Scratch is new, a food truck, a restaurant and so much more. The women who run this business use local ingredients to come up with unique dishes every day! We came here after seeing a news article about how they had just opened a restaurant location after operating a food truck (which they still use). We arrived around 2 pm, and they were out of local grass-fed beef. They said the had chicken, but we decided to go vegetarian. They whipped us up a vegetable curry and vegetable tacos. My husband & I drove to Lafayette for a day trip to Edith Garland Dupré Library's special collections for current research he is working on. Since we would be in Lafayette we looked up places to have lunch at ahead of time & we are so happy to have experienced their delicious food! I had their hash bowl with tofu and he, their breakfast burrito with pulled pork (this was quite a serving, he finished it up once we arrived back to Houston!) Stopped at this place on my way to Lafayette airport. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table or bar. The have a great menu where you can customize by selecting some choices. This was a really yummy place. My partner and I are vegan and they have many options. We were in town visiting family and if you're from Lafayette you know how challenging it is to find that good good. They had an amazing beet ketchup I can't stop thinking about. The food is incredible in every way- very healthy, really fresh, unique, etc. Staff is super friendly and the decor is just right! We had breakfast at Scratch yesterday and loved everything about it. From its laid back vibe to its pretty outdoor courtyard, to the yummy food and the friendly staff, we enjoyed it all! The flavors were brilliant. Biscuit, thick sausage patty, fried egg topped with Jam, I'm sure I'm missing something, it was a mountain of satisfaction. I will definitely be back. So, as a first timer I was left to fend for myself. You walk up and order then find a seat. I informed the guy taking my order it was my first time. I sat waiting for my coffee and water to later find it's self served. Now, it wouldn't have been a problem, had I been informed. Also, we felt a bit rushed out. The 4 stars is for the delicious food, I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was amazing! There is a lot of potato inside but I think it balances with the bacon (as our protein) and the egg and dressing. It is a little oily but I don't mind. The grits are watery but still delicious. The missing star is for the seemingly disorganized ways they get food out. We ordered to go and it had been 25 minutes before going back in line for another 10 to find it right there and ready. It was still hot so that wasn't a problem. They also forgot the slice of pie in the oven when they gave us the first order to had to go back to get it after they made a fresh one but it was still delicious.
