My sons have been with Dr. Fishman since he started his practice in Lakewood. I followed him to Downey at his amazing new location. His staff is top notch and always friendly. The commute is worth it as he has always provided me with payment options to ensure I could afford braces for my oldest. One time the wait was unusually long and he didn't charge for sealants (@ $46 each) and kept apologizing for the wait. He loves nothing more than to help his patients. He is not only a good dentist but a solid person! I trust him and know that in the 13 years he has put my boys health first; with no gimmicks, no pressuring, and never anything unnecessary. Dr. Fishman is Amazing! He truly cares about his patients and it shows through his work! I brought my kids here because I was horrified on how much their previous doctor was going to charge me. Dr. Fishman has been my 3 daughters' dentist for the past 3 years. He is awesome and very patient. Office is very clean and front office is very welcoming. My 5 yr had cavities and I was nervous regarding treatment bc of prior experiences with my oldest daughter at another place but here it's not the case! They do everything possible to make sure she was calm before starting. She didn't cry one bit!!!! One happy girl makes mommy happy! I really thought I wrote a review of Dr Fishman years ago so this long overdue. This is the third dentist my daughter went to by the time she was 4 or 5. The fist one didn't find the cavity I knew she had. They also scared her and threatened her by saying if she didn't stop crying they were going to make me leave. She was only crying because instead of cleaning her teeth they sat there and talked to a co worker and dropped all the instruments and made my daughter wait too long. The second dentist was an emergency visit when she and her cousin bumped heads and my daughter ended up with a loose front tooth. The dentist was great and patient but my daughter was just too scared to let her do much and she recommended a pediatric dentist that would orally sedate . I see that dentist now. I set off on yelp and my insurance to cross reference who had good reviews and who my insurance accepted. That's how we found Dr Fishman. From the beginning I knew he was going to be perfect. He was extremely nice and patient and the office was child friendly with a tv playing Disney cartoons and video games and tvs on the ceiling of the treatment rooms. He immediately found the cavity I knew she had but it had started to abscess so he made a next day appointment for extraction, basically a baby root canal. She got oral sedation when we got there and then we waited for it to take affect while we watched cartoons. When she was clearly intoxicated and we got enough videos of her Dr Fishman came to get her and we took her to the treatment room, strapped her down on a Papoose board so she was safe and got to work. She has a small mouth but regular size teeth so she had to get teeth pulled to make room for her new teeth all the time. She had spaces put in to keep the spaces open, cavities filled and later braces. It took a few years for her to finally be comfortable going to the dentist and even get a cleaning but she eventually did and I can't be happier. She's 16 now, almost 17 and she's had many things done but no cavities for years now and her teeth are beautiful. I can't thank or recommend Dr Fishman enough. read more

I just have to share a wonderful experience that I had with Dr. Fishman and his assistant, Elizabeth who is truly amazing. My 12 year old son had a scooter accident and knocked out his front permanent tooth. It was a week day at 7:45 pm. In a scared panic, not sure what to do. I called Dr. Fishman's office and was able to get in touch with Dr. Fishman personally, who advised me to put the tooth in milk and said he would meet me back at his office with his assistant by 8:45 pm. Absolutely blown away! I wish I could give 10 out of 10. I was referred to Dr. Fishman from a pediatric dentist in my hometown. I live in Palmdale, 63 miles away. Since being on the stay at home order we haven't been able to contact our dentist or any other dentist that would take my daughters emergency case. Dr. Fishman answered their phones ready, after I had been waiting 2 months trying to desperately find someone to help. We were able to get an appointment within 2 days! When we got there, every single person was exceptionally friendly, greeting us with a Good Morning! They're office had a fantastic system for covid-19 that made me feel safe and clean in a sanitized environment. Social distancing and masks were worn by all and parents waited for their kids from the comfort of their cars. When we were needed or updated, the Dr.'s personally walked out to the cars to address us. It was amazing! Just that little added touch of care, blew me away. We did x-rays, the consultation, and went right into her appointment to get her on her way to feeling better, which was such a relief! My daughter, being 4 and her first dentist appointment, got scared and became a little difficult in her chair, Dr. Fishman allowed me to go in there and calm her down so that we could continue our appointment that we needed so desperately. He addressed all of my concerns and made sure all of my questions were answered. The quality of care for his patients