I hate leaving a bad review but I feel other parents should know. I took my son (nearly 4) in for…read morehis first visit. Dr Fiktarz popped up on my insurance plan's list and it was close. I'd heard a few negative reviews about him but also a few recommendations but decided to try anyway. Well, I wish I would have listened! My son was very apprehensive about the visit even though we have been SUPER positive about dental matters, we bought books about dentist visits of various characters, we have been talking about visiting the dentist and getting a prize. My son is very bright and extremely sensitive. We arrived and his receptionist and assistant were very patient and kind. The one star is for them. The office is very dated and a little creepy looking, but again I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. No colors, no obvious indication that he specializes in pediatric dentistry. We got into the exam room and my son started to cry. I asked Dr Fiktarz if I could sit in the chair with him and he said "no". He was kind of cold and immediately wanted my son to lie down to count his teeth. My son was crying loudly but I kneeled next to him and held his hand, reassuring him. The dentist then put both his hands on my son's shoulders to hold him down, trying to ask him how old he was and count his teeth aloud. My son is still screaming and can't calm down. This stranger just forced him to lie down and shoved his fingers in his mouth! Then Dr Fiktarz, with zero explanation to my son, picked up the mirror tool to look into his mouth. My son's screams grew from upset to PANIC, as any mom can tell, and Dr Fiktarz then goes and begins to use his entire body to hold my toddler down. I immediately went to pick up my son and comfort him. Now, I'm already annoyed because this doctor has ZERO ability to deal with small kids. THEN he proceeded to criticize my parenting, saying that I made it worse by picking him up and comforting him. I told him I know my child and I know when he's in a panic, and he needed me to comfort him, not watch as a stranger physically restrains him to put a tool in his mouth!! He then tells me he's been doing this for 40 years, and that I reinforced the "behavior" and I said that didn't matter because I know my son best. The fact that he thinks panic is a "behavior" shows he needs to retire. My son is 3 and a half. He doesn't fake panic! No child does! After all that, he didn't even try to get my son to try again or offer him a treat. In short, I absolutely do not recommend this dentist. At all. He's awful at pediatric dentistry.

The front office is kid friendly with cute kids furniture and iPads the kids can use while they wait. My son has autism and when I mentioned this to them they informed me they would make a note so that when we went in to see the dentist they could take a bit longer with my son trying to get him comfortable with the dentist and the instruments. Something else that was very important for us was privacy since we had previously been to another kids dentist that had an open chair concept with multiple chairs right next to each other and my son became scared while waiting and watching the other kids get work done. This is more like a traditional adult dentist where they have individual rooms with open door concept so the staff can come in and out of the room but the patient still gets a sense of privacy. The service was equally great they are very patient and understanding of his autism.

The doctors took the time to clearly explain the treatment plan before proceeding, and the staff kept me updated throughout the process about what was going on with my child. After the procedure, they even assisted us to the car since my child was under general anesthesia, which I really appreciated. They also provided clear post-operative instructions. Overall, we felt well cared for from start to finish.

The dentists have always done great work, and I have no complaints about the quality of the dental treatment itself. My issue is with the billing and front office. In the early months of 2026, I went in for our routine cleaning. I've been bringing my family to this office since 2023, and during that visit I was suddenly told I owed $85 for services dating back to 2023, 2024, and 2025. My question is: why am I just now hearing about this years later? Every time we visit, the front office makes sure payment is collected before we leave. You don't walk out without settling your balance. They told me this balance was discovered during an audit, but that explanation doesn't make much sense when these charges supposedly go back several years. To make matters worse, I now receive frequent calls from their collection company, and the amount isn't even consistent. Sometimes they say I owe $85, and other times it's $87.75. Which amount is actually correct? I typically pay with cash, so it's frustrating to suddenly be told I owe money years after the fact. I don't know whether there was a bookkeeping error or something else happened, but the billing process has been handled very poorly. Being contacted by collections over a balance that was never brought to my attention at the time of service is both frustrating and unprofessional. The dental care deserves praise, but the billing practices have left me questioning whether I can continue bringing my family here. I hope the office improves its accounting and communication so other patients don't experience the same.
