Don't miss this place! Yep, the real deal. Shannon actually works the counter sharing her delectable goodness made fresh daily. She does have Tillamook on hand but go for her specialties before they run out first. A pleasant small shop in a converted Victorian style home in the original quieter Town of the Dalles. So glad we visited and are going back tonight!

So good! We were thrilled to find sugar free options (sweetened with monk-fruit according to the server). My kids had chocolate and vanilla, I had chai (all SF choices). The chai was on the spicy side (ginger!) which I enjoyed but not everyone might. The waffle cones are also gluten-free and super delicious. Friendly and helpful staff, cool old house. We'll be back!

Empty bowl... or is it something more?

Love the ambiance ice cream was great. Shannon did not disappoint. Recommend the chocolate hazelnut with espresso poured over 10/10.

Cute little ice cream shop with tables and chairs inside and out for customers to lounge and enjoy their treats. It's within walking distance of downtown but far enough away from the hustle and bustle so that you can have a chill break. The couple that own this shop are warm and friendly! They make their waffle cones and some of their ice cream in house! Great variety of flavors! Definitely a must try and try and try again!

Front porch, cute, ice cream, lights!

We like to stop here on our way from the Portland area to Washington and Idaho. Good service, good varieties of ice cream, gluten free cones, and good fresh ground coffee!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Delicious ice cream! Homemade and Tillamook ice cream is available. We took the kids there, got giant junior scoops for all of us and it was more than plenty. Also make sure to get the freshly made waffle cones! It was fun to appreciate the great ice cream art on the walls.

The shop footprint is massive! So to set expectations, the ice cream shop is new and just getting started. So the space is far larger than what is currently needed for the ice cream counter. The business is run by a mom and daughter and they plan on adding a full coffee bar and soda fountain with video and arcade games in the back. For now it's just ice cream and they had about 2 dozen flavors - all the usual suspects like salted caramel, mint chocolate chip, java, Rocky Road, etc. Prices are very reasonable - 1 scoop is $3.95 with each additional scoop costing an incremental $2. With so many gourmet ice cream shops in Portland that sell one scoop for $6.95, this felt like a bargain! On a hot summer day, my waffle cone with a scoop of salted caramel and a scoop of java was just the refreshing treat I didn't know I needed! Oh, and service was super friendly, offering tastes and serving with a smile! Small town charm as it should be. Clearly the owners intend for this to be a warm and welcoming place for friends and families to gather with affordable offerings and fun activities. Once their plan materializes, I hope it will become a destination spot and not feel like a take out ice cream shop in a massive space. For now four stars, but I will definitely go back and re-evaluate when the coffee bar opens.

First, it's just ice cream! I don't know what the name represents. Because all though Mt. Hood is a "potentially active stratovolcano" (pulled that straight from Google!), most people wouldn't extrapolate that far, in my opinion. I thought a volcano cone was going to be like a hole in the middle filled with hot fudge or something ... it's not. It's just ice cream! The staff working at the shop today were so nice!!!! I'm hoping this is always the experience! During COVID it's hard to find good help, but the two young women were great with service. Kudos to these employees! The ice cream is delicious! I don't know if it's "homemade" but it has to be small-batch. They even have a traditionally Govy flavor of Huckleberry; which I enjoyed and would recommend and would order again. I also got Mint Chip, my staple! The mint chip was green meaning they had to add food dye; I prefer when brands don't, but the food dye doesn't effect the taste. My husband and son both got salted caramel and Oreo. The Oreo was ordered on recommendation from other reviewers and they liked it. Salted caramel is a favorite of my son especially and he gives it two thumbs up. This will be an annual experience. Update: Went for a second night and got the Beachcomber which I enjoyed more than I expected. Also got the strawberry which has been my least favorite so far - not bad, just least favorite.

Walking into the Soda Shop, it feels like a kid's daydream. There was candy and souvenirs everywhere, a big ice cream counter, and, of course, the soda shop. I noticed that they also sell food here-- it smelled amazing and I would definitely give it a try if I came again. Ordering was easy, and the young man behind the counter was really helpful-- I had never been to a soda hop before, so I had some questions about the options. He did not make me feel silly for having questions, and he did a good job of both training his coworker and being attentive to the line at the same time.