makes you feel like family. He and his staff are extremely good with children. I drove 1 1/2 hours and 63 miles for this appointment and it was completely worth it! Dr Fishman l, and his team, have been caring for my children's dental health for over a year now and I couldn't be happier with their gentle care for my children. They're a group of composed professionals that are expedient, loving and efficient when dealing from the most easiest to the most difficult cases. People think that i am crazy for driving from Riverside to Downey ( hour +) away. BUT this has been my sons only dentist and my son has never had any dental pain after have several teeth pulled. Just recently he had 6 teeth pulled to make room for his adult teeth . He did not go in scared because he know Dr. Fishman from previous visits . Dr. Fishman has always been very honest and informative to what he was going to do, My son would ask questions and Dr. Fishman and his staff would answer in plain terminology so a 6 year old could understand. After each visit he goes home with a toothbrush, dental floss and mouth wash and of course stickers . On our drive home (Hour +) my son usually falls asleep in the car but wakes up like NOTHING happened. We went to two other dentists before settling on Dr. Fishman. He was professional, careful, great with our son, reasonably priced, and did an excellent job. Dr Fishman went beyond what was required to make sure that we knew everything we needed to in order to make a proper decision and did not suggest any unneeded work. We just came from our "belated" visit for the kids..we had an emergency trip overseas so we had to skip the 6 month checkup (right before we left)..sorry Dr. Fishman..and then we forgot when we got back..for some reason I thought we went..so needless to say, it was almost a year since their last check-up..:( My kids tend to get this gradual brownish tinge on their teeth, but the staff at Dr. Fishman always does a great job with removing it..it's all about the pumice..lol BUT, we came back last week and all was still well, except that my little one will need to get braces (but we kinda' knew that already from previous discussions with Dr. F)..good thing is that we got to meet Dr. Gibson, Orthodontist, and he gave us the 411. Dr. Gibson is a really nice guy and takes his time in explaining everything in detail and his recommendations. He is more reserved than Dr. Fishman, but just as sincere. What I really enjoy about going to Dr. Fishman is that everyone is happy and the staff are so friendly everytime. I was referred here by my general dentist because I have 2 little ones (5 years old). The first thing I did was looked at the yelp reviews and that convinced me. I called and spoke to Jacky she was very nice and although we had a few issues with my insurance she was very patient and helpful over the phone. I scheduled an appointment for my 2 sons. The day I went in the ladies in the front were awsome. Jacky, Irma and Noha. They answered all my questions. Especially when I had concerns about xrays for my children. The wait time was very reasonable. Unfortunately I do not remember the person who assisted with the xrays but she was very nice, sweet, gentle and very patient, she really made the boys feel comfortable. When it was time to see the Dr. She was great. She was very nice and made the boys comfortable. She answered all my questions and let me say I had many. Finally my son got his teeth cleaned by Maricela who was great with him. I would highly recommend this place. They are great with kids. This was my first time and it was a great experience. Dr. Fishman's Office is extremely busy and popular. Every staff member that we've met from the front desk to the back operations area is professional, always smiling and very understanding of the children that come in through their doors. However there is only one thing that you should know when coming to such a well established and popular place. The wait time can truly give you the worst experience if the staff didn't make up for it with their smiles. I took my daughter for a teeth extraction, assuming it was a quick process. We arrived before our appointment at 10:30am and were seen at 12:40pm only to be informed that the oral sedative would take another hour before we could be seen for the procedure which really took less than 15 minutes. Now just so you know, my daughter is 5 yrs old and was within reason fasting for this procedure so she had been starving all day. It was heartbreaking to watch and absolutely sad to be in this situation. She cried the entire day asking for food, but we were there simply waiting for almost 3hrs. I'm not sure if this is reasonable because I've waited in the pediatricians office for atleast an hour, but I feel any wait beyond 2hrs is physically painful to anyone with children. And it's pretty bad for the child as well. In this case I have 3. So I have been to this office 5 times with my children and each time we wait for no less than an hour outside and another 20min-30min inside. So if you have to go for dental care here it's best to plan to be excused from school either the entire day or to not have any plans with a set time. Another piece of information is that Dr. Fishman himself has never treated my children, he only checks their teeth and gives