I recently had some work done to my Toyota Tundra (adjustable height front struts, wheels, and tires) at another shop, and while they did a great job with the install, they were never able to get my truck aligned, even after taking it back multiple times. The total toe was way off and they kept setting to too much positive camber. Because of that, my truck constantly drifted to the right and I knew my new tires were going to wear prematurely. I ended up finding Phillips Undercar because it was close to my work. I called him up and explained the issue and without hesitation, he said he could get it aligned. I stopped by, and he immediately greeted me and put my truck on the lift. Took all of 30 minutes for him to get my truck aligned and it drives like a dream! On top of that, they're so reasonably priced for the high quality work provided. I'll definitely be taking my vehicles here for alignments going forward. I just had Joel at Phillips Undercar align my 1965 El Camino after replacing my front suspension and lowering it 2". He did an excellent job by actually adjusting with shims for the caster and camber without just adjusting the toe and letting it go like a lot of other shops do. Reading through the reviews I thought this would be on the cheaper side, it wasn't. But the guy did my alignment when others wouldn't!

This guy seems totally clueless except for alignments, which he does well at. Everything else, just utterly clueless on customer needs. When I asked the guy/owner to check my suspension, he didn't even raise the car. I even offered to pay because I wanted a thorough diagnostic. And I am not the only one because another reviewer said the exact same thing (on not raising the car for checking). My car is 12 years old and I wanted my front struts replaced. But since you'd have to remove a bunch of bearings, seals and other small parts at the same time, I asked if he could check the area and I'll go purchase all the parts, so I can have the struts and all the small parts done at the same time to save on labor, and future concerns. Needless to say, this was a complete failure. He said everything was fine, but all the automotive threads recommends for a car this old, you replace all the small parts WHILE you replace the shocks and struts. Again, my car is 12 years old. This means if a bearing or seal comes loose, I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars ($300 or so) all over again to replace a single bearing or seal. Exactly what I was trying very hard to prevent. And I stated that intention at least 2 times, in person and on the phone. He could have prevented all of this by suggesting I replace them anyways. Or better yet, actually do a half decent job checking by actually raising the car. I am so angry at the incompetency and lack of care for the customer, I won't be back. I regret coming here. Don't bother coming here to fix your vehicle or get advice. He only knows how to do alignments. read more

I've been using Joel / Phillips Undercar for the last 5 years to get basic alignments for my 2015 Subaru Forester. He's a one man shop, so don't expect the fastest service and sometimes there are customers ahead of you since he doesn't schedule appointments ahead of time, but he's extremely professional, knows what he's doing, and will be extremely honest with you. Joel's focus is suspension work and alignments...that's literally all he does and I've never found anyone better. Recently, I took my Subaru Forester in to get some custom high-end front end links installed and he noticed that my right steering knuckle had a stripped bolt and the part was bad. Went to another alignment shop in Ontario due to proximity and excellent reviews but was extremely disappointed when I was quoted an unnecessary part in order to align my vehicle within spec. I questioned the nearly $900 parts and labor quote and decided to give Phillips Undercar a call which was the shop I was initially going to 1st anyway but because the other shop was close and on the way, I stopped there 1st. Joel at Phillips Undercar was quickly able to tell that my SUV's alignment was not too far off if any (did not need the upper control arm with adjustable camber the other shop was recommending) and was able to perform the 4 wheel alignment at very fair and honest price. Been coming here since an alignment was $50, its $80 now but still a job well done and I don't have to worry about it. I had another scammy chain store that offer unlimited alignments for 2 years for $160 or so and screw up your car to get extra money out of you. Joel is a Class Act!!! I spent so much time looking for someone who can do an alignment on a 1972 VW Bus. Initially found Alonso's Auto Repair via Yelp and spoke with Alfred. Right off he said they couldn't do it and that Joel was the only person the could recommend for older VW alignment. Drove up to Joel and left my bus. With quick turnaround and reasonable price, he had the alignment done. Joel mentioned that my bus sputtered when he drive it off and when I tried, it just died. Joel the recommended Ray who works on VWs and Porsches of all years. Joel tried to help but we then discovered that the carburetor was stuck. Lower control arms were improperly replaced by a crooked, incompetent shop (American Tire Depot). Took it to another shop afterwards and they charged me $80 to confirm the problem, then wanted another $200 to diagnose it!
