I pulled into Valvoline thinking I was getting an oil change. Turns out my car was staging an…read moreintervention. The crew changed my synthetic oil, serviced the transmission, and then brought out my air filter like they were presenting evidence in a criminal trial. "Sir, have you seen this?" No, because apparently it had been busy filtering every dust particle in California since the invention of the freeway. Fair point. Air filter replaced. Then came the cabin filter. The technician showed it to me with the seriousness of a doctor reviewing an X-ray. "You're breathing through THIS." Listen, I've survived worse. The cabin filter and I have a long-standing relationship. We've been through seasons together. Road trips. Construction zones. Wildfires. I wasn't ready to end it. So I declined. The staff took it well, which I appreciated. No pressure, no guilt trip. Just professional service, good humor, and a transmission service that has my car shifting smoother than a politician changing opinions during election season. The synthetic oil is fresh, the new air filter has my engine breathing like it's doing yoga, and the cabin filter remains employed for at least another six months. Fast service, friendly people, and nobody judged me too hard for my questionable filter decisions. 10/10. Would absolutely return for another episode of "Things My Car Has Been Hiding From Me." Signed, Joel

The last time I went, they were running behind, but the team still worked hard to get me in and out quickly and complete my oil change efficiently. They even offered additional coupons to help lower the cost, which I really appreciated. Over the years, I've noticed the staff changes from time to time, but the manager has remained the same. I'm not sure if this is a training location, but regardless of who is working, the team has always been respectful, helpful, professional, and hardworking. They consistently do their best to get everything done quickly and correctly.

Make: 2015 Honda CRV with 133K+ miles Oil Change: $80 Smog Check: $50 Total: $130 Time spent: 20ish minutes In 2024 this vehicle did not pass the smog. We brought it to tony because this shop is listed on the ca.bar.gov website and encase we had to get service or financial assistance through a state program, we'd be starting with the same shop to completion. The good news is our vehicle passed! Separately: for my vehicle 2021 Kia Sportage SX: I was told $60. I did not complete my service because it was much busier around lunch during the week and I was leaving on a trip so I took it into the dealer because I could make an appointment and had the frills in the wait room. Pro's: he's fast! and he does tell you honest wait times. Con's: No, price listing sheet. Not able to make an appointment first come first serve. As a first timer, I didn't realize during the lunch break cars were already waiting before I showed up. I assumed they were at the laundromat. No wait room, no frills just a great fast mechanic. (which depends greatly on your service)

ONE OF THE MECHANICS TRIED TO FIGHT ME! First off, The owner is a nice man, I hold no personal…read moreissues with him. HOWEVER, I brought my car to their shop initially for a rotor and brake pad replacement. I picked up my car and only a few days later the car started making grinding noises. I took it back to them and they assured me that the brakes were fine. No issues. But the car continued to make noise. So I had them replace the wheel bearings because I thought this was the issue. Still the car was grinding. I finally took it back and asked them to look at it. They said "you must've bought cheap parts off Amazon" because my wheel bearing was busted again. In only a month. Well I was upset and stormed out and said "whatever man" because I was not getting the proper help and one of the mechanics followed me to my car and shouted at me "You GOT A PROBLEM WITH ME?!?" and he stood in front of my driver's side door and gestured at me to fight him. It was a scary and insane experience. The owner called me and apologized for the employees behavior which I appreciate but that was all. He then told me maybe I need an alignment. Well, the grinding continued and only got worse. So I took my car to Firestone auto care. They found the issue. They told me that the driver's side rotor wasnt properly tightened and they were surprised the wheel didn't completely come off. So the initial rotor and brake replacement I had done at Martinez and sons was the issue and when I took it back because of the grinding they simply told me "No, nothing wrong with the brakes. Everything looks good. I doubt they even pulled the brakes off because how do you not notice the rotor isn't properly tightened down. And because of this, many other things were damaged. I had to get resurfaced rotors, new brake pads, new wheel hub and bearings. In total I had to pay 1,400 dollars but now the car actually drives great. This is on top of the initial 900 I spent at Martinez and sons trying to fix THEIR issue which they didn't catch. I no longer recommend this place to anyone after everything I went through with them.
