My daughter and a friend have been talking aBour this place for a few years. With my adamant…read morestance of "no pets!!!" the last three years, I hadn't stepped foot in this place because, well, I didn't need the temptation. And then we moved and happened to have a chintzy plastic betta fish tank that happened to appear when unpacking. Seed planted. So we spend an evening checking out if you pet shops in looking at betta's . Bought one for said chintzy fish tank for my 3 year old to have a fish and that set the ball rolling. I wanted my own fish too. But as selective as I am, just any ok' pretty betta wouldn't do. So in I went to this locall aquatic store with no idea what I'd find. My first thought?? This store looks kinda sketchy. And it does not smell pretty. It would be equivalent to a dive bar of the aquatic world. No-frills kind of store. Bare cement. No fancy bright decorations to be found. Just rows and rows of stacked fish tanks, piles of rocks, aquatic plants (that were actually IN tanks of water) and lots of special tree pieces make for aquariums. But the staff...they are AMAZING!! I mean, come on, I came in for a betta fish. Not really a high dollar sale for them. But they www really above and beyond sweet, helpful and not only answered all my uneducated betta fish questions but the guy Andy (I'm guessing the owner??) even told me some tips on how I can do this gorgeous betta tank thing even more economical and actually showed me how he cleans the filter on hIs pump instead of buying new filters! I left with a tall 2 gallon square aquarium (it was even on sale!!) and a chunk of wood that he gave me an idea of trimming it down to make a tree from to fit my pretty little tall square glass aquarium. Oh, and a live moss ball plant for my 3 year olds betta fish to play with. He told me exactly what to do with that chunk of wood over this next week (put it in hot water and soak it for a week) to prepare it for my tank so that when they find the perfect fish for me, it would be ready. (Well, I'm going back next week to buy little plants to the wood to make it look like an actual tree- his idea that he walked me thru on how to pull it off!) Yep, that's right, I didn't even leave with a fish. They were willing to search for just the right platinum white half moon rosetail betta for me. And even agreed to send me videos of the ones they find before I decide one it!!! I have never in my life experienced such AMAZING customer service!! These people are SO awesome!!! And by the way, they do have some pretty cool fish you would NEVVVER find at Petco too. (Hello stingray and piranha.)

Not only is this store located in a very pretty and interesting building, it was very bright, open and full of fully landscaped aquariums with plants & fish everywhere. As soon as me and my friends walked in we were approached by an employee immediately. My friends went to look around and I asked a few questions. The employee gave me a lot of good answers as well as recommendations and items that might interest me in the store. The store is extremely well stocked, with items I've only been able to find online before. Me and my friends had a ton of fun looking at the tanks around the store and I good some great inspiration looking around. I got a few items including a snail trap (another item I've only seen online!) and the cashier was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the shop. The store below even had an enormous reef tank installed and maintained by the store employees. It is always a wonderful experience coming to a store where everyone is so passionate about their craft, and I can't wait to come back

I love this place!…read more You know how your kid bugs you for a fish tank and promises to take care of it only to lose interest as soon as the first pair of guppies dies? Well, that was me over 50 years ago except I never lost interest. I've been keeping fish and visiting fish stores around the country for my entire life. The people from World Of Fish who started RiverShore Aquariums have done a great job. Located not far from the original World of Fish, RiverShore has clean tanks, friendly and knowledgeable staff and they are super keyed in on planted tank setups. These days my tanks are relatively simple just to keep things easy, rocks and driftwood mostly, but I've been wanting to do a planted tank for a while. I know the basics but had some questions on substrate, plant selection and lighting for what is basically going to be a freshwater nanotank. The staff person who helped me was super knowledgeable, answered my questions and gave me some good advice for getting started. They had a good selection of different kinds of gravel as well as an assortment of driftwood and rocks. I liked that they have a table where you can do a little aquascaping trial and error before you make a final selection. The fish were high quality and appeared healthy. Most were smaller species suitable for planted tanks. I even discovered a new species that I had never heard of - anchor catfish. Super cool and perfect for my little nanotank. I know enough about fish and have been to enough fish stores to know which ones are really good. Rivershore is at the top of the list if you live in the Twin Cities, and especially if you're interested in giving planted tanks a try. Even if its plants aren't your thing or you are new to the hobby, I'd checkout Rivershore for your first aquarium.

I get a phone call saying my dog has a small cut on her head and that everything's fine. I go pick her up and find a large laceration on her head and once I got home I found a puncture wound on her side that my vet confirmed went down to the muscle tissue. The Dogtopia manager told me that she did not clean the wounds she used a non-antibacterial non-scented baby wipe and applied ointment. This is going to trap bacteria in and a wound this deep can easily get infected especially in an environment with lots of dogs. Their staff "doesn't know what happened". They will not share any of the surveillance footage. They only offered to pay the vet bill once I threatened to take legal action if they didn't. I have worked at dog daycare's prior and we had never sent a dog home with injuries like that and no idea how they happened and no explanation. They tried to tell me that she hit her head at first and it was a small cut and upon inspecting her it is a large laceration all the way through the skin and I discovered the puncture wound because she was licking it once she got home and that goes down to the muscle. It blows my mind that they downplay it so much and will not share their surveillance video. They are clearly not watching them/keeping rooms under control. I would never feel comfortable allowing them to watch my dog ever again, they are not taking safety as a priority. If you're understaffed you need to stop taking in dogs at a certain point so that staff members can actually maintain a supervised and controlled environment. My vet said either staples or stitches so I went with staples because they are a little over $300 versus $900 for stitches. It took me threatening my legal team reaching out to them for them to even refund the cost of a half-day charge when she was there for two hours before I picked her up because of injury. I had to push even more to get them to pay the vet bill eventually. The only reason I had my dog there is because I was hit by an SUV and was physically unable to take my dog to burn energy as she is just over one year old. So now not only am I trying to heal my broken wrist and fractured knee, but I am also tending to the staples on her head and her ribs, antibiotics, pain medication, and anxiety medication. My dog is so playful and sweet, absolutely loves people and absolutely loves other dogs. It's going to absolutely crush me if I see her confidence or friendliness extinguished in any way from this experience. Update in regards to their reply: they have my email address have not sent me any solid explanation as to what happened still. I have so many doctors appointments, phone calls with my lawyer, and I am trying to rest ice and elevate myself and now take care of my dog on top of all that. I don't have the time to sit on the phone with you while you tell me that you don't have an explanation, in different words nine times over. Reply to my email when you figure it out and if you can't figure out what happened, shame on you. You shouldn't be running a dog care business.
