The best lunch in Portland... isn't in Portland. This place is a half hour from where we live, and…read morethen we have to wait in line 20 minutes to order, another 20 minutes to wait for food (our fault- it was a sunny Saturday)-- and it was SO worth it. They put so much care into everything. Listen- always get the salad here. They're always delicious and contain surprises. This time we got marinated rhubarb, which is in season, and which I'm excited to make and put in my own spring salads at home. Also, edible flowers, and while we ate lunch, we saw a worker picking them from the little garden. The sandwich was a shrimp roll, which was great, maybe with homemade bread? It was perfect. The sandwich was zesty, with a remoulade and little pickled jalapeños. And what were those crunchy things on top? Crushed barbecue potato chips! A delightful detail most restaurants wouldn't bother with. And the soft serve sundaes, which are also full of artistry and interesting textures! You have to get one. I'm a pretty good cook, and it takes a lot to blow me away. Sugarpine blows me away.

The important pieces:…read more The environment is what is so amazing, it's at a park, it's beautiful, and they have yummy ice cream. The food is really good, but I had the shrimp roll, and some of the ingredients seemed like they were there to add an ingredient not add a flavor. Otherwise great stuff, it was a little pricey.

I don't usually leave reviews, but this place refuses to make chili dogs and it's really annoying…read moreat this point and there's ALWAYS a problem when I order a chili dog. I ordered a chili dog on the app and went through the drive-through and they said they didn't have chili dogs and that I would have to get a refund through the app. I pulled out of the drive through to try and figure it out then came back through the drive through and called them out and said that that's not possible. They had no idea how to do a refund and they said they would switch it out for something else. So I said OK just give me chicken strips instead. Then we pulled around and they made us pull up and park and wait for our food as many cars were going by us. They finally brought out food and it wasn't even close to what we ordered. After being frustrated and letting them know that this wasn't even what we ordered the girl asked to look at my phone and see what we ordered originally on the app. She proceeded to TAKE MY PHONE inside and behind the counter, and I followed her in because I didn't know what she was doing. Our order wasn't huge so I didn't think she needed to take my phone for that long to figure out the order. She was scrolling through my phone I guess looking for the order even though I already had it pulled up on it, but it took her a couple minutes and I told her I wanted my phone back. She then saw that I originally ordered a chilli dog and then proceeded to tell the other kid to start heating up chili. They ended up making the original chilli dog order AND giving us a chicken strip basket as well which we didn't originally order..... SO THEY COULD MAKE CHILI DOGS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!! They just didn't want to. I've had an issue every single time I go to this place and it's ridiculous. This whole encounter took over 30 minutes. So they wasted everyone's time, their business lost money because they got gave us free food and they made customers mad and I'm sure the coworkers who had to deal with all of this simply because they didn't want to originally make a chili dog that has five things to it. Hot dog, bun, chilli, cheese and onions. I really hope the owners see this because it's such a petty thing that can be easily solved. I'm leaving a photo of the receipt of our order so you know this isn't just made up and how not complicated the order was. I'm writing this today because today (5/12/26), I once again tried to order a chili dog with onions and they didn't put onions on it and then we had to go back and tell them we wanted onions on them and the kid said "oh well we'll have to chop them"... yeah that's what you have to do to put onions on a chili dog. This place is insane

Had such a great breakfast experience at Breakfast in the Hood!…read more I ordered a breakfast burrito with gravy, tomatoes, and grilled onions--and it was absolutely delicious. I had no idea it also came with hash browns inside... total bonus and honestly had me drooling. My main squeeze got the fried chicken biscuit sandwich with gravy, and let's just say he didn't leave a single crumb behind. Kick-ass service, super friendly staff, and just an all-around great vibe. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. Enjoyed our food at a covered picnic table near by.

But they are known for their breakfast burritos. I ordered the first choice (I forget the name) which is bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, cheese and your choice of sauce - please, please please choose gravy. I say that because they put the exact right amount of country gravy in the burrito so that we could eat it on the road without making a mess and the gravy was delicious. I can't imagine this burrito without gravy actually. It would just be a run-of-the-mill breakfast burrito. The gravy puts it over the top, way over the top as my new favorite. Egg is the primary ingredient and potatoes enhance it. The burrito was perfectly seasoned too. This is a burrito that you would never need to add hot sauce or salsa to every bite like most breakfast burritos. The guy in the truck was very nice even though we were the only customers for a while due to the rain. The price is right too. Recommend!

Walking into the Soda Shop, it feels like a kid's daydream. There was candy and souvenirs everywhere, a big ice cream counter, and, of course, the soda shop. I noticed that they also sell food here-- it smelled amazing and I would definitely give it a try if I came again. Ordering was easy, and the young man behind the counter was really helpful-- I had never been to a soda hop before, so I had some questions about the options. He did not make me feel silly for having questions, and he did a good job of both training his coworker and being attentive to the line at the same time. I ordered a sugar free salted caramel soda (there were so many sugar free options!!!) It was delightful. I was a little apprehensive that it would actually taste like the flavor, but I was pleasantly surprised. The price point is higher than you would pay for a normal soda, but I think that the novelty of the experience is worth it. We had a great time, and would definitely return (I want to see the upper level, too-- that was closed for a private event when we stopped in).
