Found this place on yelp and the reviews match the service. Everyone was friendly and informational and it was a quick process from beginning to end. We took our 2 year old daughter for her first dentist appointment and it was relieving to see how easy Dr. Fishman made the experience. Our daughter just got a cleaning and flossing, and some fluoride at the end. They gave her stickers and a toothbrush, toothpaste, and some floss picks to take home. Wow! I have a 15 month old and she had her first appt today. Was the best experience I could have imagined for a little one. Everyone on staff was so kind and Dr. Fishman was awesome! He did his best to make sure my daughter was as comfortable and happy as a 1yo could be during their first dental appt. He listened and was kind in his suggestions in caring for my daughters teeth (because she has a lot)! The office was clean and sanitary which is obviously a priority! So imagine being quarantined with a child who has tooth pain... and on a Saturday! YIKES! Our regular dentist couldn't be found so I started calling all over town. Dr. Fishman called me back within 10 minutes! He was able to take our emergency case (which ended up being an extraction). They were professional and quick. There was only 1 child in the back at a time while parents waited in the car. My daughter was in and out in about 45 minutes. She raved about Dr. Fishman and the TVs in the office. Best of all, she said that she didn't feel a thing! She was convinced that he didn't use any needles on her at all (even though I know he did). After going to two other dentist, we ended up here after one horrible experience and second one not so good. Thankful to my wife's co-worker(thanks Gina!) ** BEWARE Dentist office is a swindler *** My daughter had appointment with them on 10/11 for regular check up &cleaning. We were told by Dr.Fishman, she needed major work due to two teeth badly decayed and two other needing crowns. Well Dr. Fishman quickly looked over what was needed which seem a little rushed overview. He stated that she need this work done immediately due to how badly her two teeth were, I understood the importance of the situation but wanted to know my out of pocket cost. He stated Medi-cal cover everything except sedation which is $330. I just drove here from another state that morning to see them wasn't given any kind of leniency. So with that information given i declined for her to be scheduled for Monday which required $100 deposit. I contacted few dentists in the area we were going to take us for duration of our stay . I had my daughter seen by a dentist 5 minutes away oppose to them being 20 mins away. I scheduled appointment with the new dentist and told them my situation and insurance information. The receptionist informed me with Medi-cal or any insurance which i have Delta is covered for sedation there is no co-pay, i had her repeat herself 2x's, as I couldn't believe a dentist i almost was going for three years was going to give $330 to get the exact same work done i really felt at that moment that Dr. Fishman office was trying to swindle me. I immediately scheduled with new dentist and decided if they see the same work, I'll stop seeing Dr.Fishman due to lack of accommodation for my situation for being out of state patient, charging me for service that's covered under insurance plan. I feel as though they lack knowledge with insurance benefits, maybe they overcharging due to Covid loss, remodeling of the facility, etc . I believe if people do not research dentists in other areas locally they would maybe realize this one is getting over on people. read more

The best experience with a pediatric dentist ever! I am a mother of two and I know how difficult my child could be and how hard it is to keep him still but Dr. Fishman and his team were absolutely amazing! Dr. Fishman himself walked out of his building to talk to me personally while I was waiting outside not once but three time. Most doctors would just usually send their nurses or have you walk back into the office. I couldn't thank him enough for not throwing in the towel and having my son go somewhere else (Which that has happened to us before with other dentists). I'll start off by saying clearly many people have good experiences here. All the good reviews are what led to me bringing my 5yo daughter in for an evaluation. We were pretty sure she needed treatment and this place seemed to be an all around good pediatric dentist that people 'trust'. There's the key word. Trust. Now, I'm not one to leave bad reviews unless I feel they are truly deserved but I can tell you I left this place not feeling good about what I was told my out of pocket expense would be. At our visit they told me my daughter needed a good amount of cavities filled (10 to be precise) which was not too surprising but they immediately put it out there that many insurance co.'s do not cover white fillings. Really...? I thought to myself... I'm no expert in insurance adjustments but in the back of my head I figured it couldn't be too expensive right? I carry the top tier Insurance PPO plan my company offers so I wasn't too concerned. They told me they would give me two estimates; one for silver fillings and one for white fillings. The dentist mentioned that they preferred