A betta that was completely chewed apart by aggressive fish

It's awful. I went there for blackworms for my axolotls, which they don't usually have. I was in there tonight and the owner told me you can feed axolotls pinkies. No you can't! The axolotl would likely die after just one pinkie. He argued with me and said I was wrong. He also told me blood worms are a great staple diet for axolotls. They sell axolotls there, which they haven't had in a while but have confirmed they still intend to. Previously, they sold them in horrible conditions. No hides, warm water, missing limbs, etc. Their last one ended up with a sign saying it has been rescued and was rehabbing. This store is awful in so many ways. They put betas in all of their tanks with aggressive fish who eat them to death. Tonight, they had African clawed frogs in the same tank as African dwarf frogs. Most of the ADFs were laying upside down at the bottom of the tank dead. The owner, Mike, then insisted they can be in the same tank and it wasn't their fault they were dead Half of their tanks, at least, have multiple dead fish in them. The customer service is HORRIBLE! They will sit and completely ignore customers. They talk crap about each other and the shady stuff the business does. I may have to drive farther now for my blackworms, but it's worth it to never give this place my money again

    Dead fish

I used to love this place. It's a nice location with nice employees but it definitely has gone down hill. They charge ridiculous prices (25 bucks for A common guppy) Half the tanks have ick and their is no not for sale sign on them so I'm sure poor customers are bringing ick into their tanks. Plus I spotted about 30 dead decomposing fish in the 10 minutes I was in there.

Mike the owner is very well knowledged and really knows his stuff. There is always a huge variety of fish and accessories to choose from. Love this store.

    Koran (Marty)

Should be renamed, "Ich World". Bought a Koran angelfish from there last Thursday for $100 and he died 4 days later after infecting the rest of my tank with ich. The owner, Michael was kind when I first called and claimed he would "make it right" as long as I brought water and my dead fish in a bag to show him (first red flag). I got there in the afternoon with a sample of my water and a picture of my fish because Marty (Koran angelfish) already had his funeral which was hard enough. Michael (owner) tested my water with his refractometer and made sure to show me. My response, "whaaaaaat?? This isn't my water." Michael, "just kidding I wanted to show you what it should be." He tried to trick me? My salinity was actually 1.021 since I was trying to eradicate the parasite his fish brought into the tank which he claimed was too low due to his profound lack of knowledge of hyposalinity. He also bashed my fish saying I got them from a place that uses copper even though he recommended curpramine (seachem with copper) for treating ich and claimed that's why my other fish were fine. "Were" fine until buying one from his slop. Additionally, he asked, "how did you acclimate the Koran before putting him in your tank??!" with a stupid look on his face like he's the fish god. My response, "drip bucket for 6 hours or so - didn't want put him into shock." Michael (owner), "that was your first mistake! You can't have a fish sitting in a bucket for that long it'll get way to cold." I told him I had a heater in the bucket while also raising my eyebrows and accepting Michael (owner) wasn't going to do anything about it. At that point, my response to Michael (before I knew he owned the place), "do you own this place, what's your name?" "Yes, I own this place my name is Michael." Me, "nice to meet you Michael (handshake), good luck with your business". The girl behind the register smirked (his subordinate) and two other customers left right after me. As a corporate employee myself, I know and trust karma will get him because, "bad ownership/management will kill a business." Unfortunately his business will kill a lot of fish too until he flops on a table like the rest of them. Michael is not someone I would trust with any fish even though his subordinates know everything there is to know about them. GO TO A World of Fish in Richfield (Michael's employees included). TRUST ME. Get out of there and never look back. Smart/kind people know fish too, and good always trumps evil. If you're reading this Michael - remember me as the one who finally stuck up for your customers/employees. Your fantasy refunds may make you think you have us wrapped around your finger, but customers & employees make the business, so like I said to you in person, "good luck." #squealsoffinsportscar

Amazing looking eel definitely worth just watching him/her interact with you.

