I really appreciate that they require proof of fecal and vaccinations in their effort to provide the most healthy stay possible for the animals being boarded their. One of our dogs is on a boatload of very critical medications for pain relief and inflammation for a very bad back problem that surgery did not correct. The staff there are very conscientious about giving meds and making sure that food is offered in the correct amount. This last stay the staff kept in close touch with me because one of our pups decided not to eat very well. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate their communication with me about my dog's welfare while staying at the kennel. I also love that they have a variety of different kinds of kennels (if you can call them that!). My dogs stay in a suite with a bed, couch, TV and classical music to help calm them. Just fabulous!! I love getting the photo updates and the reports on how they are doing while I am away. I appreciate that, depending on your dog, they can participate in group play or have playtime all to themselves if they aren't a big fan of party time. (My dogs don't play well with others! LOL). The Resort offers activities such as brain games to help the dogs pass the time. My dogs love it! Each time I have picked up my dogs they are happy, clean, and healthy. Staff there are friendly and seem to care about the dogs left in their care. Expect to pay more for this level of service! And don't complain about the cost! Dogs are family. It's worth every penny to know my dogs are being loved on, cared for and pampered while I am away.

Our newly rescued Pomeranian spent 3 days at Como Park being treated for persistent pneumonia. We…read morewere blown away by the quality of care and the personal investment of each and everyone at Como Park Animal Hospital in bringing our dog back to life. We called at 3:45am on Good Friday and the hospital was too full to accept our pet (holidays, it seems, are often busy at the hospital). On the following day I called again, and my pet was admitted into the hospital for three days. He received dedicated, careful care, which explains why this policy of not over-admitting is so important. As soon as we came to the hospital on the weekend, our dog was taken back for triage. While he was being treated in the ICU, a technician came to talk over our Pom's case. He was just rescued, and his pneumonia was being treated for 9 days already without success. Our dog was hospitalized for 3 days. During this time, he was treated by four vets, all of whom were exceptional, though our favorite vet will always be Dr. Reis. She was invested 100% in brining our dog back to life. Together we created a treatment plan, with Dr. Reis always listening to my concerns and giving the best advice. I felt like I had a knowable partner in a difficult situation. Thank you, Dr. Reis!!! We were welcomed to visit our dog during his hospital stay whenever we wanted. We came 3 times a day, morning, noon and night, and we were always shown to a private comfortable room for a long, long visit. We brought food from home, which our dog was given by the staff during his stay. We also fed him during our visits. We called every day for updates on our dog between our visits, and each time the technician we spoke with was so kind, so loving to our dog and so helpful in providing us with all the information we required, including going over treatment plans daily. At last, the cost for our dog's stay was far less than we feared. Though we had asked that no cost be spared during treatment, in the the end the final bill was moderate. Thank you so much! This little dog is our family's Christmas present, and we are very grateful to Como Park Animal Hospital for giving him a chance to survive a cruel life of abuse prior to his rescue. Now, we have a chance to build a happy life together. Thank you!

I recently had to euthanize my dog Clarabelle of 16 years. She had lived a long and healthy life…read moreand that was in part of the excellent care she received from Hudson Road Animal Hospital. On the day we sent Clarabelle to the after life, Hudson Road staff could not have been more compassionate, caring and respectful to Clarabelle and our family. The minute we walked in the clinic they placed us in a room with low lighting, soft music and a comfortable blanket on the ground. We were informed about every aspect of the procedure and many times we were asked if we needed more time before each step of the procedure was completed. Clarabelle was given a sedative and we all had time to say our goodbye's before it started to take effect. The Vet Techs came in a few minutes later and started the IV and a few minutes later the Veterinarian came in and sat on the blanket with Clarabelle and gave her the final injection. It did not take long and Clarabelle was not with us any more. The Vet walked us through how the respiratory system is shutting down and we might see some agonal breathing. As we left the room the Veterinarian stayed with Clarabelle until we all left. Thank you to all the staff at Hudson Road Animal Hospital for the care you give our pets while they are alive and the compassion and care you give in death.

It was a traumatizing disappointment to say the least, for both me and my dog Molly. When we arrived for our appointment for a nail trim, Molly was rushed onto a raised platform for the trim. The owners didn't even talk to her or greet her or ask for her name, no treats, nothing to calm her down. When I booked the appointment I didn't realize that they were going to have me be involved, as with past pet grooming places the professionals handle the entire operation and then let you know when it's done. While I was helping to hold her down, she was shrieking in terror as the owner cut her nails. Molly literally screamed out about 3-4 times, it was awful to watch. Past places like PetSmart trimmed and buffed the nails and then gave Molly treats for doing a great job. Shear Elegance only trimmed the nails and sent her on her way, no treat. The plus side was that it only cost $5 but be warned that they only accept cash and don't accept credit cards or any other form of payment. Molly couldn't wait to get out of there... after I paid she was pulling me out the door terrified with her tail between her legs. I really had high expectations based on the reviews and really like to support local businesses, but I think I'll stick to PetSmart where they will clean her ears, trim and buff her nails, and give her treats to calm her down for $20. I'm hoping this experience won't scare her going forward for future nail appointments.