to get all the work done in one visit and due to how many cavities my daughter had they would need to sedate her. Everything sounded fine and just before we left they brought over the two estimates. Approx. $400 for silver fillings and $1,300 for white fillings! Both estimates included the ~$300 cost of sedation. My eyes nearly popped out of my head but since I didn't know any better I just thought, well, no white fillings for these baby teeth that are going to fall out anyways... I scheduled an appointment and we went on our way. When I got home I was still blown away by how much this was going to cost me even with my high option dental plan. This prompted me to look into what was specified in the estimates they gave me. The estimate for silver fillings appeared fair and in line with my coverage levels according to my insurance co.'s website but the questionable charges were on the estimate for white fillings. I noted they did show I was covered for white fillings at 90% but then I noticed that for each tooth they had a misc. charge at $95 per filling. I looked up the ins. code they used and it came up as Unspecified and Not Covered by insurance. I called the office to question this and they told me they would have the dentist call me back to explain what it was. When the dentist finally called she explained it as a sealant, blah, blah, not covered by insurance, yada yada yada. I didn't feel convinced. I started digging further into past reviews and found other people had similar complaints about insurance coverage with this office and them claiming that insurance co.'s don't cover white fillings. I called my insurance co. myself and asked about white fillings being covered and they said yes, I was covered at 90% and they had no visibility into the procedure this office was charging me for that was not covered by the insurance. I decided to cancel the appt. we made and sought a 2nd opinion. To cut short an already long story, I found an excellent dentist who gave me a trustworthy estimate for the same work and we got the white fillings completed without the strange miscellaneous insurance codes in our cost share. Basically, I am going to pay less for white fillings than I would have paid for silver fillings at this office. 1) Because they are not charging me for Unspecified charges they can't validate through the insurance co. and 2) We are foregoing the sedation with spaced out visits to complete the work. Bottom line is, trust your gut. If you come here and something doesn't feel right, question it. I am so glad I did because had I not, I would have ended up with a child with a mouth full of silver or I would have been out over $1k vs. what the new dentist quoted me. read more

We took one of our twin boys to this dentist office for an emergency visit. We were really impressed with the staff, especially Dr. Carrillo. Everyone made us feel very welcomed. Just left this dentist for my sons appointment. This place will have you sign treatment plan before procedures are even done and then tell you one of the services isn't needed after all. After my sons procedure i asked to see the summary again and the receptionist rudely said "the one you already signed ?" I said yes a spacer wasn't needed after all and she said "well there's no co pay" I said just because i don't have a co pay dosent mean you guys can charge for something that wasn't actually done. Aside from that the dr did a good job but unfortunately this place does not have my trust after todays incident. How many times do they get away with billing insurances for things that wernt done? The young girl in the front looked angry that she had to re print the corrected summary and have me re sign. She didn't even greet us when we first walked in. Well what can I say about Dr. Scott Fishman and his wonderful staff from the front desk to all the dentist, this team is amazing. My children have been going here since they were born pretty much And what a wonderful decision my wife and I made. This office has gone above and beyond for our family and I'm sure for all patients. This is one of many reasons that even after we moved from California to Texas, we decide to STILL continue to bring our children here. This is the only dentist I've brought my three boys to see. We have been coming here for over 7 years and luckily my boys were blessed with good teeth that they don't get much work done. The reason for the 2 stars is because this dentist IS a business. They recommend you do this and that for your child's oral health but the way they do it is almost like a sales pitch. I'm almost left fearful if I don't agree to complete all the things they recommend. As of today, I'm looking for a new dentist for my boys. Best pediatric dentist EVER! We have been going to Dr. Fishman for 17 years and are extremely happy to count on him as our children's dentist. First, his facility is a stand alone building, which eliminates that cold hospital feel. The site presents more like a home and offers a warm welcome from the start. There is attention to every detail from the floor to the ceiling and the fish theme that runs throughout the clinic, is just the cutest. TVs on the ceiling are a nice touch and definitely help distract our kids during their exams. The facility certainly