My husband and I have gotten breakfast from here twice in the past few months and their biscuit breakfast sandwich is phenomenal! Haven't dined inside the restaurant yet due to Covid, but I look forward to doing so in the future! read more

Finely a fun breakfast place with fun food! You haven't lived u til you've had one of their homemade pot arts if the day. Don't even get started on their fresh biscuits with honey butter! My mouth is watering right now!! Not into sweets? Try their veggie grain bowl read more

I've been here 3 times expecting it to get better but unfortunately the food is subpar...The egg in the egg biscuit sandwich resembles that of a McDonald's egg McMuffin, it's pre cut into a circle and feels microwaved, one slice of bacon, and the cheese wasn't appetizing. It doesn't help that we waited 45 minutes for a sandwich and soggy pancakes to come out either. (Service was slow all 3 occasions) read more

Meh...food was good thus the 4 stars. Not anything fantastic tho and pricey had the lox. $15. Hardly any onion or capers. Friend had a curry bowl. Was just ok also. Didn't taste of curry at all had some delicious beers. Service was good but we watched our beers sit on the counter for about 7 minutes before we were served them. May give it a second chance but not longing to return. read more

Farm to table. It was AMAZING!! Every item is carefully thought out and right on the mark. Adorable sitting area as well! read more

Great place! Reminds me like I'm back in the city enjoying a nice brunch out....ah, the good ole days : ) I've been several times and the food is always spot on and very fresh. Also nice to see an evolving menu to keep the options fresh. If the day allows, I'd recommend trying their bloody mary - fantastic! Can't wait to go back! read more

This place was extremely pricy for the quality of the food we ordered. While our waiter Niko was wonderful, our food took a while to arrive considering the restaurant was rather empty. The potatoes were over salted. Overall the food was nothing special. I won't be back. I much prefer First Watch for much better quality food, and a more varied menu. read more

Today is my birthday, i started the day by ordering breakfast from this place. Unfortunately the rude hostess put a dent on my special day. When I went to pick up my food after ordering on line, not sure what reason, the hostess didn't look at me at all while I was waiting in front of her until I asked. When she handed me the food, I could feel the coldness from her. I like the food there but not the attitude from unfriendly staff. read more

Bland Geek yogurt and 5 minuscule slices of strawberry, store bought granola and served in a teeny-tiny bowl. No blueberries and no coconut as noted on the menu. That's what costs $12! Seriously? I specifically asked for a birthday pastry for my guests' birthday but it never was served. Wait staff was very pleasant. Outdoor venue was lovely. No need to return to this over-priced, mediocre restaurant. read more

Food was high quality, but portions were small for the money. Loud, hard to talk to people at my table. About 68 degrees, so bring a coat or sweater. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! This is the place that every city person is looking for when in the suburbs and that every suburbanite is so happy is nearby! Finally made it back for Easter, sat outside on this gorgeous Easter Sunday. Ordered the lamb special ( lamb hash with egg on top). Not sure if I'm describing correctly but sooo good. Didn't grow up with lamb so not sure what to expect but definitely delicious and will order lamb again. Hubby had a special of Dutch pancake with sausage gravy with an egg. He's never ordered pancakes but was shocked when he said it was sooo good. Also got the pastry tray also delicious. Coming out of the pandemic and starting to eat out again so happy we found this restaurant. read more

Excellent morning treat! Outdoor café feel and tasty treats with my Sweet Potato Spice Latte... White Chocolate Lavender Scone, Mushroom Burrata Toast and Lox on Toast... hard to pick my favorite! read more

Absolutely AMAZING! The manager Amie was so incredibly accommodating for my son who has severe food allergies. She wrote the entire list down and offered multiple off menu options to ensure he was able to eat a full meal, which is rare for him in a restaurant! The food was beyond incredible. We ordered multiple menu options to share and everything was delicious. The attentiveness from the manager and server, the ambiance of the restaurant and the AMAZING food has made Scratchboard our absolute new favorite restaurant in AH! read more

Good place. Good food. Good service. Great biscuits! It's always packed so go early.

