PGE, not Day One), Megan worked with us relentlessly to shake it loose from PGE beaucracy. Shaman did a great job too! read more

Day One Solar installed an agriculture system for us at our farm. The whole team was very professional, helpful and followed up on all inquiries. Big shout out to Megan who helped get us through the transition with PG&E. We would definitely work with them again. Highly recommend this company. read more

They did a great job of installing our solar panels and battery. The battery did give them a hard time but they kept after it until it worked. We have not paid PGE for electricity for 9 months. We run completely off the solar panels and battery. read more

I'm very happy with Day One Solar and my solar panels. The backup battery is wonderful and gives me a lot of security and peace of mind. The crew was friendly and knowledgable. After doing my home I believe they did at least two more homes in my neighborhood. I've heard nothing but good comments. read more

Overall, I had a fantastic experience with Day One Solar. I had received quotes from a number of installers, there was quite a wide range in the quotes but Day One was one of the most competitive. Tony was super helpful and walked me through various options and we adjusted the system to align with our needs. I decided to go with Day One because I had heard good things from a friend, and also because they are local. The installation process was painless. The team were fantastic, both friendly and respectful. Good communication and explanation of what they were doing and when. The installation was done within a few days, including installation of a new breaker box. The inspection was also painless (although it took a while to get it scheduled, things were slow as this was mid-COVID). I haven't had any issues with the system at all, but it's nice to know that Day One are monitoring the system remotely - accidentally disconnected the inverter from my network when I was doing some maintenance, and received an email from Day One the next day checking in. Overall, highly recommended! read more

We have worked twice now with Tony and his crew at Day One. The first time was in 2017 when DayOne delivered a combination ground mount and roof installation at a non-profit which we helped support. It was a rather complex 66kW system and they did a great job at a very competitive price. Two+ years later that system is running great and the non profit is thrilled with all the money they are saving! More recently Day One completed a 6.5 kW roof installation on our residence in Aptos. From first contact to completion of project was less than three months (and this included delays due to summer travel and vacations) and it took just one month from contract signing to completion of installation. Day One's crew was friendly, efficient and professional and again their pricing was very attractive. I would work with them again without hesitation! read more

Day One Solar has been an awesome partner. The planning and install went absolutely seamlessly, with Tony and his team doing all the hard work. Prior to installing solar, we were paying $300-800 a month for electricity. Today, our average cost is under $200 a month. We've paid off the panels in record time. I highly recommend Tony and Day One Solar! read more

First thing I noticed with Ben was his friendly demeanor. Ben came in the next day after setting an appointment for some solar installation. It turns out that our job was much smaller than expected. The work team was professional, speedy and efficient. They went the extra mile. Even took the dogs for a walk when I was unable to do so. I got more for my money than simply the installation of a solar system read more

Absolutely fantastic experience with Day One Solar! I went out to bid with three local solar companies and Day One Solar was the winner. They analyzed our PG&E usage, explained different solar options and listened to what we wanted. They came back with a detailed proposal including a concept drawing of the roof with solar modules. Throughout the whole process they were easy to get along with, knowledgeable, and non-pushy. The install crew wasn't farmed out, they took their time to do things right, like running conduit through the attic instead of the lazy way of running it over the roof. Very impressive. Please tell your family and friends about Day One Solar. You'll be happy like me! read more

We got quotes from FOUR solar companies and decided to go with Day One. They were so easy to work with and very communicative. They have a very professional installation team, and the whole process from signing the contract to getting PG&E to start our net metering agreement was faster than anyone estimated: less than a month despite the installation happening during the Christmas holiday. We are very happy with our decision to go with Day One and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. read more

I had a great experience with Day One Solar. All I needed was a new inverter. Day One came out to my house and had a new inverter installed in an hour. Besides the install, they went over how to set up the wifi app, inspected all the panels, inspected outlets, explained the fuse box, and showed me how to properly clean the panels. Day One was easy to communicate with, friendly, and professional. It feels great to be making energy again! Thanks Day One! read more

We researched three solar companies before choosing Day One. They came highly recommended from a friend working for a Solar Edge, a top solar inverter company. From our first introductory meeting to assess our needs it was clear that this company was knowledgeable and professional. All phases of the project went smoothly, planning through inspection. Installation took three days and the communication with the installers was excellent. The placement of panel on a roof is not a " one plan fits all " proposition. We didn't want the panels to be the first thing you noticed when you looked at our home. The solution was clever. During the installation, If there was a question they got the answer before proceeding. Day One facilitated work with PGE and Solar Edge (inverter). We flipped the switch once the PGE process was complete and everything works! We recommend Day One Solar without reservation. read more

I sincerely can't say enough about Day One Solar. They are responsive, professional and extremely knowledgable about their trade. I originally contacted Day One Solar based on a recommendation from SolarEdge, the manufacturer of my residential solar system. The first service call involved investigating a fault error with my 4-year old SolarEdge 6000 inverter. They quickly identified that it wasn't something they could remedy on site and recommended that I to submit a case with SolarEdge. After receiving a replacement Inverter from SolarEdge, I engaged Day One Solar to de-install the defective unit and install the new replacement unit. Not only did they proficiently complete the job they were hired to do, they also identified several other issues with the original installation done by another company. This included fixing connections to several non-operating PV panels, rewiring the shut-off switch for safety reasons, and putting a safety lock on the switch box to prevent my kids from accidentally opening and potentially electrocuting themselves. They also ran CAT5 cable to my new SolarEdge Inverter since the original installation company didn't network the system. After successfully running the system for several months following the inverter replacement, the system shut down again due to another/different error. Of course Day One Solar was quick to respond and paid me a service call to investigate. They had the system operating again within an hour. I highly recommend Day One Solar based on my experience from start to finish. Their entire staff is courteous and professional, including their front office staff and field service technicians. I plan to use Day One Solar in future to upgrade my system and add a backup power storage system. read more