Not only is this store located in a very pretty and interesting building, it was very bright, open and full of fully landscaped aquariums with plants & fish everywhere. As soon as me and my friends walked in we were approached by an employee immediately. My friends went to look around and I asked a few questions. The employee gave me a lot of good answers as well as recommendations and items that might interest me in the store. The store is extremely well stocked, with items I've only been able to find online before. Me and my friends had a ton of fun looking at the tanks around the store and I good some great inspiration looking around. I got a few items including a snail trap (another item I've only seen online!) and the cashier was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the shop. The store below even had an enormous reef tank installed and maintained by the store employees. It is always a wonderful experience coming to a store where everyone is so passionate about their craft, and I can't wait to come back

I love this place!…read more You know how your kid bugs you for a fish tank and promises to take care of it only to lose interest as soon as the first pair of guppies dies? Well, that was me over 50 years ago except I never lost interest. I've been keeping fish and visiting fish stores around the country for my entire life. The people from World Of Fish who started RiverShore Aquariums have done a great job. Located not far from the original World of Fish, RiverShore has clean tanks, friendly and knowledgeable staff and they are super keyed in on planted tank setups. These days my tanks are relatively simple just to keep things easy, rocks and driftwood mostly, but I've been wanting to do a planted tank for a while. I know the basics but had some questions on substrate, plant selection and lighting for what is basically going to be a freshwater nanotank. The staff person who helped me was super knowledgeable, answered my questions and gave me some good advice for getting started. They had a good selection of different kinds of gravel as well as an assortment of driftwood and rocks. I liked that they have a table where you can do a little aquascaping trial and error before you make a final selection. The fish were high quality and appeared healthy. Most were smaller species suitable for planted tanks. I even discovered a new species that I had never heard of - anchor catfish. Super cool and perfect for my little nanotank. I know enough about fish and have been to enough fish stores to know which ones are really good. Rivershore is at the top of the list if you live in the Twin Cities, and especially if you're interested in giving planted tanks a try. Even if its plants aren't your thing or you are new to the hobby, I'd checkout Rivershore for your first aquarium.

My daughter and a friend have been talking aBour this place for a few years. With my adamant…read morestance of "no pets!!!" the last three years, I hadn't stepped foot in this place because, well, I didn't need the temptation. And then we moved and happened to have a chintzy plastic betta fish tank that happened to appear when unpacking. Seed planted. So we spend an evening checking out if you pet shops in looking at betta's . Bought one for said chintzy fish tank for my 3 year old to have a fish and that set the ball rolling. I wanted my own fish too. But as selective as I am, just any ok' pretty betta wouldn't do. So in I went to this locall aquatic store with no idea what I'd find. My first thought?? This store looks kinda sketchy. And it does not smell pretty. It would be equivalent to a dive bar of the aquatic world. No-frills kind of store. Bare cement. No fancy bright decorations to be found. Just rows and rows of stacked fish tanks, piles of rocks, aquatic plants (that were actually IN tanks of water) and lots of special tree pieces make for aquariums. But the staff...they are AMAZING!! I mean, come on, I came in for a betta fish. Not really a high dollar sale for them. But they www really above and beyond sweet, helpful and not only answered all my uneducated betta fish questions but the guy Andy (I'm guessing the owner??) even told me some tips on how I can do this gorgeous betta tank thing even more economical and actually showed me how he cleans the filter on hIs pump instead of buying new filters! I left with a tall 2 gallon square aquarium (it was even on sale!!) and a chunk of wood that he gave me an idea of trimming it down to make a tree from to fit my pretty little tall square glass aquarium. Oh, and a live moss ball plant for my 3 year olds betta fish to play with. He told me exactly what to do with that chunk of wood over this next week (put it in hot water and soak it for a week) to prepare it for my tank so that when they find the perfect fish for me, it would be ready. (Well, I'm going back next week to buy little plants to the wood to make it look like an actual tree- his idea that he walked me thru on how to pull it off!) Yep, that's right, I didn't even leave with a fish. They were willing to search for just the right platinum white half moon rosetail betta for me. And even agreed to send me videos of the ones they find before I decide one it!!! I have never in my life experienced such AMAZING customer service!! These people are SO awesome!!! And by the way, they do have some pretty cool fish you would NEVVVER find at Petco too. (Hello stingray and piranha.)
