(There was street construction) Room quirks: small fridge, weird bathroom layout (toilet opposite sink, lefties beware). Food options within walking distance are limited. This review is for the Swell building…read more COVID-19 ruined our annual Hawai'i trip...WAAAAAAHHHHH!!! Since hubby and I had time off, we decided to do something a little bit local, but far enough to feel like we were away from Orange County. So, we traveled south to Carlsbad. We packed up the kids and headed to the 2 bed 2 bath Wave unit in the Swell building. We were fortunate to be given early check in. Self check in was a breeze with the emailed instructions. Super cool feature: ELECTRONIC LOCKS! I felt like I was using The Force every time I waved my hand in front of the lock. There is a shed full of beach chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, a couple of soft top surfboards, umbrellas, and I think some canopies. Barbecues have dedicated gas lines. Oh, there's a game room! We got my son off the electronics long enough for a spirited game of foosball...the game room also includes Ms Pacman, an old school pinball machine and shuffleboard. There is also an outdoor shower with HOT WATER that my surfer dude relished. Speaking of hot water...on day 2, hubby went out for dawn patrol. When he came back from his early AM surf, he was looking forward to a hot shower. Our shower would not heat up! The other shower and every faucet in the unit ran hot water, but for some reason, our bathroom shower did not. I texted property management, they promptly replied, came in an hour to verify my findings, and sent a plumber to make repairs. Thank goodness for the in-unit washer and dryer. I threw in a beach towel in the dryer to defrost my hubsicle. Great management, awesome property. We hope to check out their other rentals! We appreciate the amenities and know we'll be taken care of should the need arise.

I'm staying in a two bedroom that's very spacious. We have a family of four and it's perfect. Two bedroom and two baths. This is a boutique feel, the staff is incredible. They have beach towels, toys, chairs and umbrellas to make your beach day perfection. The rooms are completely remodeled with a modern, beachy feel. The beds are comfortable with fluffy pillows and white comforters. I'm here in the peak season and it's around $7k for a week. I personally think it's worth paying more to be right on the beach. It's absolutely heaven to wake up to the sounds of the ocean and see the sunset on the water every night. Also, it's dog friendly!

Parking spots the unit has a designated one (1) to two (2) spaces available depending on the rental unit. Laundry Rooms in each building are available at any time. There are plenty of washers and dryers in each laundry room. The units can be booked through several websites, I highly recommend MakeMyVacation.com. Majority of units are equipped every you need to cook, work from home and to make your vacation pleasant. There are BBQ areas to cook outdoors are clean and maintained daily. Free WI-Fi no additional charges like other places and hotels is a charge per day. MakeMyVacation.com vacation management is outstanding you will be so glad you booked with them. After 21 years, coming back here is pretty safe, quiet at night and majority of guests adheres to the rules and regulations. By the way, the Home Owners Association (HOA) is not your primary source of contact. If you have questions, concerns or any else you need to contact the rental management company. Cons - unfortunately there are some guests like anywhere else will make your vacation experience not so pleasant at times. Why you may ask? Some parents do not supervise their children; However, call the NCV patrol will gladly will take care of any situation. Some guests have written bad feedback is because do not like NCV rules and regulations, they don't want to adhere to it. The Golden Rule it is common sense to treat everyone with respect, courtesy and basic manners. For all the reasons above if you plan a vacation to Southern California consider to stay in the City of Oceanside, highly recommend to book a rental at NCV.

However, since I'm here on my day pass, I don't have use of the kitchen and I don't feel like showing up with a bunch of stuff to barbecue. Anyway, there is plenty of seating at the adult pool, offering tables, chairs, and loungers. In the north west corner of the pool area is a semi private space with a table, an umbrella, and some loungers. It's a nice place to gather with friends. The pool here is always very clean. The temperature is good in the pool and in the Jacuzzi. I feel fortunate to be a part of this timeshare. The timeshare was purchased by Hilton so I think anybody can stay here if rooms are available.
