Scott came by today, the day before Thanksgiving, to get our dishwasher up to speed. He's very smart, pinpointed the problem right away, and explained to me how to maintain the different moving parts in there. It was interesting to me, like a little tutorial. He got our dishwasher up and running in no time, and then took a look at our clothes dryer, and explained that it's important to clean off the filter with soap and water once in awhile. So we got a little bonus from his visit as well. He will definitely be our go to guy to fix any larger appliances. I think that he is intelligent, personable and trustworthy. read more

Scott fixed a drain issue in our washer/dryer combo. In addition to responding quickly to the initial inquiry and adeptly fixing the issue, he was really friendly and helpful. He explained what he was doing as he was fixing the machine, and provided advice for things to do if attempting a future repair myself. read more

First he gave some free advice via email, which was great but didn't end up fixing the problem with my dishwasher. He came right on time, fixed it efficiently and carefully. Thanks! read more

Scott's repair service had to be re-done by another company. In August 2016 Scott replaced the pump of our Miele dishwasher with a GE pump which we later found out is not sufficient for a Miele dishwasher. He explained that it was not original Miele pump but assured me that it was of the same quality with an even longer life expectancy. He left our house with the dishwasher not functioning and advice how I had to finish myself the problem which I was not able to following his tips. I had to ask him to come again which he did and it took him only a few minutes to get the dishwasher to run and for which he charged us again. After he left the machine started to first leak small amounts of water and at some point started to flood our kitchen. When we told Scott about the flooding he offered to level the machine. At this point we decided to call another service. The other company replaced the pump which fixed the problem. Leveling the dishwasher was not necessary. During his first visit Scott also replace the door seals of our dishwasher. He had extreme problems installing the bottom seal and at some point damaged parts inside of the dishwasher door. At some point he admitted he never replace a bottom seal of that model before. He also cut unnecessarily the top seal which had to replaced later as well. We asked for a refund to remedy our bad experience. Scott offered a third of the amount his service and the parts had cost us. We think that the amount of his counter offer is not sufficient and tried to meet in the middle. In December we were informed that Scott refused to resolve the complaint as requested. read more

Scott is, in a word: the best. OK that's 2 words. Anyway, if you want a personalized, dedicated, won't-quit-until-it's-fixed appliance repair experience, at a reasonable cost, with ethical regard and warm good humor (and maybe even self-defense tips) thrown in for good measure, you will not go wrong with Scott. Based on his rave reviews here and elsewhere I called him in to have a look at my Bosch dishwasher -- this, after having a bad experience with a Bosch-authorized repair outfit. Long story short: the whole process of investigation and resolution may have taken longer than with a Bosch specialist [because A) Bosch doesn't make its tech info generally available, and B) as a solo general repairman Scott doesn't have a warehouse full of thousands of parts for every conceivable make and vintage of appliance, & so must order parts as needed -- and sometimes those parts, as in my case, are not found in the U.S.], but I was satisfied all along the way with Scott's analytical acumen and expertise and impressed with the degree of commitment he invested in what was basically a small job. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. I will definitely call on Scott again the next time something -- anything! -- breaks down (as it will); you should too. read more

I used Scott's services in order to clean up some lint in the dryer vent and to check my washing machine as it was sometimes "leaking". He did a fantastic job. No only he cleaned up all the lint in the old vent but also showed me how to do it in the future (in case of). He also checked my washing machine and just told me that it did not have any issues expect that I needed to use a more efficient detergent. This guy is so honest and helpful. I would definitely re command Scott. Great guy and a really reasonable price. You can't go wrong. read more

Our washer was broken and we weren't sure the exact problem, if it was something that could be easily fixed or if it was something that needed such extensive work to be replaced completely. Scott was very responsive both by phone call and in making an appointment. He quoted competitive prices for both scenarios, so we asked him to come. I felt really bad that I was actually late returning to my home for the appointment, but he was very understanding, and even waited for me to return without a hint of irritation. He quickly diagnosed the problem, and though the washer was not fixable, he gave me references to places to purchase affordable units. He was very professional. I'd definitely call on him again if we have other appliance malfunctions in the future! read more

