I highly recommend Scott. He is super sweet and easy to work with. His pricing was very fair. We had our Viking dishwasher replaced with a Thermador and it was such a breeze to work with him. I know...how bad can swapping out a broken dishwasher be...not sure, but with high grade dishwasher it can get pretty messy. So I called Scott. He came out a few days later, took about an hour-n-half to do the swap without an incident...tested and worked perfectly. That was awesome! I had a Bosch dishwasher acting up, sometimes losing power. Scott came by right on time an diagnosed the washer and fixed the electrical problem. While he was running it through some cycles to make sure it worked and had to wait, he also checked our gas stove, water heater, washer, and dryer, and cleaned the washer arm of the dishwasher -- super nice!!! Dishwasher wouldn't drain so my girl emailed Scott. He returned the email promptly (within 24 hrs). An appointment was scheduled for the following day. He showed up at the appointed time. He promptly removed his shoes when he saw all the shoes by the front door. Even after I told him he didn't have to, he insisted. I appreciated that. He completed the repair in a friendly and professional manner. A foreign object in the drain motor was obstructing the impeller. No parts just labor. What can you say? A nice guy with great service, who was upfront and honest. He pretty much diagnosed my issue w/ my broken Maytag washer when I told him the symptoms over email, and then came w/ the right parts to fix it. I emailed him on a Tues night, and he was able to accomodate me the very next day at 2pm. He came over and fixed it within an hour for $100. He didn't try to overcharge me in any way. Another glowing review for Scott the fix-it guy. I'm guessing all his good reviews are keeping him busy because he was booked out a week in advance when I first contacted him about a washing machine repair. Nevertheless, I made an appointment for the following Weds. That day Scott showed up exactly one minute early and proceeded to spend almost two hours working on the offending machine. I started to get quite nervous, thinking that I might end up paying hundreds of dollars fixing a crappy washer that we bought used from a now-defunct dealer. When Scott reappeared from the laundry room and said he would have to come back the next day with a new part I almost pulled the plug on the whole thing. With some trepidation, I asked him for an estimate of the cost. He replied that it was going to be $110 or $120, depending on the cost of the part. $120 for that much work? Amazing. Before he could change his mind, I said, "let me cut you a check, right now." He showed up right on time again the next day, and then spent another hour working on the machine. At least I think it was an hour. He slipped out without saying goodbye. Maybe he thought I'd left, but who knows? Washing machine works great, thanks to Scott the stealthy ninja. read more

Okay, I feel compelled to update everyone on Scott! I called him again because my clothes were getting little holes in them. I couldn't figure out whether it was the washer or dryer? I emailed Scot with my little problem and he promptly responded with, "it's definitely the dryer. I can fix it." Yay! He showed up a day or two later and went to work. Replaced 2 parts and cleaned out the dust and lint in the dryer. I washed and dried my favorite sweater a few times now..no holes!! He fixed it! Very reasonable price as well! I bought a house a year ago in Oakland, the electric dryer that came with the house stopped working inexplicably a couple of months ago. Not wanting to buy a new electric dryer since I prefer gas dryers and would have to remodel to make that work, I called Scott to see if he could fix it as a short term solution. What can I say, he was fast, affordable, knowledgeable, and has a sense of humor. Dryer is now working, my electric bill is about to go up again, and it is all thanks to The Fix It Guy. We loved Scott the Fix It Guy! Our dryer was wonky, too hot, so we called him on Saturday, he said he could come on Monday. Exactly, precisely at 9:30 AM he was on our doorstep as promised (when is the last time a repair person was exactly on time). He already had an idea of what the problem was, so came prepared with a part. Fixed the dryer in an hour (he charges $95/hour), and we're all set. He was friendly and professional, and I especially liked that he took pictures of his work with his phone, then showed me exactly what he fixed. Gives me confidence in his work. My off button on my oven would not turn off unless I flipped the circuit breaker---which is not sustainable. I found Scott initially unresponsive. I called 3x and emailed 1x over a few days before I heard anything back. If it wasn't for the stellar reviews and the fact I got a quote from The Appliance Repair Doctor saying it would cost 509 (289 for the control system and 220 for the install and rewire) to replace the control system on my oven I would have given up. Eventually he wrote back and told me that the thing they said would cost 509 would be $95 for labor and $58.40 for the part. I was thrilled. I can deal with delayed email responses for a savings like this...plus I like the idea of supporting a little guy. Well after I received the part he told me I needed from the link he gave me I was very disappointed to see it was the front piece for the oven drawer not the control panel at all. I emailed him and he said: "So sorry for the wrong part. Here is the correct part from the same company I hope that they will allow for an exchange." and gave me the new link. No an ideal response since I too HOPE they will return the part and figure it will cost me $20 to return this giant thing that he specifically told me to order. I'm forgiving because I'm still saving money compared to the other guy. I spent 25 minutes with the phone rep for the website working out the return and ordering the new part---and after some time the phone rep told me the new part he told me to order was ALSO WRONG. Ok, that's too much. I like to save money but not at the expense of more work and stress. Plus now you wasted my time AND were wrong two times. P.S. The conclusion to the story is I opened up the back of the stove to make sure I was ordering the right part because at this point I'm paranoid. While I'm back there I see the control panel is crooked and as soon as I straighten it and re-adhesive it everything works. This part I can't blame on Scott since he never came to my house but I do blame The Appliance Repair Doctor. But I do blame Scott for wasting my time, being initially very slow to respond, and being wrong twice. Being cheap isn't enough. read more

My washer went up in smoke one day, literally. I called Scott and he said it was probably the fan belt, PHEW! He can to take a look and it turned out the water pump had died and also taken out the pulley and belt. When Scott wasn't able to find just the pulley, he suggested places we could get it so we didn't have to pay for a new motor. We got the $10 part instead of the $200 motor based on his advice. He came back as soon as we received the part and fixed that baby right up. This man is wonderful, courteous, professional and honest. I will be calling him back for any repairs I have! read more

I called half a dozen appliance repair shops only to get shut down one by one because none of them work on LG washing machines. I called Scott. His voicemail message says he's best reached my email so I halfheartedly wrote him explaining my problem. Not only did he email me back promptly he helped me trouble shoot. For about an hour we exchanged emails back and forth while I followed his trouble shooting instructions and after it was all said and done he properly assessed the problem. He was able to come over a few days later and showed up right on time as we agreed. His clean, professional appearance was surprising and refreshing. He was very kind and easy going. Scott's repair service had to be re-done by another company. In August 2016 Scott replaced the pump of our Miele dishwasher with a GE pump which we later found out is not sufficient for a Miele dishwasher. He explained that it was not original Miele pump but assured me that it was of the same quality with an even longer life expectancy. He left our house with the dishwasher not functioning and advice how I had to finish myself the problem which I was not able to following his tips. I had to ask him to come again which he did and it took him only a few minutes to get the dishwasher to run and for which he charged us again. After he left the machine started to first leak small amounts of water and at some point started to flood our kitchen. When we told Scott about the flooding he offered to level the machine. At this point we decided to call another service. The other company replaced the pump which fixed the problem. Leveling the dishwasher was not necessary. During his first visit Scott also replace the door seals of our dishwasher. He had extreme problems installing the bottom seal and at some point damaged parts inside of the dishwasher door. At some point he admitted he never replace a bottom seal of that model before. He also cut unnecessarily the top seal which had to replaced later as well. We asked for a refund to remedy our bad experience. Scott offered a third of the amount his service and the parts had cost us. We think that the amount of his counter offer is not sufficient and tried to meet in the middle. In December we were informed that Scott refused to resolve the complaint as requested. read more
