If there was Hawaiian macaroni salad that rivals L&L Hawaiian BBQ this place takes as much pride in sticking to what's great. Had not been to Ono's for quite sometime, so we decided to try it again. We ordered ahead (through Yelp). The order was placed at 4:10pm and was to be picked up at 5:15pm. We arrived 5 minutes early just to make sure that the order was either about to be made or being made. To our surprise it was done and sitting on the counter! We live 8 minutes away so if we ordered ahead and it was "just made" it should still be hot, right? Nope! It was not hot and not cold but more like room temperature. Mind you that it was on Saturday, July 22, 2023 a hot day summer Corona/Norco day and the restaurant was not busy at that time. The counter was staffed by 3 employees. Yes, it was good food, but it should NOT have been made that much ahead of time. To top it off, the order was wrong! We had ordered 2 combo dishes; One was a chicken and beef combo, the second dish was a Hawaiian beef + Hawaiian beef! We arrived at home and had 2 combos of chicken and beef. NO HAWAIIAN BEEF!! Yes, I should of checked the order before we walked out but, oh well. Since I had placed the order ahead of time and on the app., what were the chances that "they" would get it wrong? Again it was not a busy time and they had more staff than needed. So for that, my review of Ono Hawaiian BBQ is only 3 stars. A plate lunch is the best thing to get if you're really hungry. It comes with meat, rice and mac salad. The servings are big and they stack the meat! Meat was juicy and flavorful. If you have a craving for some Hawaiian food this a decent place to get some to get your fix. I always get combo 4 gets you some chicken, meat and short rib! Which I believe they have a good short rib! With good flavor! I love the Mac as well I make sure that I get an extra side of Mac! Super surprised by how much we liked this! We got their pork, Katsu chicken and island fire chicken. They tasted great! The island fire chicken wasn't overwhelmingly hot, and the pork was perfectly salty. Because of COVID, we took our food home. I was unsure about the katsu chicken because crispy chicken doesn't always fare well and stay crispy, but this was probably the most crispy chicken I've travelled with. The dipping sauce for it was really good too. It also came with a little side salad that was fresh and yummy. All in all, I think we'd go back. It's missing a star mainly because the katsu chicken didn't have a lot of meat compared to the amount of breading. If there are thicker cuts of chicken then it'd be great! read more

Two chefs came out to the patio on their lunch break and were eating the same thing that I had ordered but theirs looked more edible than mine. My food selection was terrible today and I took it back to the counter after only a few bites. The chicken was overcooked in what tasted like very old oil and it was extremely dry. I didn't receive any dipping sauce which might have helped to mask the nastiness but I was out of luck all the way around. I remember when I tried Ono Hawaiian BBQ for the first time off of Ontario, when it had opened was a few years ago, then had moved to the other section of the city, and there was another Ono Hawaiian, we have tried both locations, I have tried basically every dish they have on the menu, but my favorite is the Kalbi short ribs with sticky rice and their scoop of macaroni salad is Island thru and thru. The customer service seems to be consistent, the plates are good sized portions, and the food is good! Only suggestion is the kalbi ribs have fat on them, I wish they could trim it off but I get that the fat soaked in with the sauces is what makes it flavorful. The decor and ambiance is what you would expect in a restaurant laid back I get what they were striving for island relaxable casual dining experience. I would recommend it a try since there are not many Hawaiian cuisine. on scale of 1 to 10 I give this place an 8 out of 10. read more

Phones dont work. Bad customer service. And they will lie to you. I went in with a large online order to ask if they could make it ahead of schedule because it wouldn't let me modify the time online and their phones were not working. They originally told me no so I asked to cancel my order. Well conveniently all of a sudden when I want to cancel a large party order that they said they "haven't received," the lady now knows my name and could now make it. If I hadn't spoken up for myself, they'd have me sitting there for 30-45min playing their games. Then for lying I asked for them to honor the 20% off deal they are promoting for online orders with stickers on the window. They said I'd have to cancel it. Well then I told them since they aren't making it yet, go ahead and cancel and I'll re order for the discount. They would not let me so I re ordered with the coupon and declined the first order. I'll be talking to my credit card company about the first order they refused to cancel since I did not receive both orders. And after all that, they never gave me sauces! She spoke perfect English as I was very clear while I was speaking. She made me repeat my order and my credit card number over and over again. Waste of time. She repeated when I would be picking up and told me she would leave my order..in which I paid for in entirety, with a manager. I KNEW they were going to screw this up. Next day: I showed up an hour later than we Agreed upon...assuming they'd need the extra time but I showed up and they had no idea what I was talking about. Needless to say my order was not completed. After speaking to a manager, he insisted that they would be working on my large order immediately and that it would take an additional 30 to 45 minutes.