My wife and I walked down to the new AH alfresco this am and ordered out from scratchboard. Food was delicious, staff was friendly, and the service was prompt. AH has done a great job adapting to the COVID restrictions and Scratchboard offers a delicious breakfast option in the middle of downtown. we can't wait to go back read more

We stopped by this new restaurant on our family walk this morning as they looked open around 7am and we were desperate for some coffee and a treat to keep our kids quiet in their stroller for the rest of our walk. They were so kind to happily allow us buy two coffees and two biscuits even though they weren't actually opening until 8am (whoops!). Their biscuits were the best biscuits I have had outside of the South and the kindness of their people to do that for us without any ounce of being put out was just the nicest thing. We will definitely be back for a bigger meal. read more

really tiny menu, got the order wrong and it took a long time to get my food so it was kind of a crappy experience as my friend ate hers alone and so did I. No apology for that . Won't go back . read more

Delicious but I left still hungry- small portions- had the Lamb Shakshuka- the rose cardamom latte was good as well. Pricey, small portions, but cannot deny it was fresh and delicious read more

The food is terrible. I ordered two sandwiches. Both were covered in butter and fried. Very small portions. No sides. Two kids meals. Mac and cheese was bland and a paste like constantly, the other was a very greasy cheese sandwich, but did come with a side of frozen grocery store tater tots. With coffee and an ice tea the bill was over $70. First and last time I will dine here. Lots of good restaurants In Arlington . Not this one. read more

This is my favorite brunch spot. Food is fresh, locally sourced and always delicious. Lilly was our server and she was the BEST. So friendly and made great menu recommendations. I'll definitely be back and hope we get her section again! read more

I ordered the Chicken Sandwich (Biscuit). The deep fried chicken was crisp and brown. I took a bite and it was too hot from the fryer, so I let it cool some. On the second and third bite, I realized the biscuit and the deep fried chicken were leaving layers of grease on my fingers. Upon further examination of the deep fried chicken I realized there was more batter and grease than there was chicken. By now the biscuit was falling apart, so I scraped the batter off the little piece of chicken inside and ate it. I was told but the waiter that it would be white, breast meat, but what I found seemed to be thigh meat. EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED! The Crispy Potatoes were good. read more

Drove from Park Ridge one Sunday morning when the weather was balmy. Sat outside next to the heaters (during Covid) and stayed toasty. The food was so delicious we can't wait to go back. Had the lox/bagel sandwich and my husband had the biscuit sandwich. The apple cider donuts were a bit dry but still tasty. Their menu is so interesting we'll definitely go back! Wish they had one closer to us. read more

Found this spot by chance and glad I did. I had the Short Rib Hash and it was delicious. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. The vanilla latte was great too. Highly recommend, I'll be back. read more

went there a 1/2 hour after opening. the restaurant was pretty empty but couldn't seat us inside. we were told it was all reserved. so they sat us outside in the cold/wind/drizzle. Not thrilled. food menu was tiny but that was to be expected due to there farm to table concept. I didn't take any special notice to any ingredients coming from a farm. ordered Side of maple bacon that was the greasiest I've ever had. not Saying bacon is a healthy choice but this stuff could take you right to the open heart dept. Wait staff was excellent. Took the bacon off the bill. place is cute. rather go to a breakfast restaurant with better seating management "as many tables were still empty inside as we left , when told they were reserved" bigger menu. 30 farms were told there resourced from should get you more than there options. Pricey= $16 French toast. $14 for a tiny breakfast sandwich. no sides. Missed all marks read more

Some of the best food in the Northwest Suburbs! Arlington Heights was in need of a fantastic breakfast/brunch/lunch spot and Scratchboard is it. Try the biscuits, you won't be disappointed or hungry. They also have terrific carry out meal packages, along with great pop up farmer's markets. This is what The suburbs has needed! read more

Came here on a Sunday for the first time, the wait for outside seating was 1.5 hours and inside was immediate. Lots of people so it must be good right??? Well I got seated, while waiting for my friend to arrive it was 5 mins before anyone came up to me. My waiter finally arrived and I mentioned to him I would like coffee right away while I was waiting for her to join me. My coffee arrived and so did my friend. The menu item was very unique and pricey as she was looking at the menu we were debating whether we would leave or try it. Being that it was a new restaurant for us we decided to give it a go. In hindsight we should have left and found a different restaurant. The waiter was absent most of the the time after taking our order, he seemed to pay more attention to the younger folks at the other table than to just turn around and ask us if we needed more coffee or "how's your meal?" . The Food was not memorable in fact I couldn't finish my short rib hash. Will we come back? highly doubtful, there are so many other great restaurants in Arlington hts. and this one hasn't offered us anything to come back to. read more

Went to Scratchboard Kitchen to get brunch to go this morning. We wanted biscuits and a drink and the hostess said that the biscuits would take 30mins. We said it was okay and that we would wait. 20mins later and we still didn't have our drinks. I went back up to ask about where they were and she said she would go make them, when she came back with out drinks she said the biscuits would still be 25 mins. We decided to leave. It was very disorganized and the tables were also not 6feet apart. The drinks tasted old and we threw them out after the first few sips read more

