After shopping at Aquatropics for years with no real issues, even recommending people go their since they had a great selection, I must say I will never shop there again. We moved from the Crystal area in 2010 to the Zimmerman area. For obvious reasons I haven't been there in few years because of the drive, but recently my family wanted a couple of Oscars. They had to be a little bigger due to existing fish we had had for over 10 years. So.... I thought of Aquatropics since they usually had bigger fish. With the entire family aboard, we headed for the cities to buy some fish.
I knew something was different as soon as we went in, but did find help and purchased 2 medium size Oscars for $19.99 each. Everything seemed great in tank when we got home and we were pleased that no existing fish were aggressive, etc. for about the next week. That is until the fungal infection killed them all. Within 48 hours of noticing the first white fungal signs on one of the existing fish, all my fish died, even after treating. I have had the same fish in my tank for well over 10 years and grew up with aquariums. The Oscars I purchased from Aquatropics brought a fungal infection that killed all of my fish.
So, other than vent in this review there is nothing to do but start over with our 55 gallon aquarium. I figured when I called they would just blame my water, that was not the case, mostly silence. I was nice, and offered it up as a heads up, not thinking it would go anywhere, which it didn't. He just thanked me and asked if I could send him a picture at least offering to sell me some product? Not, anything? Not sorry to hear that, nothing. At least offer to replace the fish sold, something man!
So, what has happened to customer service and loyalty? They had a chance to keep a 20 year customer. They have lost that, and gained a strong critic who gets some satisfaction knowing that any business getting this many poor reviews, won't be open much longer. Sad, I am huge on small business, but not bad business.
Good luck with your aquarium, I have loved having one since I was a kid. Just don't shop at Aquatropics in Crystal, Minnesota if you want your fish to live! read more
