This place is fantastic! We went there to get my son his first betta fish and they were unbelievably helpful. They have a great selection and the staff are so knowledgeable. PLEASE go here instead of the big box chains for your fish! read more

The staff are extremely knowledgeable! They listened to us and gave us pointers on our current fish tank. They were reassuring and walked us through things that will work. They gave me some things on the house to help with my live plants floating and helped us find the right snail for our tank! read more

The owner and his employees are incredibly knowledgeable regarding aquarium fish! You may pay some more compared to the "Big Box" stores but you probably save in the long run due to their knowledge in keeping your fish alive! read more

Recently visited this store and bought fish food and fish. The fish had ick which contaminated my aquarium and killed 3/4 of our fish. The food was over a year past it's expiration date. Not a good experience. read more

Sea Level deserves the highest rating, if I could go higher than 5 I would. I have been a customer for years, if not decades and will continue to be. I recently had a distressed Betta Fish after a gravel vacuum and called and spoke with a gentleman (John? Didn't get the name, which I should have) I explained what happened and he was so kind and patient, gave great advise and the same evening Star the Betta was acting a bit normal, and the next morning was back to her normal active self. In today's times customer service like that should not go unmentioned and should be commended. Thank you, Sea Level! read more

This place is great and the knowledge that these guys have is off the charts! I got a new aquarium and have had some bumps in the road but with each problem they have talked me through it. This has become such a fun hobby for me. I really appreciate how they will always take time to answer my questions, even when they are really busy. They have showed me the new world of live plants, I have begun using reverse osmosis water, and I am buying fish I never thought I could keep alive!!! read more

I let my kids play that old carnival game where you win a fish. And then I searched for pet stores near where we were going to be because those fish needed medicine. (Goldfish get ich disease.) The nice young men at Sea Level sold me some medicine, a bubbler for our mini tank, and some fun accessories. Despite being rather large, there's nothing big box about this store. It feels like a place that they really know and love fish. read more

Best aquarium store in the twin cities, the owner is such a kind person and is always willing to help you out or answer any question you have! I highly recommend this place for sure! read more

Saltwater and fresh. Frags and more. Knowledgeable staff. Fair price. The owner is a hard worker and is happy to help you order something specific online. Quality product, and quality advice. I used to go here as a kid, years later it has matured and has everything I need for my reef tank. read more

I have visited many tropical fish stores (world of fish, aqua land, wet world) this is the best one. Great prices on everything including the fish. He is so helpful and patient and nonjudgmental and knows his stuff. The place has everything you need at good prices. read more

Nice store even if you just want to look at a lot of different sea creatures. Staff has always been helpful to me when I visited. These guys are not just selling like at a pet store or Walmart. They are aquarium enthusiasts read more

John has always been available to answer my questions. Like why do my gold fish prefer RO water when my angel fish were ok with city or spring water. The difference is the minerals and where the fish come from - river or pond/lake. I love this store!! Oh yes, repair or used parts saving me lots of money!!! read more

We've been shopping at Sea Level for over 15 years. We have loved the service/supplies/equipment we get from John. We are currently downsizing and have 8 tanks (1-220 gal, 2-180 gal, 1-120 gal & 4-55s) all purchased from John - some new & some used. So you can see we love our fish and working with John. He is always sharing information to help us be better fish people. He is as good as it gets in the fish world. I refer all new fish people to John because good information at the start is critical. I live about 15 miles from this store, but I will travel the distance to buy fish here. I have a 55 gallon aquarium and I have bought most of my supplies here. They are very knowlegable about aquariums, fish and the like. What should and shouldn't be in the aquarium together. Freshwater and Salt water fish are sold here, as well as aquariums, lights and all your supplies. I have only had one mishap and bought a couple fish from an employee i didn't know, and took home a couple fish that should NOT have been with my other fish. But the owner made good, and let me return them and get something else. This is a good place to trade up or take your overgrown fish to. Buy your fish here, you will be glad you did! The owner John, really knows his business!! read more

Great fish store - super helpful staff, good range of fish and accessories. We've been running a tank for a year successfully now thanks to their good advice about the nitrogen cycle, happy tankmates, and live plants. Highly recommend. read more

