Ube Coconut Pancakes
EJ P.

Came in around 11:30am and we were thinking it would be busy. Thank goodness it wasn't as busy since we have been hearing great things about this place. My family and I decided to try it on Friday. I love the setup walking in and sitting arrangements no reservations needed and walked right in. Service was amazing! My wife and I had coffee and it was unlimited and freshly made. It's a restaurant but with fast food style. Wow props to the chef and owner! Food was amazingly delicious!!! I'd recommend to my family and friends to this place. See you again!

I love taking folks to scramblers because not only is it authentic Hawaiian breakfast and other foods, but it's also locally owned! We love the pancakes, breakfast burrito, loco moco and the coffees! This is a walk up and order place and they bring it to your table. The servers are always nice and have great suggestions. There's indoor and outdoor seating and the vibe is always cool.

Loco moco

The only reason for a 4/5 was their coffee drinks. Everything was great! Coffee was watered down and did not have much coffee flavor in it... just felt like milk and sugar. The loco moco could have had a bit more rice for the amount of gravy that was given to us. I would say majority of their dishes were pretty much all great choices to choose from! Tons of flavor and great options to choose from!

Chicken fried steak

Always an amazing experience. The servers are very attentive, always refilling my coffee before I run out. Really enjoyed the potatoes. Chicken fried steak is one of my favorites. Hubby and I still usually share the florentine omelette with fried rice And Side of Portuguese sausage, don't forget the extra plate and coffee to go:) Also love the renovation!

TL;DR: busy little place but food was good. Get the island Chillaquilles. On a road trip we found this place through fellow helpers. We miss the Hawaiian grindz we used to get in Maui. Craving something ube or kalua pork. Everything sounded pretty good. They do their best in getting your order and then finding a table for your party. It's a small place but cozy and felt like a mom and pop place which is the good stuff. One of the dishes we ordered was the turkey avo melt sandwich. Came with fries and it was good. Had to try the loco moco with chicken Katsu. Sounded different so it was a little weird combination. Better stick with the hamburger patty if you want the traditional loco moco. The highlight was the Island Chillaquilles. Chillaquilles with Kalua pork. And the kalua pork did have that Hawaiian flavor it was so good. We were sharing so not enough to go around. For the Ube, we got the ice Ube drink. It was good, but it was really sweet and a little overdone with the flavor. I would recommend anyone wanting a good breakfast and especially if someone wanted some good Hawaiian Griindz breakfast.

We love coming here fore breakfast! We always order the loco moco with fried rice and the house potatoes. Service is always good. Will come back soon!

Duuuuuude. That ube pancake with coconut cream was fire. Melted in my mouth!!! So yum and not too sweet. Must try! French toast was good and loco moco hit home. Service was quick. Small venue. It was packed when I went and it was raining! That speaks volumes!

First time coming to Scramblers Cafe and the menu and indoor decor look very familiar. Upon reading online their sister branch is Aloha Stacks! That's great because I go there often as well. I'm always craving delicious Hawaiian food and this time we ordered the loco moco with katsu and upgraded to fried rice (total of $17.50). The upgrade cost was $2.50. I was disappointed because the food arrived lukewarm and there was barely any gravy. The upgraded fried rice was also lukewarm warm and too salty to taste. Barely any scrambled eggs within the fried rice. Looked more like soy sauce rice than fried rice. The over easy fried egg was the only thing that was good and served hot. This entree came first. We also asked for an extra side of gravy and it never came. Darn. I also got their kahula pork Benedict ($16) which came 10 minutes after the loco moco. This was served hot and tasted good. The Manila pork was tender and flavorful. Side of potato's was burnt and not salted. Had to add ketchup to make it better. Friendly staff and nice ambiance inside. There's also outside patio seating as well. They have assigned indoor seating. Comes with complimentary ice waters. Will probably come back here next time to try their sweet items like ube pancakes but I think I'm going to visit Aloha stack more often than here. Disappointed that this restaurant is associated with with Aloha Stacks since their food is pretty good.

Harvest Benedict

I've came to this restaurant a couple of times and it's great! Their harvest benedict is my favorite and the potatoes they come with are really good but honestly nothing beats the hawaiian iced coffee they have!! The service here is also amazing, even when they're really busy, everyone is super kind and attentive to you. They have a great system with seating, where you don't have to look around and find your own table. Overall, the food, service, ambiance, and music is great, I'd love to come back again!! (Also kind of reminds me of Island Vintage which makes me miss Hawaii so much haha)

In the very crowded shopping center, right next to Starbucks is Scramblers. The first battle will be finding a parking spot and avoiding crashing into anyone in the small lanes. The next will be deciding to eat inside or outside. My family is a big one of 6 people, and even though four of those people are small, we still have a tough time finding seating - this was no exception. We thought to sit outside on a picnic table with an umbrella but the umbrella was jammed shut putting the table out of commission - we ended up jamming 3 small tables together to fit. Okay onto the food which we care to hear about: #1 Kids breakfast pancake - this was perfect for my kid but she only likes over easy or over medium eggs and the business would not make her egg that way. They said kids meals have to have scrambled eggs - super lame so we had to buy an egg a la carte to add to her meal and then no one ended up eating the scrambled egg anyway which I hate since it's wasting food. (see picture) #2 Huevos Rancheros - my fault ordering this at a non-Mexican restaurant. Beans seemed canned. Egg on top of oil soaked corn tortillas to make soft. Non-spicy sauce. Good avocado. Soft potatoes. Overall very underwhelming. #3 Island Chilaquiles- again our fault trying Mexican, but with an islander spin. Much like the huevos rancheros the Mexican part was underwhelming and the rice for the "islander" part tasted day old - the pork was decent. #4 strawberry crepes - these were thin and tasty! Nothing but good things to say as strawberries were fresh, cream was good, powdered sugar was nice! #5. Loco moco- rice again tasted old and a little mushy. The burger honestly did not come across as homemade and more so premade but again take that as a grain of salt from our opinion. The gravy was delicious and buttery. Egg done perfectly. Water was free and brought promptly to the table. We also ordered a coffee which was good not burnt. So at the end of the day this was a good spot to try but we will not be returning

