This store is a hidden gem. It sells a bit of everything, and it's all heavily discounted. Based on the name, I thought it would sell banged up kitchen appliances, but instead it's like a mini department store. There is furniture and lawn equipment and kayaks on the 2nd floor, food and housewares on the first, and shoes and clothing in the basement. We scored a case of Spindrift for half the Costco price, a box of brownies for pennies on the supermarket price, and a random over the door spice rack for $15. We had so much fun exploring that the meter ran out. They have blowout sales twice a week - when we went all clothing was randomly had off. I almost don't want to leave this review for fear this place will become overrun. But I also want them to stay in business forever. read more

The selection of things you need, want, and desire is chaotic. The sales are random but the price cuts are deep. I left with fizzy sodas, a spice rack, packaged brownie snacks, and house slippers. I really love seeing places like this because you never really know what will and will not be in stock. Walking through the isles, the prices are solid (I mean it's a liquidators), the products are a plenty. It felt like they had instant pots for days and the prices are more than reasonable if you arnt too focused on the packaging. However I was told that there would be a space for larger sizes appliances but did not find those. read more

Hi! They have a good selection. They seem to sell a little bit of a lot of stuff. The quality of clothes is pretty good, some name brands like Eddie Bauer. Winter sale, the items were as cheap as 2.00. If it's too many ppl, it can get congested. Most prices are reasonable, the staff was nice. Parking is metered. read more

Bargain hunters, you need to go here. We stumbled across the store while walking around Fell's Point before lunch. There is a main floor with everything - kitchen equipment, food items, furniture, beauty items (like flatirons, electric curlers), etc. All marked down. We were here Saturday, which was a basement deal day, I guess. So we were able to check out their sale items there, and there was some good stuff. I had to use all my willpower to not walk out of there with stuff. It's a no-frills store, but organized. I recommend it to all bargain hunters, thrift store shoppers, and the like (my people) if you are in Baltimore. read more

It's impossible to go in this place and not find something you like at a great place. My coworker told me about Scratch and Dent, because I'm always eating granola bars and she knew they had them for a great price. I went to the food isle and saw various big boxes for under $10. I got a box of 60 granola bars for $6.75. I also got a filled pancake pan that's $14.99, but was on sale for $2.99. The only downside is that things are little unorganized and somethings don't have a price. They do have very nice workers who don't mind finding out the price for you if you ask. Overall this place is great and I'll definitely be back. read more

Great discount products- no doubt. But very poor customer service. At checkout for a 2-piece item, cashier makes a swap for top piece without explaining to me why. I arrive home to find The bottom piece is missing. With less than an hour to their closing time, I rush back to explain I've checked my bags already and can't find the item. Cashier insists she put it in my bag, and says I should go back to check. I also explain that it being a hot afternoon, there's no way I'd have left my house without double checking. Between both managers I speak to subsequently, no attempt is made to find a solution- posture is simply that one of us has to be lying and since their cameras show it's not their employee, it's not their problem. Had no other option but to state my frustration and walk away- bottom piece mysteriously missing. Having just spent $230+, I think my walking back to say I was missing a $7 bottom shouldn't have been dismissed as if I'd taken the item and just wanted to fuss. Shrugs. read more

There's something to be said about this place if I actually created a yelp listing to review it. Its none of my business. Literally. This is one of the best kept secrets in Bmore. So much so that I'm quite hesitant to write this review. If you love Costco and Sams Club, think of Scratch and Dent as a smaller, cheaper version- with no membership fees but slightly rough around the edges. They carry overstocked merchandise, floor models, and products in well.. scratched and dented boxes. 95% of the time, the only thing that's wrong with the product is a dented box. I get my stocks of granola bars and snacks here for a fraction of the cost. They get fresh inventory Wednesday through Friday and every other weekend. If you go early in the morning, its kind of amusing to see all the people waiting in the back of the store- watching the employees price new inventory and snatching it before it even makes it to the shelves. Not that this is a reason you should go :P. The first floor has non perishable groceries, kitchenware, bed/bath, and giant bins with mountains of clothes (these scare me and I stay away for fear of falling in and getting buried alive). Upstairs resembles an odd garage sale of sorts. I swear you can find anything from a dining room table to stone fountains(?). Bottom line: brave the sketchy interior and check it out :) read more

