We chose to go with Petsmart as they were running a book 3 nights, get 1 free special at that ended on the first date of our reservation. When I called to confirm the reservation I asked if that deal would be honored since it ended on the first day of our reservation and the call center said that they weren't sure, but even if it wasn't first time customers get a free nights stay so it would've been the same price with either of the discounts. The call center also specifically made a note in the comments on the reservation about the specials. On checkout day we go to pay and the total is more than we were expecting and the store employee has no idea about either of the specials telling me that I need to check my emails for a coupon, but I had never been sent a coupon. The employee said there is nothing they can do despite my noting with the call center about both discounts. After paying and leaving, I call customer service and they are more than willing to connect me to the store to discuss the matter and work on getting me a refund for the missed discounts. Customer service connects me with the store pet hotel and the employee tells me that the store manager only honors discounts if you have a physical coupon or bar code and are able to show in person what you have. They kept repeating how unfortunate it is that I know about the discounts but that they can't do anything about the total. They are even specific to mention that they only honor the specials with a physical coupon/barcode because it can add up in cost to them if they honor it without it. That comment didn't help the situation as our bill was around $100 more than we were expecting to pay which we were hesitant to pay the cost with the discounts anyways. The store employee said she wasn't able to help me but that the store manager would call me the next day. I never received a phone call and have had no solution. A very disappointing interaction for a first time customer already hesitant to board their pets.

I am only a freshwater keeper and New Wave Aquaria is exclusively saltwater, but I know enough to admire the beautiful fish, soft corals, and hard corals they have throughout their store. The fish and corals all appear to be super healthy, the staff were incredibly helpful, and if I were looking to get into saltwater this is exactly where I would be going. The store was so clean and they even had pretty good deals on the other water care items so I bought a bottle of Seachem prime.

Horrible. My dog was the first one there in the morning for an easy groom (small dog). They prioritize walk-ins and the ones with appointments get to sit in a kennel for hours. My dog has a pug snout and should never be left alone in a kennel like that (13 years old). Of course I will never go back. They used to be solid. No mas. Should be a zero star. When I confronted the groomers, they finally started grooming him. They would have left him alone in a kennel for the whole day if I didn't confront them.

On Saturday 10/03/2026 at 8:30 my adult sons went into the store to purchase crickets (30 minutes…read morebefore closing and 2 cars in the parking lot). This apparently was an inappropriate time to get crickets for the store and the manager Jermaine Johnson. While getting the crickets Jermaine Johnson stated to my children that "If you ever do this again and I'm the one here, just know you won't be getting those crickets!" Between his demeanor and tone this clearly was meant to be rude as possible. When my children came back to our car, they were visibly upset. I went into the store and asked for the manager who I then found out was the rude associate. I was beyond confused as a person who is a manager should clearly have better customer service. When informing him that I have never heard of not getting service 30 minutes before closing, he stated that it was a policy if two people are working not to sell animals 30 minutes before closing. This is a store policy and not Petco's policy which I got clarification on. No posting on door or inside the building stating this policy. Clearly to enforce or educate customers of this policy that is not posted it's safe to assume they have to verbally inform customers of it. I am sure there are better ways to enforce that policy than the manager Jermaine saying what he did he could have easily said "Sorry we cannot sell crickets at this time due to this policy, or we will do it this time but please note this policy is here" or any other nice way to handle the situation. That's not what happened though, the manager had an attitude and felt it was okay to talk to customers in such a rude way and then get upset when I asked for corporates number. While providing me the wrong number for corporate he proceeded to give me his 1st and last name notating he has been a manager there for 5 years. Clearly enough time in management to be able to politely enforce a policy and communicate with a customer. I have reached out to corporate and encourage them to review the cameras and if they have audio to review that as well. I will also try to reach the owner of this Petco at 753 53rd Ave NE, Fridley, MN 55421 as they should be aware of the staff they have representing them.
