You are better off ordering from the pancakes/french toast side and add on whatever else you want, and spend a lot more doing it this way. I ordered an omelette and it was ok. All the reviews that say there's a beach view or it's right on the beach are exaggerating. It's right in the parking lot of the beach but no view. Maybe you can see the beach if the wind is blowing hard enough and the greenery across the parking lot moves out the way for a brief second but you have a full view of the parking lot for the beach in the rear seating area. Maybe I'll come back and give it another chance and order something else but with so many other breakfast spots, this one won't be at the top of my list to return to.

This cozy cafe offers a welcoming mix of seating: counter spots for solo diners, four two-person tables, six four-person tables, and a spacious large-party table in the back right corner. The interior feels a bit dimly lit, though ample natural light streams in from the front windows. Convenient parking is available right out front. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and told to seat ourselves. Our waiter arrived promptly with menus and took our drink orders. I opted for the bacon scrambler, while my partner chose poached eggs--both dishes arrived quickly and were absolutely excellent: fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The total for our meals and drinks came to about $26, which feels very reasonable in today's economy. Overall, Banana River Cafe delivers a fantastic, no-fuss breakfast experience with great service and quality food. I highly recommend it to anyone craving a satisfying morning meal in the area.

The ingredients tasted fresh and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. You could tell care went into the preparation and presentation. We both ordered the Frothy Coffee, which ended up being one of our favorite parts of the meal. It was such a unique and fun touch and made the whole breakfast feel a little more special. It was delicious and different from your typical coffee drink. Everything from the food to the service made this a memorable stop during our trip. There was an option to add candied pecans and that was an amazing addition to this breakfast. It was presented like a sandwich and the mascarpone middle with the strawberries was the perfect sweet! We got up early on Christmas Eve and opted to find a cool breakfast place. After a few minutes in Yelp, we found Backwater which is nestled in Historic Downtown Melbourne. Parking should not be a problem but if you can't find some on your he street their is a public parking garage not to far away. We opted for the Greek breakfast and the Cuban Benedict which were both fresh and excellent. We also split their seasonal Cinammon pancake as well which was great as well. Pancakes are huge so make sure you leave some room if you plan on having one. All portions were healthy as well, no skimping at Backwater and everyone was in the Christmas spirit as well which was awesome! The atmosphere is friendly, laid back and welcoming which is great if you are from out of Town. So if you are in the area, make sure you check them out for breakfast or lunch.