I just learned about this place from a few locals who frequent the store. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! If you're into finding good deal, bargains, love garage sales, and comfortable with open box items... you will love this store. They have weekly discounts for various items where they take off an additional 50% from an ALREADY marked down price. Had I know about this place when first coming to Baltimore, I'd be here every week... I found 2 Zorijushi Rice cookers - NEW for a ridiculous price... I doubt you will be able to walk into this place and not find something to buy. Let's just say that the exterior might make you keep walking.. but I dare you to stop in and actually take a look around. Scratch & Dent is known for being the store that sells "Scratched and Dented" items.. go figure? :) Essentially, you will see many products that BJ's and Costco sells with scratches, dents, minor missing pieces and such at a very discounted price. For example, if some of the food products that are shipped to BJ's get dented or the cardboard is tore.. they cant stock it on the shelf, so it gets sent to S&D. If someone buys a canister set and its missing a lid, it gets sent to S&D. If someone buys a plate set and 1 plate is broke, it gets sent to S&D. Get the picture yet? I usually shop the upstairs and the mid floor shelves. Some of my personal purchases include: a 144oz Brita filter (usually $10-0 in stores) for $20, wrapping paper for $0.25-$0.50 a roll, snap-and-go plastic storage containers, area rugs for as low as $60 and much much more. Sometimes S&D even runs sales, so make sure to check what is the sale of the day. It can be that everything downstairs or upstairs is 50% off.. or that all clothes are $5. AHHHH yeah! I'm the least picky person I know. I do thrifty like nobody's business, so I can go out every day and party like a rockstar. Or fill a tub with money I saved by not paying full price for anything. Whatever. It's my tub! And it was a free tub. Crazy people throwing out perfectly good tubs... Joking. I'm joking. This place has everything I'd go to a big box store for, just dented. Great place for amazing savings and in my experience all the staff I encountered were friendly, patient, knowledgable, and very kind. Was just introduced to the store and have been there twice in one week. Will make it apart of my weekly errand to visit the store. This place is amazing when you 1st pull up you must adjust to the storefront it looks shady and like it could be infested. The products in the window are very cluttered & disorganized and is very misleading to the valuable products and treasures that can be found inside! I recently stopped by this store to find a couch maybe but what I found was the shark rocket duo clean, two plush carpets and which on the shark website its value is $200 plus shipping and handling plus a warranty inside the store it was Box brand new. It's an amazing product and it works wonderfully the other items that I saw as I was strolling through this maze of a store weight equipment, rugs, kayaks, vaults, fire pits, gazebos, lights, jewlery, sinks batteries, tissue, all bulk and deeply discounted prices. Really like this place. You have to hit them up on their sale days, however. I got a really amazing reindeer ugly Christmas sweater that lights up for about $10 because it was half off! You really have to sift through the clothing but most of it is high quality stuff (Kirkland Signature). They have a bunch of other random things too! I used to buy a lot from this company but since they have the new manager, everything changed. The workers are very nasty specially the cashier. I want to check if the item is okay, I asked her if I can open it, she look at us like we are bothering her and explained to her that I live so far away that it's hard for me to come back, then she finally open it and then she asked us if cash or credit, at first my husband said cash but when he checked his wallet he does not have enough cash, so he said we will pay credit The cashier look at us roll her eyes and with big attitude and she said I asked you if it cash or credit. We said iam sorry , she then said again that next time you have to tell us what you want. We don't mind for them to tell us but what we cannot take is the attitude of the cashier. So we told the cashier you don't need to be nasty about it. Then the manager came without asking what's going on, he told us to be nicer, so I told him that not to get involved if he does not know what is going on. Then two more of the employee came and try to ask what is wrong, but they are not listening to us. Then the manger came again and showed us the sign outside that they have the right to refused customers that we are not allowed to come back again. I asked his name and he said its non of my business. This is not the first time that this manager showed a big time attitude. We had been a good customer for them we spend hundreds of money for more than ten years. when Ms Dotty was still on the front it seems every body was nicer then. This place is awesome! You can find so much great stuff for much less than the regular price. I typically get cereal, granola bars, mac & cheese, and other food/snacks here - the packaging is dented but the food inside is always perfectly fine. They also have great deals on the stuff they keep on the second floor. Last time I went I got some really cheap potting soil, pots, and a garden hose. Staff is very helpful too! read more

i had been on the market for a chandelier. i had seen what i wanted at an expensive store in glen burnie. my girlfriend was shopping in scratch and dent and sent me a picture of a beautiful chandelier on display at scratch and dent. the next day i found this place called scratch and dent and went there. the chandelier was absolutely beautiful, a quarter of the price of what i had plan to spend. i could not believe this find. when i entered this place , it looked like someone had dropped a bomb in it, but i decided if this beautiful chandelier was in here what else i might find, so i looked around. i found lots of valuable items still in the boxes. often time the boxes were damaged. i will continue to visit this place on a regular basis. i will not share this jewel with anyone else and neither will i tell anyone where my chandelier came from read more
