There seems to be a common thread at more coffee places, the Gen Z staredown. That was my experience at Scooters on 101st street. I went to meet a friend and have a coffee and he picked this place, why I don't know. When I came to the counter I smiled and said hello. I was greeted (or non greeted) with a pair of surly looks. I felt like saying " I can go to Wendy's if I'm bothering you" but I ordered a black coffee and a cookie. I left her a buck and change tip and the twins just continued to stare. As I was leaving, I said " Have a nice day!" and they just looked at me... The coffee was OK, the service was reasonably quick, but that place has a black cloud for ambience. As a middle aged person, I still remember working for tips, although back in my day counter help didn't get tipped. That being said, I think I'll stick to the Mom and Pop coffee places. Or hope that someone starts making portable espresso machines. read more

Mediocre experience overall at this Scooter's location. I stopped in on a Saturday around noon. The location was clean and tidy upon entering, which is always a plus. The customer service, however, could use some tidying up. The barista appeared slightly annoyed that I had come in and interrupted whatever they had going on. I ordered a blueberry muffin and a strawberry banana smoothie as a quick, on-the-go lunch. The blueberry muffin was fine, but would've been better if it had been warmed up (I wasn't given the option). The strawberry banana smoothie was delicious! I'd give the location another shot in the future, but only because the drink was spot on. If I based a return visit on the rest of the experience, I would probably pass. read more

Incredible visit this morning with very welcoming staff. Drink and food was produced quickly for us to make it on time to our destination!

I live seconds from this location. It was significantly better before they closed for several weeks after their entire staff quit at once then they "remodeled". Since they have reopened it has been a 40/60 shot of getting a decent coffee. I went to Starbucks daily for 8+ years then moved by a scooters 2 years this October. I got tired of having burnt nasty coffee from "Charbucks" so I tried d Scooter's and haven't been back to another Starbucks in two years. I am really aggravated because this location is so convenient, but it's not worth the 60% chance of having crap coffee. The price isn't worth it anymore. There is nothing like paying $6+ for a drink for the espresso to no be brewed properly or for it to be burnt. It's not difficult to understand you have a short period from brewing to putting the espresso in before it "expires" and won't taste the same. I really miss the old staff. They were better at making coffee and friendlier. Although, there is one newer gal at the window that is nice. The rest just seem like they are checked out and have been since the start of the day. I guess good things never last. I'll just drive the extra time to the one on Ridgeview. Their staff kills it on service and quality every single time. I recently realized they were both owned by the same people only one is listed under Teri Reynolds and the other Randy Reynolds, however the company itself is Cool Beans Espresso LLC, so I don't know why there are so many discrepancies between the two but it's day and night between the two. I hope they get it figured out soon. We went from long lines to nobody ever there anymore, so apprently I'm not the only one who gave up or is contemplating on giving up on this location. read more

Finally stopped in here again (June 2013). I have to say that the current Manager, Ryan, seems to have made some improvements....We stopped in because our car was being serviced within walking distance. Our coffee drink was prepared well, and Ryan seemed to know his regular customers and had a good rapport with them. Based upon this visit, I would say they are on par with many other coffee places I visit on an infrequent basis. OLD REVIEW: Generally, I love Scooter's...but, this location has very poor quality control. When you pay $5.00 for a coffee drink, it should be prepared the way you want. I have given this location several chances...maybe 1 time out of 5 the drink will actually be prepared as ordered. If you do not tell the "barista" no-foam, then they will prepare a latte with about 1/3 of the cup as foam. Also, you are lucky if when you order a drink "extra hot", you manage to even get one that is considered "hot". The barista's either are incompetent, or they just do not listen, or, they just do not care. The last time I gave it another chance, I went thru the drive through and ordered a CARAMELICIOUS. I drove off and took a sip...and there was not a drop of Caramel in the drink. It tasted like steamed milk and espresso. As for the outdoor patio, the staff does not set up the umbrellas and when we asked, they told us the umbrellas had been damaged, and they were not setting them up, pending insurance negotiation....so, to heck with the Coffeehouse "experience"...just make sure to get money for those umbrellas! And yes, I have complained to Ownership about this location. Scooter's corporate was very concerned...the local Franchise Owner; however, did not even take time to personally respond. I only go here, if there is absolutely no alternative. read more

