Corn dog with a small side of fries. Always my go-to.

Scooter's has been around for as long as I can remember. It's a great taste of Chicago way up on the North Shore. I almost always get a corndog and a serving of fries. I don't go there too often, usually only if I happen to be home. I don't want to get tired of it. It's too good for that. Growing up we'd always have lunch here after we picked out our Christmas tree next door at Angelo's Liquors. This is definitely my all time favorite place to grab a hotdog.

The #1 value combo (hot dog)

Definitely a cute little shop that sells a good selection of hot dogs, burgers, and gyros. From what I've seen, there isn't too much around North Chicago, but I wanted to visit somewhere with good hot dogs. Searched the area, and Scooters popped up. I got the #1, which is a Chicago-style hot dog, fries, and a drink. The Chicago-dog was pretty standard: pickle on top, small peppers, onions, and mustard. The bun though definitely made the hot dog top notch. It was a poppy seed bun that was so soft and tasty. The fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and reminded me of Five Guy Fries. As for the drink, I got a Cream Soda and it was also delicious! A great solid meal for around $6. I recommend this place for anyone in the area looking for good hot dogs. Good price, good selection, good service as well! They're fast too :)

Uhhhhh... Slimey grilled onions over nacho cheese, making the whole mess less than appetising.

A good try at burgers and dogs... Just falls a little short. They have a bunch of promise but it seems like they cut every corner they could. First, cheddar cheese is a real thing. It means something specific, not just yellow stuff. Nacho cheese sauce is not cheddar cheese. So when you find your hot dog bathed in radioactive yellow cheese-like slime... it's a little disappointing. The hot dogs themselves are just ballpark Frank's or the like, nothing special. They do have a wide variety of weird specialties that seem like they might be good, but as I was in the mood for a hot dog, I was left wanting. The burger my fiance got was a from frozen patty that resembled a Dairy Queen patty. Oh, and the grilled onions? SKIP THEM! They are the slimiest and oiliest slugs of an onion I've ever encountered. They literally slide off your food, like they were trying to escape from you meal to save you from their spoiling taste. The chilli was from a can. Enough said about that. TL;DR: It's not bad necessarily, it's just not very good either.

Whenever I'm in North Chicago, I have to stop at Scooters for a Maxwell Street Polish and fries. Absolutely, the best tasting polish ever! Love the fries too, they are fresh cut and, if you aren't planning to eat in, they hold up well in takeout orders. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the food cooked to order with minimal waiting time. Wish I had a Scooter's near me!

First time here and they have an extensive menu. Lots of choices of hot dogs, hamburgers, salads,…read moreItalian beef and sausage and ice cream. We ordered a double cheeseburger meal ($11.99) with perfectly prepared Krinkle cut fries and a Gyro meal ($12.49) with those same perfect Krinkle cut fries. These meals came with drinks and we ordered mozzarella sticks as an added side (4.99). The cheeseburger is pretty ok and the gyro was really tasty. Service is friendly and quick. The dining room is not big but has a combination of tables, booths and counter seating and there is also outdoor seating. The restaurant appears to be clean and in good repair. I want to return to try some of the other menu items.

I came at 2PM on a Friday, pretty off time. Service was impeccable and restaurant and bathroom were…read moresuper clean. Whole place had a great vibe, a little more family style. I got an italian beef dipped no pepps with mozz; beef quality not good but they pack it in there so you're full by the end. The dip was interesting, I'm used to Portillos where it's a bit soggy but this was not at all, kind of nice it doesn't get everywhere but still some flavor, but maybe not enough. There's a huge amount of fries for the order that are crinkle cut and well done. And you fill the drink yourself (so free refills) but there's no lid on the styrofoam cups. Whole thing cost me $16.33; nice place, can't say I recommend this order.