I'm looking for info to set up a new saltwater aquarium. I had just had a very bad experience with the shop in Crystal, so I was very impressed with the helpfulness and great service from the guy at this store. The tanks and fish looked great. They had very reasonable prices. One thing that really impressed me was the used equipment they had for sale. You can get the equipment you need and not have to break the bank to get it. I will gladly drive past the store in Crystal to go here again. read more

I can't say enough about Sea Level... I have had tanks ranging from salt to fresh water, ten gallon to 150 gallon. I am by no means an expert at it and I don't claim to be. What I can claim is that John, the gentleman that runs this joint, really knows his stuff about aquarium life and livestock. His heart is in it, he is very knowledgeable and I can tell that he loves what he does. I always feel comfortable when I am at the shop, as well as when I get home. I appreciate and respect his knowledge and don't ever feel as though I came home with a bunch of junk that I overpaid for or that I don't need. He special ordered some equipment that my brother needed for his 150 gallon. He lives in Costa Rica. My bro was very pleased and impressed with the service received here as well. I went to the shop with some equipment recently for a piddly little ten gallon tank. John helped me choose live plants, a circulation pump and all the necessities I needed to start it up right. He even swapped out my old light fixture for a new one, for a very fair price. The little guy looks really great! I am so appreciative that I have a place that I can go to where I'm treated as an enthusiast, rather than just a customer!!! I'll be back again and again, Thank you Sea Level!!!! read more

My 2nd aquatic retailer that I visited in area. This place is old but well kept kind of reminds me of a place that I purchased from in North Hollywood CA. The fish I have found are more expensive in MN ...do to location. I am a former Discus breeder and the Discus here and at the other establishment are pricey based on size. I did purchase some gravel @ $. 50 cents a lb. (Good deal) and thier plant prices are very good...I'll be back. They also sell used tanks and filtration units. read more

I recently set up my first aquarium and the wonderful people at Sea Level helped me get set up every step of the way. Even when I had dumb questions or way too many questions, they would answer them without getting huffy. John is amazing and he knows his stuff! When I have had a problem, he has the answer and the solution. I highly recommend Sea Level for anyone who has an interest in keeping fish. I am currently setting up an aquarium at home and am eager to choose my fish! Seriously, if I can learn how to keep fish, ANYONE can! read more

A great fish store for people who know what they're looking for. Employees were very knowledgeable about the fish that they had. Very helpful with every question we had. Fish are being kept with care and the tanks are well maintained. May seemed cramped for some people but I would describe it as more homie. Would recommend it for people who live in the area. read more

This place is hands down the best fish store in this area. The staff know everything you'll need to know as a beginner or experienced! The owner, John, is dedicated and very nice! Used equipment galore. Their tanks are impeccable. Fun to visit even if you aren't a fish keeper! read more

Love this store. The entire staff is very knowlegable about any fish you could imagine. They have always know any answer to my questions. They have a decent slection of fish and will order whatver you want into the store. They will buy your used equipment and give you store credit for the stuff. On the other side of it they have a great selection of used stuff. I will only go to this store from now on for my equipment purchases. I have bought several fish from them as well and never had any issues. All in all I would definetly recommend this store to anyone. read more

This place was really awesome and the staff were super helpful and friendly. It was a fairly busy day (a couple days before xmas) and I had a few questions and whoever was helping me really took the time to answer any questions I had, even though you could tell he was really busy. I ended up with a lot of good information a new fish to add to my tank!! read more

This was one of the first fish stores I went to when I moved to the Minneapolis area. John (the owner I believe) was very helpful in getting me the supplies I needed to keep my fish alive and healthy while we waited for our tanks to arrive on the moving truck, and was very helpful in getting me the things I needed to set up my tanks once they arrived. John is also very knowledgeable about things like water in the area, water quality, and all the things you may need to know to keep your fish healthy. It is because of this that I prefer this store to many of the others in the area. I feel there is a more personal touch here. While this store doesn't have the largest selection to choose from, the stock is healthy and the tanks are well kept. Everything I've bought has thrived. Good food and decoration selection as well. read more

First and for most I have never felt like I was so important to a sales rep before. As soon as I walk in the door I am treated like I actually matter and I am not just a sale. The customer service is the best that I could ask for. I am new into the fish world and starting up a freshwater tank was made so easy because of John and all the knowledge he has passed on to me. He is always willing to work with me no matter how simple my questions may be. I have tried other fish stores in the area but none come close to the experience I have each time I come here. I would recommend Sea Level to anyone and everyone that is looking for a great fish store! read more