As a solid coffee shop, Scooter's has a variety of teas, coffees, and chilled beverages one expects at a coffee shop. The service is always speedy and the price is on-par with other similar shops. The unique tea offerings are what always bring me back though. The loose leaf tea with the filtered lid are awesome- it takes a bit of getting used to, but once I drank the tea several times, I was hooked! I like the London Fog with Earl Grey tea and cream - so tasty and unique. The matcha tea, a very earth green tea is great too! The free wifi is speedy and it's a fine stop for a morning beverage or an afternoon pick-me-up. read more

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name... I used to frequent the other "S" coffee house by my home and they NEVER learned my name, my drink, my KID'S names, my favorite color and the name of my first grade teacher the way the staff at this Scooters did! I love this place! While it may not qualify as "the best coffee in town" the customer service makes up for it. The employees always greet you (my fave barista always greets with a Howdy!), and they always have smiling faces. As far as coffee goes, it is pretty good. I like this place better than Starbucks due to convenience as well as customer service. In my opinion you should go to scooters for blenders (aka frappés) and smoothies. White Mocha is the best drink by far! If you are looking for good coffee and baristas that will greet you with a smile, make sure to stop here!!!! read more

I drove through for an iced latte while my cousin ran into the store across the parking lot and my godson slept in the back seat. The final product was good, nothing special. Gave me the caffeine fix I needed. I also enjoyed the free wifi from the parking lot since a quick run into the grocery store lasted 30 minutes. I would go back if I were in the area. read more

They are always so friendly here. No complaints. Fast service. In my opinion Scooter's coffee taste better than Starbucks. My favorite drink to get here is their Green Matcha Blender with whatever flavor choice I feel like having that day. Started going here because I did not have internet at my place yet, and this was a gem of a find. Comfortable seating, plenty of room, and friendly service, not to mention great coffee, Scooter's was such a welcomed habitat for working. The workers were always friendly, attentive, and efficient and they made great drinks. Also, I really appreciate the fact they are more affordable than other coffee shops. Let's get one thing straight--my latte was very good. However... and it's a big one. I decided to stop here and grab some wireless on the way to a meeting in KC. This is not a place I'd normally stop but I figured decent chain, should get a good latte, which I did. I walk in around 9:00 a.m. and there's probably 8 people in the place, three people serving coffee. One is outside (smoking I think). The other two, I walk up to the counter and one lady is fixing the others hair. I stand there for probably two minutes. No one but me is in line. They know I'm there. Finally she rushes over to the the counter giggling like, "sorry, I know you're there but don't care." She did wash her hands before taking my order which took another 45 seconds or I'd give them a zero, if that's possible. OK, I get it--customers don't matter. Plus, there were some medical issues with the server I won't go into but lets just say maybe you should bandage yourself up a bit better before coming to work, and maybe the servers should dress a bit better. I'd think the Scooter's corporate staff would be horrified at what I saw. Won't be back. read more

The staff is very friendly here. Their flavored coffee is really good but my favorite is the iced coffee.

Funniest. Baristas. Ever. Oh, and the turtle latte is very good. I'd go out of my way for this coffee, but luckily I don't have to.

