This shop has been around forever! I use to come here as a kid after dance classes I took across the street nothing has changed and I love it! I came here with my kids just to let them see the fish. There isn't much of a parking lot here, so I wouldn't recommend parking in it, it's very tough to get in and out of. Street parking is available. Very impressed with the selection of fish in the space. I had no idea they cost so much! Lots to look at. we felt welcomed in the space. Parking here is tough, like really tough. A handful of spots in the lot and barely any room to exit. On a winter's day, it's even worse with snow around. Aside from that, the store itself is great. Tons of fish and aquariums, and the related items that go along with fishkeeping. Lots of helpful staff running around. The fish are competitively priced, and really I would rather pay a little more for better quality than some diseased fish from a big box store. Will definitely be back to get some more fish, but probably once it's a little warmer out, to not have to deal with the headache of a parking lot. read more

You can spend hours at this store in fascination and awe and still have no idea where to start. I have not seen a wider variety of fish anywhere else as here! A lot of aquarium stores have a lot of the well known fish we have all seen and came across before but not a lot of unique things such as floating plants, specific shrimp etc but this place has it all! Support this business!! I came here to buy my first fish and just set up a basic fish tank with no filtration system. I am not looking to create an aquarium at this moment, but if I was, the selection at this store is great! I have to emphasize that the staff members were extremely nice and super helpful!! The store was busy and near closing time when I visited. I was asking a bunch of questions about setting up my tank and fish care generally (because I am determined to not kill my first fish haha). The staff did not rush me at all and answered all of my questions - even the ridiculous ones. This is also just a fun store to pop into because they have turtles too and so many fun fish to look at. I went here on a Friday and it was a fun way to begin my weekend. The prices of the fish and supplies are also very fair. I paid about $10 for my Siamese Fighting Fish. All the creatures at the store seem to be well cared for, and the store was organized, neat, and clean. If I decide to build something more elaborate than just a simple fish tank, like a small aquarium - I will certainly be coming here. You can also come in at any time and they will give you a container of aged water. I was told this is useful for maintaining healthy water for your fish and also useful for when you clean the tank and give "new" water - the aged water helps reduce shocking the fish due to the change in environment. Wanted to like this place as its in the neighborhood and the selection does seem good. But honestly, don't believe their website, their staff was anything but friendly or helpful. Walked in and told them what i was looking for, and was oddly treated as if i was a nuisance. It was as if they didnt want me to buy anything. My presence and questions for some odd reason were not welcome, right away. I recommend the fish store down a bit in Richfield, staff was infinitely more helpful and accommodating. read more

Aqualand? Can it be the same Aqualand from my youth? I worked part-time with my Dad in high school. That long ago? A neighbor set me up with my first aquarium, plastic with scratched glass. It got me started! When I worked with my Dad and he was amenable to stopping on the way home, where I could try different fish. I started getting into the hobby. Magazines helped me along. I've been sloughing the past years, but now I'm finding a new interest in fish keeping. Aqualand? Always been there for many years. Love to have them around. My family and I have been shopping here for almost 8 years for aquarium supplies/fish and I've never had a problem with the white owners. The customer service was always great. I always grab a fish food/plant supplement, hold the item in my hand, and browse around for potential new fish. Never had a problem. However, today the owners were not present. There was an older black man and a young cashier. I did not catch their names. I had no problem with the cashier, but the black employee was incredibly rude. I had grabbed a small bottle of plant nutrients that I was going to buy, held the bottle in front me with both hands, and was looking at some female guppies I was going to buy. He basically told me "Not to be rude, but you need to put that item at the counter." The item I was holding was a small bottle of plant nutrients. There was a white family holding a bottle of fish food and other products next to me. He did not ask them to put their stuff on the counter. Basically, I said "okay," put the plant food on the counter next to the cashier, tried browsing for fish, and eventually left the store after waiting if the black guy would tell the white family to put their products on the counter too. He didn't for obvious reasons... My family and I have shopped here for over 8 years and we've never been asked to put items at the counter before browsing the store again. This wasn't an overly large or expensive small item. This was freakin' plant food. C'mon, dude. My family and I are never coming here again. I will not recommend this place to anybody anymore. read more

I have been to many tropical fish stores (wet world, world of fish, sea level) this ones okay. They have a ton of fish at okay prices - that being said they didn't have the pea puffers or kuhli loaches I was looking for which oh well. The only negative really were the employees. Both guys I've talked to are quite know it alls and very judgmental. Yes they know their stuff but they just don't come off as nice helpful people that I feel I can ask any question and not feel dumb for asking which is important to me as I'm a beginner in the fish world. read more

Nice spot with an incredible assortment of fish and supplies. Nice tank displays throughout store. Fish prices seem to be average to the area although I checked out the Discus prices which are lower than the other locations I have visited. Fresh and Salt water fish are well kept and fish are healthy. The only minus is parking ...minimal and tight. read more

