Ok so my car was having some problems with the engine so I brought it here. I'm told that I need a new engine after a week of my car being in their care. I'm already annoyed that my car has been there that long and it took them that long to give me any info. It's not drivable and I'm not in a place to do much about it. So they say they are ordering the new engine so I try to be as patient as possible because last year there was a shortage for car parts and I was trying to be patient. After about a MONTH with me getting on them they can't even tell me an order number or company to track the engine that they ordered (they didn't). They start to ignore my calls and don't answer with I'm there. At the roughly 2 month mark I finally get some picture of an engine next to my open car with no engine inside. The picture was poor quality and I couldn't see well. At 3 months I'm being fully ignored and they wouldn't answer other numbers I was calling with and they wouldn't answer the doors. So I had enough and I brought a tow truck and my brother for help. I had to threaten to call the authorities for them to finally give me my car back and you guessed right it had no engine, not even the original which doesn't make any sense to me. I even looked it up around the time I called for the tracking number and there were a good amount of that type available. So now I'm left with a car with no engine and I have to pay another mechanic to fix this. With money I don't have. So money to these guys. Money to the towing company. Now money to another mechanic. I can't afford this living in this state as you can imagine. read more

My father in law and i went to this shop to have his car serviced on Monday, 04/29/2019. We needed to replace the stabilizer bar and get an A/C service for the car. One of the mechanics came out and fixed them for us. My father-in-law wanted to check the transmission fluid as well so, the mechanic put a dipstick into the transmission and told us that it was too dirty. So, we decided to change it since we were at the shop anyway. I went to the Pepboys and bought 6 qts of transmission fluid. The mechanic drained the old transmission fluid from the car and poured 6 qts of the new transmission fluid. He did a test drive and the transmission slipped right away and the car didn't move. He told me that it happened because we bought a wrong type of fluid for the car. I straight went back to Pepboys to complain for recommending me the incorrect transmission fluid, but the mechanic called and told me, "bring 3 more bottles of the same fluid, because I drained the transmission fluid but nothing came out from the car. The car needs more transmission fluid". I should have known right away when he told me that nothing came out of the car, because we put 6 QTS of FLUID into the car. It turned out to be that he put the transmission oil into the ENGINE! Anyway, I bought 3 more bottles of the oil as he told me to, and he poured them in to the ENGINE again, and of course, the car transmission slipped AGAIN. When the mechanic poured the transmission fluid into the car, he was holding the ENGINE oil tube with funnel and rag together with his hands and both my father in law and i saw that. That was for sure the ENGINE OIL TUBE because it is almost impossible to reach out to transmission oil tube without taking off the engine cover, but we both saw that he did not remove the engine cover. He lied and said it happened because we bought the wrong type of oil (although he was the one who told me to buy more) and he said he could order the correct type of oil if we wanted, so we asked him to order the OEM Mercedes transmission fluid and fix the car. He said it will take 1-2 business days, so we said okay and left the shop. I went back to the shop to pick up the car on Wednesday, 05/01/2019 at 5pm. When I arrived at the shop, the car and the mechanic weren't at the shop. We supposed to meet at 5:00pm, but he wasn't there. I called him to ask where he was and he said that he went out for a test drive with the car, so he will be back within 15 to 20 mins. I waited almost like 2 hours at the shop. I still don't understand why he took such a long time to do a test drive. I called him so many times, but he didn't pick up his phone, so I was about to leave and saw him coming in with the car. When he entered into the shop, I saw a lot of white smoke coming out from the exhaust and so I asked him why. He said, "the white smoke will be gone after you drive it a little bit." I really should have noticed that there was a problem with the car, but I just trusted him. The transmission was shifting fine, but the main problem was the engine had too much fluid. My father-in-law called me later in the day and told me that the car made weird grinding noises when he was driving it earlier. We told him that we were not sure about it so, we would have to ask the mechanic about it. 2 days later, the engine completely broke down on the freeway while my father in law was driving and he almost died because of it. We asked the mechanic to figure out what he had done to the car but the only respond that we got from him was that he was in Las Vegas and he would give us a call on following Monday, but he did not. So, we towed the car to the Mercedes Benz dealership service center and got a diagnostic test to find out a problem. We found out that the engine was completely broken due to the excessive amount of oil. According to the Mercedes mechanic, the white smoke only comes out when there is too much oil in the engine. The engine level was okay before we got the service from the shop and we never requested for any engine services to the mechanic. Now, the mechanic is keep denying the fact that we totally messed up the car and made my father-in-law almost got killed on the freeway. There when I took my car not knowing it was the same man that did bad things in the past like over charging and selling work not needed to elderly people I know my mother is one of them . 4 new tires ony mom's Honda cost 750 .oo tires only . The tires at disc. Tire were 99.00 @ and at the time nlbuy 3 get 4th free . They told her they do all the work , no they sent it down the street and the tires put on and bumped the bill over 50% if she had taken. It directly to the tire store. They have no class or business ethics to rip off elderly in fixed income is not right. I took my car in for oil change and inspection. I'm pick it up after over paying and the check engine light is on . I tell him , oh it was not on when I test drove it .Long ,long story he fixed it all right after 5 times in shop and doing a bad tune up that cost me 800.00'@!and the car broke down 5 times after. Towed it back there the removed my tip manifold to get to the spark plugs and used the old seal after charging me for the part and. labor well then oil was easing out the sides of my engine car smoking towed back and I had been pushed the last time. Everytime it went back I had to pay tow bills but he needed to fix what he broke. then he would tell me they r to busyto fix my car . HELL NO . I TOLD HIM ARE THE ones who almost caused the car to go up in flames plus I paid u for work but done he was very rude and spoke down t me becuz I'm a woman like I was uneducated stupid woman. After my car sat there for 3week s waiting for a new timing cover that they broke and tried to reuse it feelv down into the timing belt and fan and almost caused an accident . +He said he could find one. On February 16th I towed my car into scooters Automotive Service in Montclair California on Arrow Highway I spoke to Arturo the mechanic and later Jorge the owner I let them know my car was overheating and leaking water or coolant if you will the next day George called me to pick up my car they told me I needed a water pump and a timing belt a timing belt is for an oil leak I have never had an oil leak I am not a mechanic as in paying George over $1,000 cash he kept my car running and proceeded to tell me I was low on gas once I got to the gas station my car would not turn on again and it was still leaking the same fluids I called George he came over told me to bring back the car to the shop and he would fix it so Sunday March 27th he calls me to come and move my car he had told me he was going to put a new engine and a head gasket in I've been waiting for him to do this since February 17th when he supposedly fixed my vehicle it is now in my driveway and he decided he's not going to fix it all so he allowed his cat to get into my car and spray it I had asked him to make sure my windows were closed so his cat could not get in there is a disgusting Pig and is very unprofessional I begged him on my hands and knees to fix my car crying he is unprofessional and definitely a crook do not take your vehicle to him ever his son is a crook as well I believe they have another shop behind The Sandbar on Arrow as well George lied to me everyday since February 16th I feel so sorry for that cat it is skin and bones cruelty to animals in my opinion read more