NO ONE WILL EVER BE CALLED BUT SCOTT! What a generous and competent pro. He only charged me for the part and fixed it in about 20. I even set him up so that he could have charged more but he didn't even entertain the idea. All these compliments for this guy are true! I may name a baby after him, except being gay, unlikely! read more

Scott fixed my no-longer-cold refrigerator after first trying to help me fix it myself via email. It turned out the fan needed to be replaced, but once he came out, he diagnosed the problem quickly, got the fan, replaced it and voila----all works like new. Reasonably priced, no drama, honest and friendly. In brief, highly recommended! read more

Scott fixed our dishwasher today and I was so grateful not just for the excellent, reasonably priced service, but also for his professional, positive, and helpful attitude. It's just not that common to come away from an interaction with a repair person actively smiling. But I learned a lot from him about how dishwashers work, how to prevent these kinds of problems in the future, and possibly how to fix it myself next time, should I be so motivated. I found myself trying to think of other appliance problems I had in the house so that I could make use of his services again! read more

Scott was the only appliance repair person who answered my e-mail promptly. When he came he was helpful and knowledgeable and did what he could right away for our oven door problem, gave me the info for ordering the hinges we need, and showed me how/ encouraged me to put them in myself when they arrived rather than calling him. Great attitude, and I will definitely call him for future appliance repair. read more

This was one of the best experiences I've ever had with something breaking in my house and someone fixing it. Scott's such a pro; he immediately knew what was wrong with my Bosch dishwasher and he fixed it in no time at all, coming in under his estimate. He's obviously been doing this for a long time and seems to enjoy getting things to work, which is cool -- nice to have someone in your kitchen who enjoys what they're doing! Now I know the right person to call if something goes wrong with an appliance -- and that is no small thing. Thanks so much, Scott! read more

He came over within an hour of contacting him and not only fixed the dishwasher that would not drain, but also gave me advice on some other household fixit jobs. Very kind, courteous and professional. I liked that I knew how much it would cost ($95) - other places say they can't tell me what the price will be until after they come to my house and charge the service fee! read more

After an unsuccessful attempt to clear up the clog in my dishwasher drain, I contacted Scott. He promptly replied and was very helpful in giving me a diagnosis of what he thought was wrong. Then after reviewing the diagram of my GE Profile dishwasher, he realized it wasn't a certain replacement part needed, but possibly a really clogged up drain or a broken impeller. He needed to come over to fix it and asked me what time works best for me that following Wednesday. I said that Wednesday doesn't work and the next day worked better. I also added that since I work in San Jose and live in Oakland, I can do appt times for first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon. He replied back and asked asked if a 12:30pm time works on that following Wed...which I already said both day and time do not work for me. I even offered a Saturday and every weekday the following week for appt times. No reply from Scott. Then, I looked up his Yelp ad and noticed he put up an Announcement saying he was out for a week. Since I believed his Yelp Reviews, I decided to wait it out and see this through with him. After a week, I followed up again and asked for an appt time. No response for the second time. I continued to give him the benefit of the doubt and suffered through another week with a broken dishwasher and sent another email to ask for an appt... and still no response. I sent that last email two weeks ago and I NEVER heard back. According to his Yelp ad, he is currently back in business. Therefore, I can't recommend Scott for his in-accountability or ownership to follow up with customers. read more

I found Scott on Craigslist and then saw the great reviews on Yelp. He's awesome! The washer at my rental property was not spinning and he came out to fix it even though it was out of his area. He told me up front that he would have to charge a little more for his driving time but he came out right away and fixed the problem. I was really impressed that he went to the parts store and bought all these different parts and was ready to fix my washer. I've had other service people come by to fix other things and they would take forever because they wouldn't have the right parts or just came unprepared. Scott came fully prepared, diagnosed the problem and fixed my washer fast!!! Great work and very professional. I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends. read more

