We fell in love with the unique location of staying right on the sand (there's no street or noise between us and the ocean,) and have returned because of the outstanding service from On The Sand. The amenities are outstanding. Aside from the ocean that is right outside the door, there is a pool, jacuzzi, gym, library, billiards, ping-pong and a putting green. Multiple laundry rooms make packing light feasible. It is within walking distance to food near the pier or the harbor and the spacious kitchen even makes cooking a breeze. Our favorite unit is D 26. It was renovated recently and its shower is larger than most others in the complex. Its open kitchen has plenty of dishes, silverware and cups and a full-size dishwasher so doing dishes will not be required after every meal! It has ample pantry space for our family's food and snacks for a week and I appreciate the well stocked kitchen with blenders, serving bowls, pots and pans. It sits right on the ocean so in the morning, I sit on the balcony with my tea and watch my older kids catch waves, then head down to the beach as it gets warmer. The convenience of being so close and being able to have lunch in the condo is priceless. It is a great location to spend a week at the beach.

The way this was handled was incredibly unprofessional and left me with no opportunity to do anything else with my week. Based on my experience, I would not recommend working with this business.

I didn't get to check out the adults only hot tub because I had my child with me. Grounds were great and it was lovely having the daybeds to take in the sunsets in the evening. But then they blocked us before we could arrange to get the teddy back. Totally gross and awful people to deal with.

There are 38 golf courses within a 15 miles radius of Oceanside. Gated community with patrol 24/7 through 365 days of the year. Their duties are to ensure the NCV rules and regulations are maintained. Free amenities such as the pool, jacuzzi, gym and recreational room there are no additional charges to be used during the regular occupancy. Parking spots the unit has a designated one (1) to two (2) spaces available depending on the rental unit. Plus there is available 24-hours parking spots within the complex inside the gated garage to park. Free parking- No additional charges to park inside the garages. Laundry Rooms in each building are available at any time. There are plenty of washers and dryers in each laundry room. The units can be booked through several websites, I highly recommend MakeMyVacation.com. Majority of units are equipped every you need to cook, work from home and to make your vacation pleasant. There are BBQ areas to cook outdoors are clean and maintained daily. Free WI-Fi no additional charges like other places and hotels is a charge per day. Considering we were spending around $1,000 per night for an entire week, we felt confident booking with a company whose website emphasizes "exceptional service." Unfortunately, that was not our experience. We were traveling from Arizona to escape the summer heat with two small children and a 6-month-old baby. We knew when booking this beachfront property that it did not have air conditioning, which normally isn't a concern for coastal San Diego. Unfortunately, our stay happened to fall during unusually warm temperatures and record-breaking humidity. The house was extremely muggy and never cooled below 80 degrees, making it incredibly uncomfortable, especially with a baby and young children. Given the unusual weather and heat advisory, we reached out to Haustay and asked if they could provide a portable AC unit. We were told no because the property was advertised as not having AC. We then asked for additional fans. After multiple texts and follow-ups, fans were eventually delivered, but they provided very little relief unless you were standing directly in front of them. At that point, we asked whether we could receive a refund for the remaining nights so we could move to a hotel with air conditioning, or whether they could accommodate us at another property. Again, the answer was no. Their reasoning was essentially that the home was advertised without AC and they had provided us with fans. We completely understand that Haustay cannot control the weather, and we knew the property didn't have AC when we booked it. What was disappointing was the lack of flexibility or meaningful effort to help when circumstances became unusually uncomfortable. When you're paying around $7,000 for a week and a company markets itself around exceptional service, you expect more than being reminded that the listing said there was no AC. Haustay also told us that the owners would not allow them to provide a portable AC unit. If that's the case, my recommendation to Haustay would be to have portable units available for situations like this, particularly during extreme weather, so they have the ability to actually provide the exceptional service they advertise. Unfortunately, the heat wasn't our only issue. During our stay: * A fire alarm went off at 4 a.m. because of a bad battery * Landscapers showed up at the property without any advance notice to us * The Wi-Fi went out * The washing machine or the wall behind it appeared to be leaking water onto the laundry room floor * Bug found in the master tub upon arrival Any one of these issues on its own would have been manageable. Combined with an unbearably hot and humid house and the lack of meaningful assistance from management, it made for an extremely disappointing stay. This is the one big family vacation we take each year, and we specifically spent more money hoping to have a great experience. Instead, we spent much of the week uncomfortable and trying to get help. For the amount we paid and the level of service Haustay advertises, we expected much better.

We walked to the beach, the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, and grabbed coffee without ever needing to drive. The front desk staff was always available, helpful, and welcoming. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the towels were a little worn, and the shower was confusing to operate (which may have just been our room). I've never seen a bartender have to bus & clean down tables, in addition to his bartending duties.. I've also never seen so many bathrooms on a hotel premise out of toilet seat covers & toilet paper (I'm not talking about the end of the day either, this was true even in the mornings). The staff look unhappy, so stressed & overwhelmed at times that they seemed irritated with each other & guests. This is not a regular, average 2 or 3-star hotel. This is advertised as a 4-star resort. The expectations are high given what their website shows. Unfortunately, what you get is a pretty rundown resort with so much repair that needs to be done. The kids splash pad is old, faded & looks worst than some public splash pads. My sister & brother-in-law had an issue with their bathroom sink where black sandlike gunk was coming out the drain. I called & asked for my room to get cleaned & that cleaning wasn't done until close to 5pm - not just that, they only cleaned half the room (left the bedroom untouched). It was an overall disappointing stay in terms of how much our family spent altogether. We made the most of it & had a good time with each other, but definitely won't be making more family memories here.