Very knowledgable mechanic. My car has had issues since I bought it from an auction 2years ago (very bad idea which I will never do again). It's like a sick kid in and out of different shops. Check engine light is its favorite illness. Been overheating and had towed to close repair shop and all they did is change hoses and sent me on my way. Kept overheating. Turns out I had a blown head and leaky radiator. Denny took the time to keep me updated on progress and other needed repairs that were due because of my mileage. Full diagnosis. I was recommended to this place and it was a HUGE regret going here. This mechanic place is overpriced and DO NOT take their time to do a good job. They are not trustworthy. I went here for maintenance. I ended up with a $770 bill to fix things that I found out later did not need to be fixed. They take advantage of people who do not know much about cars. In addition, while he was replacing my bushings, he broke something and did not tell me about it. NEVER COME TO SCOOTERS to get your car fixed. It is a waste of your time and money. After being told by Jiffy lube that they could not do an oil change because something was stripped and needed to be rethreaded and only a mechanic could rethread we were in search of a mechanic who could do the job, Scooters was recommended to us by another place and we set out to Scooters to see if they had time to do the job, it was a Saturday and was surprised they they were willing to do the job that same day. After an hour we received a call to tell us that the screw was just on a little tight and nothing was stripped, that is one honest mechanic, we would not have known any differently had he just charged us for something that wasnt done. We were more then happy to have them do the oil change for us. I will be recommending Scooters to anyone who needs a mechanic. My daughter is a police officer in Montclair and i have asked her to pass on the news of a good honest mechanic working in her city. read more

I've also taken other makes of vehicles to him Oldsmobile, Ford and he is definitely someone that knows vehicles. He will not do unecessary repairs or suggest things not needed. I've used a lot of mechanic services over the years, owned toyotas and vw's as well, and went elsewhere due to my work schedule, but have trusted him the longest. Most repairs are done same day with the exception of those rare instances where it will take 2 days. All work is guaranteed and he backs up all repair work done.