recommendations and then his staff member or another contracted Dr. will do the actual dental work. This always baffles me but thankfully the team of professionals here are all wonderful. They receive 3 stars for being accommodating and professional, but 1 star deduction is for the long 2 hrs we wait every time we come visit and for what I deem is a less conservative approach to pediatric dental care. I would also deduct another star for my personal experience with Dr. Fishman but in all fairness he does run a good establishment, my personal views on the practice can't make a complete judgment to give 3 stars. Finally in terms of their position in dental treatment, some establishments are conservative and some are very aggressive with treatment and in this case I think they are the more aggressive establishment. With my experience here it seems the very first thing offered for the younger children is sedation and/or general anesthesia. Dr. Fishman will not consider multiple procedures to get the job done at his establishment and will opt for having your child sedated for an hour to get everything done all at once. Admittedly it's convenient for both parties and science has proven that the procedures and the hired private anesthesiologists on site can make you feel more secure to leave your child in their hands, but once again medicine is "practice" and the pediatric neurologist that we've spoken to has recommended to not sedate children this young for any reason unless medically necessary and life threatening because the damage done is irreversible at this young age and medicine is still just a practice with changes every day or few decades. So what is considered possibly safe now isn't truly safe once more data comes out. For this reason, I was left with a taste of slight bitterness. I quote Dr. Fishman "I can not help a child if the mother denies treatment!!!" Simply quoted because I was not an advocate for general anesthesia. Everyone has to make their own deductions and even though I let my child get sedated for the first procedure she had (before I met a neurologist), this second procedure for tooth extraction was luckily just laughing gas. It seems this place is much too big and popular for small fry patients that might take up more time and I was accused of being a mother who denies her child treatment by Dr. Fishman. I will probably continue to come here for my daughter as most parents who bring their children since our records are already conveniently here. But if I know a better more conservative place, I'm sure their wait time would be even more worth it for me to change. Also overall experience for the cleanliness of facility, entertainment with iPad on the walls and movies playing in every room can improve the experience for the children. And that's what we're really paying for here. Children are less likely afraid of the dentist at this place but will wake up in a daze. Note: I forgot to mention that prior to this visit I had scheduled for all 3 children to have a teeth cleaning but Dr. Fishman refused to do the teeth cleaning unless I had agreed to treatment. So in a sense you can feel strong armed and guilted into sedating your child for cavity fillings or baby root canals. read more

Where do I began , my daughter came to dr Fishman for dental work when she was 3 and they were great then. They are truly amazing at this office and dr Fishman is heaven sent. In between dealing with insurance and her being seen at other offices she developed an abscess in her gums. I called dr Fishman office in hopes and prayer that she could be seen within the week , well they got her in for a consult the next day. He saw her and gave her antibiotics and got her in the next day for procedure under sedation. They were so patient and understanding. If your really anxious about finding the best care for your child, Dr. Fishman is amazing and the best choice. My 3yo is terrified to go to any doctors office, but staff made him feel so comfortable. Dr. Fishman is very detailed about explaining procedures, so he allowed for me to record him so I can play over for my husband. You can tell he has a passion for what he does and wants to make sure you and your child are comfortable. My son had 2 small cavities to fill, I was a little nervous about not being allowed in the room during the procedure (it was my first time leaving him anywhere without me), but Dr.Fishman was very reassuring, and when I left the room my son quickly ask to hold Roxannas, the assistant, hand and she was delighted to do so. Due to Covid I had to wait in my car, they txted me during his procedure to let me know progress and then Dr. Fishman personally came to get me, and told me my son did amazing! Our family loves Dr. Fishman. He's been our kids dentist from their very first dental visit. Over the years we have had to do some fillings and unfortunately even crowns. I am so confident in Dr. Fishmans work. The staff is great. Very prompt with insurance verification and calling for follow up appointments. The office is very clean, well designed and of course they have games, iPads on the walls, a TV and books to entertain the kids. Dr. Fishman is very communicative and always asks if we understand & agree with the treatment plans. He has always made himself reachable should we have a dental emergency.