This place has such a wide variety of fish they should charge admission!!! They also test your aquarium water for free, saving you money on those expensive test kits. Their prices are not as high as Petco but they obviously cant compete with Walmart. However, their almost endless selection of aquarium products (underwater decorations, aquarium plants, special foods, stabilization products....or yeah and more fish and other aquatic life than you can imagine) crushes the competition. I would like to mention, in order not to sound like a commercial for this place, that the two employees I've met so far are sometimes hard to read and can be condescending if they perceive you to be an amateur aquarist. This is a wonderful store. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful no matter whether you're buying your first guppy, or you're a master aquarist. They have a broad selection of aquatic animals and plants, and they care for them very well. This also means it's a great place to browse and spend time chatting with the personnel. The only negative criticism I have is that some parts of the store are poorly lit. I'd give a full 5 stars if there was even, brighter light throughout. read more

I've been contacted by Aqualand, and, to their credit, they seem to be regretful and want to make up for things. I'm not sure they get why I was pissed. I had a dead fish heater in a tank that was registering 68 degrees F. My cichlids like it at about 80 degrees F. After my second-to-last fish heater died from Aqualand, I complained vehemently, and I was promised that, if my newest heater ever died, Aqualand would replace it immediately and deal with any warranty or other issues. Well, after my last fish heater died from Aqualand, whoever I talked with on the phone wasn't too inclined to follow through on the promise to provide a new one at the time. I was told to contact manufacturer, Marineland, which really pissed me off. If I have to wait to deal with the manufacturer and the warranty, then I have to buy a stopgap heater. My tank cannot sit at 68 F for long before fish start to die. Perhaps, the guy on the phone didn't know what he was talking about and made a mistake. Anyway, like I said, Aqualand has tried to make nice, and I will give them another shot. They are a locally-run business, and they are just doing their best to make a buck. read more

I asked about an aroywana and he told me they have it on stock bit I asked about the rewritten policy since I've bought one couple of years ago from here and it died based on the way it died on Internet it was from bladder infection. As soon as he heard that he said that I can hear a lot of things on the Internet but want wiling to stay on the phone to listen on how it looked like it died and said he has customers to attend to. He kept saying that so I just said bye! I know you fits don't have that many customers where you have to hang up on me and not tell me what the rewritten policy is especially since it's that expensive of a fish! Been going here for years. Don't buy plants here. Their plants are a ripped off, every plant is 10 dollars even tiny ones. Go to a world of fish for plants. One guy will try to make you buy something but most of the staffs are nice. They do have a good selection of fish though and some cool shrimps like blue velvet, cherry, and sunsets. read more

I have purchased a 45 gallon aquarium and yo-yo loaches and a couple of other fish at this store. The staff is knowledgeable and offers sound advice for acclimating new fish to an existing tank. They have many options for a freshwater tank. I prefer this aquarium store to Petco. The inside is a little dark. read more

We had a positive experience looking for a few small freshwater fish. The service was knowledgeable, prices fair, and they offer a nice selection of freshwater fish. The tropical fish selection was more limited but that's perhaps to be expected? I like that they offer free testing for your aquarium water and they provide their own house brand of water conditioners and fish food. read more

My daughter and I are both avid aquarists. We love going to Aqauland to check out their really cool store and get top notch advice and service regarding our hobby. The fish they sell are very healthy. They double bag most fish purchases, and I have yet to have a fish die that I bought from Aqualand. The plants are similarly well taken care of. The staff recommended several plant species based on our aquarium set ups. All have thrived. BTW, the place is absolutely a treat to just stop by and check out all the tanks and related inhabitants. The turtle and big fish they have rescued are really neat. Finally, I have never had them sell us anything we don't need or would not work in our tanks. Seriously, check this place out! read more

My friend and I went there today as a new addition to our fish supplies route and were blown away at how amazing this gem is. We are both fish enthusiasts and have been around the block a time or two. This place was simply amazing: wonderfully set up, a massive variety of fish, and all of the fish were in top condition. However, the bonus was that we were not talked to as morons. Some fish stores can be quite condescending when people (who know a lot about fish keeping) come in and just want to ask questions or share interests. The staff here was simply a delight and my friend and I were treated almost as colleagues as well as customers. The staff was so polite and so informative. My twin boys are watching their 5th grade science teachers 2 turtles for the summer. Needless to say, it is has been a fun adventure right up until the point when the water filter malfunctioned, twice. On both occasions, we took it to Aqualand for help (assuming we would have to buy a new one) and both times, John (or maybe it was Dave), cleaned and fixed it without any hesitation. In fact, the 2nd time, we called first right before closing and they stayed open to accomodate us.
