Como Park Animal Hospital - Being treated with steam for pneumonia, the day after leaving the hospital.

This place is more than a gem, it's necessary for peace of mind. As the owner of an exotic pet, I…read morehave unfortunately had to use Como Park's 24 hour emergency service more than once. They are responsive to phone calls, emails and are incredible kind to stressed out pet parents. They moved to a new location a bit over a year ago, which now has a much nicer waiting area. After our emergency visit, I got a follow up call checking on our pet and asking if there were any questions or concerns. Truly an indispensable service with kind and knowledgeable staff. I am so relieved they exist!!!

Our newly rescued Pomeranian spent 3 days at Como Park being treated for persistent pneumonia. We…read morewere blown away by the quality of care and the personal investment of each and everyone at Como Park Animal Hospital in bringing our dog back to life. We called at 3:45am on Good Friday and the hospital was too full to accept our pet (holidays, it seems, are often busy at the hospital). On the following day I called again, and my pet was admitted into the hospital for three days. He received dedicated, careful care, which explains why this policy of not over-admitting is so important. As soon as we came to the hospital on the weekend, our dog was taken back for triage. While he was being treated in the ICU, a technician came to talk over our Pom's case. He was just rescued, and his pneumonia was being treated for 9 days already without success. Our dog was hospitalized for 3 days. During this time, he was treated by four vets, all of whom were exceptional, though our favorite vet will always be Dr. Reis. She was invested 100% in brining our dog back to life. Together we created a treatment plan, with Dr. Reis always listening to my concerns and giving the best advice. I felt like I had a knowable partner in a difficult situation. Thank you, Dr. Reis!!! We were welcomed to visit our dog during his hospital stay whenever we wanted. We came 3 times a day, morning, noon and night, and we were always shown to a private comfortable room for a long, long visit. We brought food from home, which our dog was given by the staff during his stay. We also fed him during our visits. We called every day for updates on our dog between our visits, and each time the technician we spoke with was so kind, so loving to our dog and so helpful in providing us with all the information we required, including going over treatment plans daily. At last, the cost for our dog's stay was far less than we feared. Though we had asked that no cost be spared during treatment, in the the end the final bill was moderate. Thank you so much! This little dog is our family's Christmas present, and we are very grateful to Como Park Animal Hospital for giving him a chance to survive a cruel life of abuse prior to his rescue. Now, we have a chance to build a happy life together. Thank you!

I no longer live in Minnesota, but my parents still do and still take their cats here. I grew up…read morewith cats, and every single one of my cats since the 1980s went here. Of the cats that have passed on, 3 of the 4 lived to be 18 years old or older. I have been to many a vet visit here with my mom to bring our cats here. When my first cat got cancer when she was 18 (and I was 8), They treated Wolf with respect and care as we gave her fluids in the upcoming month before my family had to make the difficult decision to relieve Wolf of her suffering. They took good care of Wolf from the time my mom started bringing her to them until her very last breath. I remember when we brought Wolf in for that, and I remember the staff was very sympathetic and let us have a private moment with wolf, and gave us time to sing her one last song and cry a little. When I was 9, we got Eric and Shelly, and they got all their kitten shots and were spayed and neutered there. Anytime they had any illnesses, we brought them in and they were taken care of. When Eric's best cat friend (Tess, who had purebred related illness) passed away when he was 17, Eric was really depressed, and shortly after he started losing a ton of weight. We brought him in and we were told he had kidney disease. Hudson Road Animal Hospital helped us treat Eric, and he ended up living another year and a half, before he quietly, and peacefully passed away during a nap in our home (though I was no longer living at home). Shelly was one of my favorite cats we ever had. She was the same age as Eric, but outlived him. Shelly barely ever had any health problems, in the Spring of 2015, she was also diagnosed with kidney disease. She was losing weight fast, and honestly, her test results were such that she shouldn't have lived maybe more than a month longer. My mom took Shelly in weekly for fluids and medicine for months. And Shelly miraculously got better. She was alive long enough that I was able to come home and see Shelly in person one more time in July. This September, sweet little Shelly had a stroke and started to lose mobility day-by-day. We brought her into Hudson Road Animal Hospital and they gave us that diagnosis. Even though they knew Shelly wouldn't live much longer, they took such good care of her during that visit, and were so understanding and sympathetic to my mom. Shelly passed away the next day in my parents home at the age of 20. The animal clinic sent us a sympathy card and even had paw prints of little Shelly taken before we had her cremated for us to keep. I loved all my childhood pets, and I wouldn't have trusted anyone else to care for them, and neither would my parents. I have so many childhood memories visiting this place to take my pets to the vet, and I know how well they treated my furry family members. My mom who has said the doctors here care more about the animals than most human doctors care about their human patients. While I no longer live in Minnesota with my parents, they recently got two new kittens since Shelly's passing, and I was lucky enough to take them to a grooming visit over Christmas. The staff is still wonderful and caring, and during the grooming visit, they made the cutest Christmas cards from the kittens with a paw print from each kitten on their own card. Thank you for taking care of our many cats over the years. Many of our cats were my best friends growing up and I appreciate that they had such good doctors.