When my dryer broke I looked up appliance repairs on yelp. Scott gets high marks from most people that have written reviews. It all looked good at first - he answered the phone promptly and followed through with a phone call later asking me to e-mail him specific information on my dryer. I called him back and advised him I would e-mail the info asap, which I did. No reply that day or the next. Called and left a message, no reply. Now two days later I called a different repair person who came promptly and did excellent work (Hi-Tech Appliance). Then - surprise - I got a return e-mail from Scott. I told him he had lost the job and his explanation of what was wrong with my dryer had been way off from what needed to be repaired. read more

Scott is a good resource for dummies and self fixers alike. I take great joy in collecting his advice and sending him a gratuity. He's a good man, and I hope I meet him someday. read more

Great service! Scott is a friendly, responsive, reliable and knowledgeable guy. Our dishwasher had dislodged from it's base and was sitting at an angle. I reached out to multiple people over the Thanksgiving holiday. Scott was the first one to respond and schedule a date within the next week. In under an hour the dishwasher was running smoothly again, re-connected and secured in its hollow with a couple of extra bolts provided by Scott so the problem would not happen again. He was a joy to work with and very communicative throughout the whole process. I will definitely be calling him again for any future appliance needs! read more

Scott doesn't service the Alameda area, but from the conversation I had with him I was able to go back over some diagnostic steps he described and fix the problem without having to call his referral.. read more

Scott is fantastic. I contacted him a while ago about a problem with my dishwasher. He immediately responded by suggesting that I pour boiling hot water in my dishwasher and then cycle it again. I did what he suggested and it fixed my problem. Scott could have come out and charged me but instead just fixed my problem at no cost. I'm going to have him come out and fix some other issues that I have. He clearly has great integrity and knows the value of putting the client's needs first. I will only be calling Scott in the future for my appliance issues. read more

I hired Scott to fix my Miele dishwasher. He arrived on time and diagnosed the problem in short manner, an issue with the fill valve. He replaced the part in an ingenious way, not with the $200 factory version, but with a $40 valve that had to be custom fit. He is very friendly and courteous, I couldn't recommend him more. Prior to the visit, he had sent me a couple of YouTube videos from his extensive library of self-made fixit videos to see if that could solve the problem. But the problem was more intricate, so I had him come and fix it. I am very happy to have found Scott, especially since it is difficult to find appliance repair folks who will work on Miele, because of their policy to only sell parts on line from their site. The cost was very reasonable and he left me with the assurance that if I had any further problems with the repair, he would come back for no charge. read more

After reading the good reviews I left two voicemails, sent one email, and never heard back.

I contacted this guy a week ago and I made an appointment with him. A week ahead and when the day came he ask me for the address and when I told him. He said I was out of his service area. Wow. You couldn't tell me that when I made the appointment? I couldn't wash my cloths for a whole week because of this guy. read more

Scott was amazing! Not only was he prompt, personable, and proficient, but he quickly resolved the problem that I was having with my dishwasher, and then was willing and able to repair a second appliance--an old but beloved convection oven that I was previously told was "doomed"! When I proceeded to ask about a problem with my Wedgewood stove, he suggested a local company that specializes in repairing old stoves--which turned out to be a great find! All this at a very reasonable price. Thank you, Scott and thank you, Yelp! It was a very lucky day for me! read more

Scott did a great job navigating me via email through a problem with our Miele dishwasher. The dishwasher would intermittently stop with a drain error near the end of the first rinse cycle. His approach was quite methodical: send him a picture of the where the drain hose goes into the garbage disposal, to see if it was overly kinked; then check the air gap for blockage; then try without the air gap. All things I could do easily, with the last one being the solution. read more

Scott responded promptly to initial inquiry, arrived right at scheduled time, diagnosed and fixed problem (worn out coils -- he had brought the replacement parts) with gas dryer, for a very reasonable charge. Oiled and checked out machine and vent while he was at it. Nice guy and professional. Highly recommend. read more

Scott returned my phone call right. He was flexible in getting to my home asap and not only fixed our washing machine, he taught me how to problem solve if the same situation occurs. Thx! read more

