I brought in my BMW for a diagnostic and it turned out that a part was loose, which was causing a loud rattling sound whenever stepping on the brake pedal, and in less than 1 hr, from the short test drive to screwing in the loose bolt, my car was fixed and even the alignment issue was fixed as a result. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. I cannot recommend Mike and Akbar Auto Service enough. When my brother, who had terminal cancer, expressed his wish to have his Tahoe running one last time so he could drive it through the mud like we used to when we were younger, I was overwhelmed with both grief and hope. He passed before he could fix it himself. Most shops probably would have dismissed a 2000 Tahoe as not worth the effort, but Mike treated me and my request with the utmost respect and compassion. Mike and his team went above and beyond, repairing the air conditioning water pump, gas pump., Installed a new transmission, starter, replaced spark plugs,replaced hoses, brakes and a new timing belt. We were looking for a new, local, honest mechanic and I think we found one in Mike Akbar. We saw Mike in IG and liked his message. We stopped in (bc we had to) two days before Xmas. We had unknown engine problems, there was a knocking sound in the engine, and our lights were out. Mike quoted us a price, fixed the car and had it back in one day, before Xmas, and under the price he quoted us. Now, I'm sure that's good sales tactics, 'quote high and bill low' but there were a few things he could have done to the car... that I asked him to do, that didn't need to be done. I asked him to replace the fog lights but they were working properly and don't need it (my d.a. didn't know there was a trick to turning them on!). I also asked for a quote for shocks and struts as the guys from "Bep Poys" have been telling me I need to get done. His quote was half of the price I got from "my three best friends," and he said he's going to shop for a better/lower price for the parts. We also had a great conversation about things other than car repair: archeology, theology, family, vintage cars, and the holidays. We had a few similar opinions and a few different but we had a great, intelligent conversation about a lot of interesting subjects. I really like the fact that my new mechanic has an honest and efficient shop and a thoughtful, say knowledgeable, and reasonable head on his shoulders. Moved to the area a few years ago. During that time, I bought my wife a new Lexus. Now that the maintenance plan is running out at the dealership, I started looking around for a someone to take over the maintenance on it. Mike Akbar came across my social media and after my research, I decided I was gonna start taking her car there. Before I started taking her car there, the transmission went out on my Camry. I commute 160 miles a day, so it is important that I stay on top of the maintenance. Had the car towed to Mike and all I can say is, Mike is an honest man in a world that has a reputation of not being so honest. I never had to call for an update on my car, because he kept me well informed on what was happening. Phew, Mike is back in town! The best shop in town, and a what relief from other and unreliable BMW shops around. I've had numerous problems with local BMW shops, and the last one ended with a broken transmission. Though the shop said it was not related to the maintenance done just the day before (hmmm, strange, huh?) it failed while I was driving south on the 15 freeway. IN THE MIDDLE LANE. WITH CRAZY TRAFFIC DOING OVER 80 MPH. COST $600 TO TOW BACK TO THE SHOP. This would NEVER happen at Mike's shop. Another BMW shop damaged the door panel while they were replacing the window motor, did not refund any part of the bill, but gave me a coffee mug as compensation. I ended the business relationship when I had too many suspicious and very expensive "issues" with the car. So yeah, it's a big relief to know my favorite mechanic is back in town with a brand-spankin' new shop. Thanks Mike! read more

Finding a trustworthy mechanic to work on your family's cars can be a real challenge. My old mechanic retired, and I've been to a few repair shops with our cars. Mike was upfront and honest about what needed to be done, explaining the repairs and showing me the replaced parts when completed. I took the car in later in the day, and parts needed to be ordered.