The Island chilaquiles

It was intriguing to hear of Hawaiin mixed with California. But not only intriguing but delicious! This restaurant is in an outside corner strip mall with several other businesses there. There is adequate parking but we went on a Tuesday at 830am. I bet it's more crowded on the weekend. You walk in an go up to the counter to order. The server who helped us was so nice. She asked if we wanted any suggestions or if we had questions. She offered us menus and said we could sit and take our time to decide and then come back to order. I ordered something from the local favorites. The menu had plenty to choose from! I had the Island chilaquiles. It was great. The pork was shredded, flavorful and tender. Chips were crispy, sauce wasn't spicy enough for me, but there was available sauce to add. It is not a large restaurant with about a dozen tables or so inside, but also had seats available outside. Prices were great, food very tasty, service fantastic- I enjoyed this place and will be back as I want to try their Ube coconut pancakes!

Mike A.

People were friendly and service was pretty good. We rate 7/10. Chop steak plate lunch was chewy not tender Chicken Katsu plate lunch 8.3/10 decent portion but was on the smaller side. Ube pancakes topped with coconut flakes and coconut sauce- 100/10 - amazing Kids pancakes bacon and scrambled egg --made it a white lava style macadamia sauce 1000/10 which is why we came for the pancakes so it was on target with that. Spam musubi: 2 for $9.00, pretty pricey if you ask me. It was on the saucy side too. Only a strip of seaweed covering the middle of the musubi. There was a long strand of hair on one of them. A server kindly replaced it.

Spam Loco Moco (very good. Gravy tasted mushroom base)

Place was welcoming. You order first before you get sat down. Food came out a little slower but the taste were very good. All came out hot and very tasty. Place was clean. Only problem was the one bathroom for both genders which caused a line. Will come back again to try other foods on the menu.

Honestly, from service to portion to food Quality, across the board everything was fantastic. Prices are fairly standard nothing exorbitant. The portions are great. I ordered the fried calamari which might've been the most tender and fresh calamari I think I've ever tasted. My wife had the Caprese salad, which was really fresh and well done. For the main meal, I had crab stuffed ravioli, and my wife had the steak beef bowl, which was enormous and could easily be shared with two people. The ravioli was excellent. The sauce was excellent. The flavor and the subtle sweetness of the crab shined through. My wife's steak bowl was also amazing. The steak was melt in your mouth tender. A very subtle heat in the seasoning from red chili, I believe. Chefs kiss. Our server was amazing and I feel horrible for not remembering her name, the woman who was working the front area was helpful and knowledgeable and just very welcoming. A special bonus was the old school 50s and 60s music. My mom would have loved it. This place is a definite guarantee for anyone who enjoys great quality food. We will be there again. I would've taken pictures of the food, but I am an absolute glutton and finished it...lol

The octopus was tender and delicious with a heat that built up slowly. The bed of greens was a little over dressed but delicious. The burrito was very good. The bartender took our drink order, and we received chips and salsa, which were very good. However, the bartender seemed a bit distracted, forgot about us, even though it wasn't a busy night. We waited for a bit and ordered a few more drinks. Unfortunately, after waiting about an hour, we never received our meal or any update on its status. We eventually decided to close out our bill. At that point, we noticed we had been charged for the meal we never received, as well as drinks that were not served. When we brought this to the bartender's attention, they raised their voice and told us we were wrong, which caught us by surprise. I understand that things can get busy, but a lack of communication and being spoken to disrespectfully is unacceptable. A simple check-in or update would have made a big difference. Based on this experience, we're unlikely to return. We really wanted this to work, but maybe you had to be regular customer to get better service?! We tried, but this place is a solid No for us.

When I first arrived around 11:00 to 11:30 AM, there was already a long line of people waiting to get in. When we first entered, Host Valerie directed me to wait to the side and said the cashier would help me. The cashier was busy, so I continued waiting patiently. I then noticed there was a separate line on the far right for customers only purchasing pies. Since nobody was assisting that line either, I allowed an elderly woman waiting there to go ahead of me so she could purchase her pie first. By the time my purchase was finally processed, it was already 12:34 PM according to my receipt. After that, Manager Mona informed me that Viri, the cashier on the left side, would help me. Unfortunately, despite telling me she would help me "in one second," she repeatedly assisted other customers before me and allowed multiple people to cut ahead in line. The overall organization and customer service were extremely poor. When placing my order, I specifically informed the staff that my wife is vegetarian and asked that her pancakes not touch the eggs or sausage and that those items remain separated. After waiting a very long time, Viri returned and informed me that the kitchen had made a mistake and had to separate the food. Honestly, I do not even believe the meal was remade properly. The biggest issue came after we got home with our to go order. We discovered hair in the food. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious health and safety concerns. Between the wait time, the confusion with ordering, the repeated customer service issues involving Host Valerie, Manager Mona, and Viri, and then finding hair in the food, the entire experience was extremely frustrating. From the time I arrived until the time I got back home, the process took roughly from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, which was over two hours for a to go order that still ended up having health and sanitation concerns. I understand restaurants can get busy, but poor organization, lack of communication, food handling mistakes, and finding hair in food is simply not acceptable, especially when dietary restrictions were clearly communicated from the beginning.