My family lives in the city but we're temporarily relocated in Arlington Heights, and Scratchboard has been a godsend for us! We've picked up coffee and pastries to-go several mornings. The sweet potato latte is the best seasonal coffee drink I've ever had, it truly blows Sbux PSL out of the water. We've also brunched outside with our toddler, who loves this place just as much as his parents! The rotating pop tarts are always a hit, and my husband craves the Dutch baby. This is such a special place, and a great addition to the neighborhood! I also have to give the staff props for being very covid conscious and respectful. They are always in masks and made our dining out experience very comfortable and worry free. read more

There is nothing like it. Everything on the menu is ahhhhhmazing and something you cannot find or get anywhere else. Current obsession is the spurlina superfood latte. Scratchboard kitchen is a place you'll crave again and again! read more

First time at Scratchboard but we will be back. Food was so good. The breads and biscuits were perfect and the deserts were even better.

Very happy to have Scratchboard Kitchen in Arlington Heights. Menu is awesome and so is the staff. Specialty drink and cocktail menu doesn't hurt either. Thanks Scratchboard. read more

Met friends for brunch today at Scratchboard Kitchen for the first time. I have been eager to go due to all the wonderful reviews I have heard. We had a 10:15am reservation on the patio. The hostess sat us right away. We had great service from our server and the food was good. Very pricey but the atmosphere and freshness makes it worth it. After we ate and paid the bill the hostess scurried over with a scowl and in an extremely rude tone said "the next reservation is here ladies!" And scurried off. We were never asked prior to leave immediately and in no way deserved to be spoken to that way. I would not have taken offense to her asking us if we could wrap it up as more reservations were waiting in a polite tone. Totally understand and respect that our lingering is loss of revenue for the restaurant. But after spending well over $100 for a meal speaking to me respectfully is the least they could do. read more

Great food! Pop tarts are a must try. Tad pricey for the portions and it took quite a while to get our food, but I'd go back.

Came on a Sunday morning. Had to wait longer than usual which is not bad in itself because the weather was beautiful. Ordered our food and patiently awaited for it to come. And we waited. And waited some more. We asked for ice water (because we only received a small glass of room temperature water and the waiter apologized and told us their ice machine was broken so they were having ice brought in and because they were really low and were saving it for customers who were buying drinks. We asked another staff member and received Ice water right away. The general manager Amie walked around and asked tables with larger parties how everything was and if they needed anything. She did this a couple of times but skipped right over us each time. Probably because there was only two of us? Finally the food came after a very long wait. No apologies. The food was just OK. Small portions (at least it was hot) and it would have been nice to at least get a small piece of bread with the short-rib meal I ordered, but no. Normally that wouldn't stop us from going back but honestly between the waiter not being attentive and the general manager passing us by multiple times while checking on others we will decline to return in the future to give it a second chance. read more

We try to support all our local businesses, and tried one thing off the menu when they first opened. Absolutely loved it! We have since tried nearly everything on the menu and it has all been equally great. They have continued to expand the menu and have a few seasonal favorites. Only thing that hasn't lived up to expectations was the cider donuts, but not enough to give anything less than 5stars. read more

Food is great. I order usually once a week. They need to put their orders together better. They forgot my barbecue sauce. I had to go back to get it. I also observed an employee with brioche buns chasing a car down Campbell. Food is great but make sure you have your whole order before you leave. read more

This place is insanely good! Everything we had was just so delicious. We started with a scone which normally I'm not a scone person but it was unbelievable! I got the fried chicken biscuit and like the waitress told me, it was literally life changing. My fiancé has the lox on toast and I think he moaned his entire meal so I'm assuming that was fantastic as well. Service was the best we've had in awhile. Can't wait to go back and try more! read more

We ordered the fried chicken dinner for 4, it was amazing! The chicken was so crispy, juicy, and they managed to debone a lot of the crazy big chicken pieces so 95% of it was edible which I loved. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food. I'll definitely do another dinner from here soon! Also it was ready on time! A huge win all around! read more

Had the Thursday night family meal for two yesterday and it was BOMB.COM! The pulled pork was so flavorful and juicy; the coleslaw was the best f'in coleslaw I've had in years; and the coconut rice was delicious. Dinner was hot and there was so much food; eating the dessert tonight cause we had no room left last night :). Knocked it out of the park, will have to try the fried chicken on Fridays now! Keep it up! read more