I'm rating Scott the Fix It Guy as "Woohoo! As good as it gets." He rates a cut above all the rest. My european dishwasher is a good one -- it economizes on water and runs quietly, and it's only been serviced twice in 18 years. Scott went over the entire appliance to find out not just what was wrong with it, but what might go wrong. On his advice I ordered two small parts from the manufacturer; and he took the time to demo how to slip the parts into place once they arrive. He also installed an after-market replacement part that works just fine and saved me several hundred dollars over the brand-name part. No other technician I know has his philosophy of assistance first by troubleshooting (email, photos) to get to the heart of the problem. Scott helped me save time and money, and most importantly, he fixed the appliance expertly. He is also prompt, courteous, and considerate; and he was kind to my too eager puppy dog who couldn't contain his curiosity about our visitor working on the floor. Without hesitation I recommend Scott for appliance repair. read more

Scott's YouTube video guided me (age 68) to fix my Miele dishwasher!! What a generous kind offering! Thank you so much! Miele tech rep had told me to pull the dishwasher out (not easy) and tip it to dump out any water accumulated in bottom pan (that had activated float switch and made DW drain pump run constantly). But I found Scott's YouTube channel and followed his excellent step-by-step guidance. I am so grateful! Highly recommend!! read more

Scott is wonderful. He was on time, friendly, and professional. His prices are very reasonable. He did a great job fixing my dishwasher. He got it working and then it malfunctioned a week later and he came back to fix at no cost. Now it's all better. He also let me watch what he was doing so I could learn and do it myself the next time. I've tried a bunch of different handyman and appliance repair people and Scott was the best. read more

Scott is very fast, professional and for a very decent price. A very nice guy who we will make sure to call again as soon as another appliance breaks! read more

I contacted Scott because of all the GREAT reviews. I came home on Christmas eve, and my washer was broken. (OK, my fault....I turned off the water before leaving, and then my daughter ran the washer with no water running). The door was stuck closed, the washer would no longer work, and my daughter's clothes were inside and she is leaving for college today (the day after Christmas). Oh boy, what to do. I contacted Scott by email late on Christmas eve night, and had a reply within a couple hours (On Christmas eve, no less) He told me some things to try. I wrote him back on Christmas, and he told me how to get the door open so I could get the things out. It all worked, and now my washer is working again, and we were able to do laundry on Christmas, so my daughter can get ready to leave today. If he can make things work on such a crazy holiday as Christmas, he can help you anytime. I am so very impressed and thankful to know about such an incredible guy. Thank you Scott, and I hope you had a very Merry Christmas. In the future, you are my go-to guy for help. read more

Maybe he's great at repairs, but if he doesn't bother to return phone calls, how can I give more than 1 star?

I have to say, Scott was super awesome hands down! I usually wait to write my reviews after a service to make sure the appliances are working correctly and any problems that may occur are resolved. First of all I have to say, communication through email was super quick and easy. After the first service on my dryer, I was so impressed I actually had Scott fix a couple of other appliances in the house too! His pricing is fair and he does good work with care. I'll definitely be using him again and I've passed his info on to local friends too. I think you know a good, honest guy when you meet one and Scott the fix it guy was the real deal. Thank you Scott! :D read more

Our 20-year old Maytag Neptune washer's door locked with a load inside and many more to do. I emailed Scott for an appointment and briefly described the problem. He promptly emailed me back with a couple of suggestions for fixes to try, and one of them worked!! Wow -- when have you ever had a repair guy solve a problem over email? I figured I was looking at a $100+ service call. Offered to pay him but he declined. Will definitely call him when something else breaks! read more

Hands down the best service call experience I have ever had. Scott answered my email and text inquiry promptly, even though they were sent after hours on Thursday. He scheduled an appointment for that Saturday, and showed up on time. Unlike most repair people, who try to immediately get you to replace a part so they can charge more, he fixed my washing machine pump within the hour and charged a very reasonable price for the service call, and my washer works as good as new. When I mentioned that my next call to him would likely be for my garbage disposal, he described to me a quick fix to try that often works when these seize up. No way any other fix it person would do this!! Most would keep this tip a secret in hopes of getting to charge a service call fee for an easy 1 minute fix. Scott is a top of the line repairman-- friendly, skilled, and honest. I am breathing easier just knowing I now have the number of the best fix it guy in town, and I will be passing on his name to all my Facebook friends too. Thanks Scott the Fix it Guy!!! read more