makes a great first impression, but Dr. Fishman blows it out of the water with his bedside manner. First, he always enters the room with the biggest smile, which instantly puts everyone at ease. Then, he treats our kids like family referring to them as, "angel, sweetheart," and praising them as they go through their procedure. Let me start by THANKING Dr.Fishman for his patience and understanding of my fears and resistance. I feel like I was a hands full and some. But let's explain why my emotions where off the wall. In short, I have an autoimmune disorder that has created a tremendous havoc. I am more fearful than I have ever been towards medications and toxins that can interfere with our health. Because of my experience, I've put off completing today's dental work on my daughter's teeth. As many frightened parents, I was extremely nervous and super anxious to the point I had cancelled my daughter's procedures (extractions, fillings, and expanders) several times. Sedation, medications and certain procedures is a hard topic to bear with at this time. But After going to several 2nd opinions, I knew I had to get this done by Dr. Fishman himself. From the moment I entered the office not only did the wonder staff but Dr. Fishman helped console my uncontrollable tears and went over and beyond to help my anxieties! Thank you SO MUCH for answering my continual questions, being patience with my drastic several change of plan, helping with my financial circumstances, and constantly checking on me! Best Pediatric Dentist around! We began going to Dr. Fishman a year ago for our three girls. He was recommended when our youngest daughter was evaluated by a "so called" Pediatric Dentist in our area. He was unable to seek treatment for her decaying teeth, which was due to prolonged breastfeeding. We live in OC, and when it was recommended to go to Downey, we hesitated. But, after doing some research we felt comfortable taking the drive and scheduled all three girls. This was pre-covid, and we were impressed with the facility, staff, and most of all Dr. Fishman. He takes the time to talk, explain, and makes you feel comfortable with any treatment, whether treatment is needed immediately or it can wait. In regards to our youngest, he made some recommendations which were difficult for my wife to accept, but overall it was for the best. He advised for her to comeback when she turns two, which we did on 7/13/20. After her evaluation, he insisted an appointment was made immediately and found one a week later, since there still wasn't any immediate pain. Although, we were unable to physically be in the room with our daughter, Dr. Fishman came out in the parking lot to talk to us, explain the procedures, and even talk a little about his own girls. From one #girldad to another he made us feel extremely comfortable throughout the entire process. Our daughter, now has an even more beautiful smile. To sum it all up, we even received a follow up call the same evening from Dr. Fishman himself asking how our daughter was doing. If I could rate this office 10 stars, I definitely would! I used to work for a pediatric dentist for a few years and it is a huge relief to have found an office that feels like"home" walking in I was immediately greeted by the front staff even though they had 2 families checking out. Once we were done checking in my 20 month old daughter we were offered to sit in the play area where my daughter was greeted by 2 little girls who were excited to be there (huge plus for me) we waited about 5 minutes before being called into our room and shortly after were greeted by Dr. Chris and let me tell you, this man exceeded my expectations! I loved that he was very informative and walked me through the entire visit. Of course my daughter cried a bit being this was her first visit but the dental assistant who brushed her teeth did an amazing job! She also walked me through the process before beginning and I was very pleased with how encouraging she was with my daughter. If you're looking around for a pediatric dentist, I would highly recommend Dr. Fishman. My four-year old son needed to have a specific procedure done and the time it took my insurance company to authorize it- made it get to the point where he was in serious pain. By that time, for the seriousness of the procedure and the necessity for him to be put under- the next appointment was more than a month away. It was heartbreaking to imagine him having endure such pain for a day, much less a month. So, I called Dr. Fishman's office and told them my situation and the pain my son was in and they had us come in as soon as possible. He took one look at my son and went out of his way to schedule the oral procedure the very next day! Even though he was already booked. He told me he would stay later to do it, to keep my phone by me if there were any cancellations, that he'd take my little guy asap. Words cannot express how relieved and grateful I was! You know, I couldn't help but express my concern for him and his team, that it would be asking a lot of them. That it would make for a very long day for them. He adamantly told me he could tell my son was in pain and didn't want him to suffer any longer than necessary. End of story. He'd fit him in- no matter what... Simply amazing.