I went to Scooters (Lenexa) for the first time this past Monday. I ordered a large coffee and a bagel breakfast sandwich. I did not see the bagel until I got into my car. What a joke. It was a miniature "bagel" less than two inches in diameter and tasted terrible. One bite and I threw it out. This is fraud. The picture suggests you are getting a regular sized bagel. And, for this I paid $4.50. The large coffee was not much better than what I can brew at home. Needless to say, I will not be going back. Fool me once, your fault. Fool me twice, my fault. read more

I am at this Scooter's every day of the week (as in Monday through Friday). One day I came up here for coffee and to just sit before I had to head into the office, mostly because I was early and didn't want to go in. I sat at a table with my basic coffee w/ cream and my Laptop and just kind of enjoyed the time to myself. Ever since then I've been a daily customer. The staff is just incredible. Everyone that works here seems to genuinely care about how they handle themselves and the work that they do. The management, both the former Manager Brady and the current Manager Eric, are fantastic managers that know how to run their crew. Teri, the owner, is a wonderful, and entertaining person. The coffee is great, the atmosphere is great... Honestly this is just a great Scooter's to go to and is enjoyable in every sense of the word. read more

I love this place. Great consistent quality and service! I do love coffee and would consider myself quite the connoisseur. Of course I prefer a little hole in the wall, local coffee shop with occupational baristas and artisan beans, but that is not always available. So for amazing artisan beans and well trained professionals making my drinks, Scooter's is a great option. I stop in every time I'm in the neighborhood. It was probably my second or third visit and the barista working at the time had welcomed me as if I was a 'daily regular' and even remembered my drink order. As for the atmosphere, I find it to be a great place for all occasions and all seasons. The inside is always very clean and tidy, the front of the house has great music at a higher volume if I am just mindlessly relaxing and there is also a separate back room with quieter music and more relaxed, focused atmosphere if I'm trying to get some reading or work done. Speaking of getting work done, they offer free WiFi, which is always a plus and should be a necessity for all coffee shops.As for the outside, I have been to many Scooter's, this particular one has a great patio seating area with comfy cushioned seats large umbrellas for sunny days and great music always playing outside. If Kansas weather is permitting, this is by far my favorite place to sit and relax. This Scooter's does have a drive through, which can be super convenient when I'm in a real hurry, the drive through is often very busy, but they move you though quickly and still offer the same great drinks I get when I go inside. All-in-all, I give Scooter's two thumbs up, Really happy people serving me really great coffee, Those are defiantly the key elements that keep me going back to any coffee shop, and Scooter's has it. read more

I've been to a few Scooters and I have to say that this is my favorite location. The staff is always cheerful and that helps with my morning grumpiness until I get that first cup of coffee. Where as I just do straight up black coffee, my friends who like to get those multi worded coffee or tea drinks have always thought they were great. People are very nice. However, my experience always ends with the same opinion. You will get better coffee, better tea, better food elsewhere. The oatmeal I ordered had WAY too much sugar. Allow the customer to had their own (like the Starbucks does.) The coffee ( I have always ordered a mocha) does not taste good to me. The tea bag in my cup was an ordinary cheap bag that imparts bad flavor )....try serving whole leaf teas in good quality bags. The taste is worth the price. Numi organic breakfast blend was just mediocre....aka lipton-ish. My kids all agree that Black dog has the best fruit smoothies...they won't even finish the Scooter's smoothie. Come on Scooter's Coffeehouse, you can do better. read more

What a disappointment. I was craving a delicious frozen yogurt from Scooters tonight. Due to other commitments, I was not able to get to the Scooters store on 101st Street in Lenexa before 8:50pm. As I pulled into my parking spot, the young lady that was working there gave me such a look like 'how dare I show up 10 minutes before closing!'. It was so disheartening and disappointing that I didn't have the heart to even walk into the store. So, I just put the car into reverse and drove across the street to the Kwik Mart and spent my money there. I didn't get the delicious Scooters frozen yogurt that I craved, but I didn't get the disappointing attitude either. read more

Seriously, for a place that's main business is coffee it doesn't open nearly early enough. I'm sorry but opening at 7:00 on Saturdays and Sunday is ridiculous. And 6:00 am on weekdays, some people are already at work. I need coffee at 5:00 am! So of course I have to drive to a freaking Starbucks when I would much prefer to support my neighborhood coffeehouse. The coffee itself is fine. The staff is always super friendly.
